How to procure?

In order for a maple bath broom to be able to perform all its functions and be useful, you need to make it right. To begin with, a suitable material is selected. Products are predominantly made from broadleaf maple. The Canadian variety is a great option, but it's not easy to find. This variety has all the beneficial properties, it has the most effective anti-inflammatory effect.

Be sure to pay special attention to the color of the leaves. They should have a bright and rich green color.

When the base is selected, flexible and elastic young leaf plates, which are located on the middle tier, are carefully cut from it. The harvest itself is best done from the end of June to the end of July.

Bath brooms should be procured no more than 40-50 cm long. Large items are not the best option, because when they get wet, they become very heavy, become rough and can cause discomfort to a person.

Up to 20 maple branches should be collected in one bunch, while they are laid out in such a way that a fan is obtained. The individual elements are tied in pairs, turning them face to face towards each other. This laying technology will allow the broom to maintain its shape in the future, and the leaf blades will not curl during the drying process.

To steam a maple broom, you can use a steamer or a simple medium-sized container. To begin with, it is filled with clean heated water, while boiling water is absolutely impossible to use, since the leaves can simply boil, after which the bath broom will become unusable. The workpiece will need to be in hot water for at least 15 minutes.

This time is quite enough for the maple leaves to swell a little and open up. They will acquire the necessary softness and elasticity. A properly steamed product will bend well and then take on its original shape.

Then you need to carefully place the workpiece in a container in an upright position and cover with a lid. After 20 minutes, you can take out the broom and hold it over the stove for a while.

If you just want to lay the product on the stones, then remember that each such procedure should last no more than 20 seconds, and the broom should be periodically moistened.

Many bath attendants claim that fresh brooms can be used immediately after harvesting, and steaming can be done already before subsequent procedures.

It is better not to pour out the liquid that remains after steaming. It is perfect for watering the heater and walls. The resulting vapors will fill the entire room with a pleasant and healing aroma.

How to use it correctly?

A maple product for bathing procedures is considered a universal option; it can be used both for light warming up and for massage, complex bath procedures. When using such a broom, it is worth remembering some important rules.

  • Excessive and violent movements should be avoided. And also do not forget that maple leaves are capable of pumping up vapors perfectly, which is why such products will be the best option for various massages and inhalations.
  • It is better to perform movements with a broom, gradually moving from head to heels. Only after this can you proceed to the arms and sides.
  • Many experienced bath attendants argue that maple specimens are preferable to use only as relaxing ones. It is better to steam with them after stronger birch brooms.

Maple products allow for the most gentle steaming and forcing heat to the human body through smooth and slow movements. These brooms help to tone the skin during bath procedures.

How to store it correctly?

Store products properly.

  • Brooms collected from maple branches should be sent for drying immediately after use. Store such products in a thoroughly dry space. An excellent option in this case would be the attic. Pre-brooms are placed in tight boxes or simply laid out in the form of a fan in an empty space.
  • Be sure to make sure that the broom will not come into contact with moisture during storage. Otherwise, the product will quickly begin to rot, and various harmful microorganisms will appear on the surface of the leaves.
  • During the drying process, you can squeeze the brooms lightly. This must be done so that the maple leaves do not curl during the procedure, which often happens when the product is suspended.
  • After the broom is completely dry, it should be put into the pantry, while it is not recommended to wrap it with foil for protection purposes, otherwise it may start to sweat. A properly dried bath product can be stored for 3 years.
