Camping is becoming more and more popular. This is the reason for the growing demand for braziers, without which it is difficult to imagine a good rest. A stainless steel brazier is the most rational and durable device for making barbecue. Stainless steel surpasses in its technological qualities even steel of the best brands.

Peculiarities

Sometimes it is difficult to find in a store a barbecue device of such parameters that suit as much as possible. Then it is not particularly difficult to make a stainless steel barbecue yourself. The simplest option is a model that can be assembled or disassembled. The design of the product should be made in such a way that it takes a minimum of time to assemble it.

Features of the brazier made of stainless steel:

  • The design is not subject to corrosion.
  • The material heats up evenly, which has a beneficial effect on the quality of the kebab.
  • The stainless steel product weighs a little.

Often, homeowners independently design and create barbecues from stainless steel according to their own projects. A self-made product is much cheaper. But if you skillfully combine creativity and imagination, then you can make an exclusive model of the barbecue.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main feature of a barbecue for a summer residence is its compactness and small dimensions. The product should easily fit into a backpack or the trunk of a small car. First of all, you should draw a sketch in order to understand what nodes and details will be required to create it.

If you assemble a similar unit, then it will look like a small suitcase, the thickness of which will not exceed 5 cm.

The content of such a case includes:

  • grill grate;
  • a set of skewers;
  • mounting racks.

The bottom of such a product should be at least five millimeters thick, the side walls not thinner than two millimeters. The advantage of a self-assembled unit is that it can be made in any size. Some homeowners prefer to make the brazier long enough - about one and a half meters, others make such a product three times shorter.

Typically, the device is designed to hold 5 to 12 skewers. There should be an acceptable gap between the skewers so that they do not interfere with each other.

Portable barbecues have a common drawback: they are not as durable as stationary products. For compact units, charcoal is optimal, which can be bought in any supermarket.

Three types of barbecues can be made of stainless steel:

  • stationary barbecue;
  • collapsible hiking;
  • with built-in electric drive.

Mobile barbecues are a bulky, heavy structure, in which there is a large firebox made of thick stainless steel.

Such a structure is equipped, as a rule:

  • additional tables;
  • stands;
  • handles.

Within the territory of the household, such an object can be easily moved, since the brazier is equipped with wheels. If the site is too large, and there are several rest points on it, then a mobile stainless steel unit will be in demand.

Stationary devices are also very popular; units for the street are most often found.Such barbecues can be equipped with a roof, have original decorative ornaments and are quite expensive.

The form

The first type of products can be of very different shapes and can be installed in any summer cottage areas. Among them there are such models that are used for cooking not only kebabs, but also barbecue. The word barbecue came from Europe, the very principle of cooking meat is somewhat different from the traditional one. In this case, a grate is used, on which small pieces of meat are placed, while there are no skewers. Most often, on the territory of Russia, two types of barbecues are combined.

There is another type of units that synthesizes the features of a barbecue and barbecue. This is the so-called grill, when a spit is placed over a container with hot coals, on which large pieces of meat can be cooked. Sometimes in the North Caucasus, whole carcasses of sheep are fried in this way. The effectiveness of such a design is somewhat surprising.

Despite the fact that outwardly it is very simple, so that a large piece of meat is evenly baked and does not burn, a rational distribution of temperature over the entire surface of the product is required.

Dimensions (edit)

A stainless steel camping device can be made small, it can be very useful when going hunting or fishing.

Standard parameters of a simple barbecue:

  • main walls (2 parts) - 92x16 cm;
  • sidewalls (2 parts) - 32 x 16 cm;
  • bottom - 92 x 16 cm;
  • racks - length 50 - 90 cm;
  • set of corners - "4".

These figures can be called basic, because there is always an adjustment based on a specific situation.

Materials (edit)

Stainless steel is the best material for creating a barbecue. Stainless steel braziers are not subject to corrosion, are easy to clean and can serve for more than a dozen years.

Forged braziers are also made of steel with a metal thickness of at least 3 mm (preferably 4 or 5) and are distinguished by increased strength. Such a thing can serve for more than a dozen years, strong steel does not deform and does not burn out.

There is a large variety of barbecues in which electric ignition is present. In this case, you need a power supply within walking distance. Forged braziers have shown themselves very well. They are somewhat heavy, but they look very advantageous from an aesthetic point of view.

Stages of work

After preparing the drawings, markings are applied to a sheet of metal using a marker or felt-tip pen. The material is processed using a grinder. The edges are sanded with a file, the burrs are removed. Then, using an electric drill and a drill 8 or 12, holes are cut through which air will flow.

The distance between the holes should be about 4 cm on average. Sometimes the holes are made larger in diameter and distributed among themselves by 6-10 cm. In each case there is an individual approach based on careful calculation.

The folding device has fasteners on the base and walls, they are connected to each other with small screws, you can also weld them. The legs are screwed into the M10 nuts. One side of the tube is sharpened, a hairpin is welded to the other.

The legs must be fastened, that is, the crossbars must be fastened at a level of 25 cm from the ground, then the structure will be more rigid and stable.

The brazier case must have a hook to avoid spontaneous opening. Stainless steel is the most acceptable material for building a unit.

Advantages of a stainless steel device:

  • lightness and strength of the structure;
  • the material is not subject to corrosion.

In order to make a brazier, you should be able to handle metal and own the following tools:

  • electric drill;
  • hammer;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • chisel.

In order to assemble a brazier on your own, you do not need a high qualification of a locksmith.

Often, such products become a real work of decorative art, when the legs are decorated with vines, and the body itself is made of an original form, decorated with fanciful ornaments. Such barbecues are made by blacksmithing masters, their cost is high. Often, such products can be ordered according to your own sketches.

Tips & Tricks

There are no strict rules and regulations for the manufacture of this useful device. However, there are some "benchmarks" that they try to adhere to.As a rule, it is supposed to place about 8-15 skewers per one meter of barbecue. Based on this figure, a barbecue with a length of one meter will be enough for 4-6 people

The width of the product is dictated by the length of the skewer, usually it is no more than 40 cm. It is not recommended to do it wider, because the heat will be wasted away. The depth is usually done no more than 20 cm. This is quite enough for the full preparation of a meat dish.

The height of the legs may fluctuate, but, as a rule, they are made no more than 1 meter. If you do more, the center of gravity will shift, the brazier itself can weigh a sufficient amount of kilograms.

TOIn addition, the weight of the wood, skewers and meat should be taken into account. In any case, it is recommended to fasten transverse fasteners to the legs, which will be at a distance of 20-30 cm from the ground. This will be an important guarantee that the unit does not fall with all of its contents.

The brazier differs in that it does not have to be unfolded. The barbecue body can be stored in a closet or garage. A stainless steel brazier is good because the metal reliably protects against fire. In terms of time, you can quickly make such a brazier yourself if you prepare all the elements and details in advance.

Advantages of a device made of stainless steel:

  • It is easy to wash and clean.
  • The stainless steel warms up well, in such a grill you can quickly cook dishes.

On stationary models, it is permissible to make walls of thicker metal. Such a structure is more expensive, but it will also be more durable.

The best metal for welding should be up to 3 millimeters thick. It is recommended to use inverter devices. The work is the simplest, you should not make tight seams, it will even be good if holes remain in some parts of the seam. It is enough to make four seams, and the body of the product will be ready.

Recently, innovative chemical compounds made from natural ingredients have appeared on the market. They can be painted both outside and inside. But it should be noted that no paint can withstand the temperature inside the brazier, which reaches 600 degrees.

Barbecue paints are of the following types:

  • Special organic enamels based on silicon. Such substances can withstand temperatures up to six hundred degrees.
  • Today there are heat-resistant paints such as powder thermally stable substances, the use of which requires additional high-temperature treatment.

It is better to do such work in an equipped workshop, but if you wish, you can actually do it at home.

The oxidation technology is as follows. First, the body is cleaned with a solution of sulfuric acid (5%). Then it is boiled in an alkali solution (the process takes 1 to 2 hours).
