A brazier is an obligatory attribute of barbecue cooking. It has long ceased to be just a means for frying meat over coals. Today, it is increasingly becoming an adornment of a personal or suburban area. One of the most original ideas is a do-it-yourself brazier-ship from simple and affordable materials.

Unusual brazier with your own hands

The simplest and fastest solution is to purchase a ready-made forged brazier in the form of a Columbus era caravel or a sailing yacht. However, a self-made barbecue maker will allow not only to show the taste and skill of the owner, but also to take into account individual needs (size, capacity, location, and others).

True, in order to make a brazier, you will need:

  • good imagination;
  • welding equipment;
  • experience in welding.

    In addition, before starting work, it is necessary to prepare product drawings, so artistic skills will not interfere.

    Design features

    A decorative barbecue grill consists of two parts: a brazier and decorative elements.

    The brazier is the most important element, as the correct preparation of meat depends on it. It can be both part of the structure and a removable element. In the latter case, it is made in the form of a rectangular box, which can be removed and carried. If necessary, this metal box with wood or coal stowed in it will be installed inside the ship's hull. As an integral part of the design, the brazier can be exactly the same in shape, but welded to the decorative part of the brazier.

    For the manufacture of a brazier, a cut pipe or a gas cylinder is often used, around which the hull of the ship is created with the help of additional elements.

    Materials and tools

    To create a brazier in the form of a ship, you will need the following materials:

      • sheet metal with a thickness of 2 to 6 mm;
      • profile pipe;
      • wire with a cross section of 1 mm;
      • thin metal sheet (0.5-0.7 mm);
      • corners.

      You can also stock up on fire-resistant paint for the exterior of the ship.

      To work, you will need tools such as:

      • welding machine;
      • drill;
      • Bulgarian;
      • hammer or chasing.

        In the absence of a welding machine, you can use the fasteners.

        Manufacturing

        Before starting work, you need to determine the size of the barbecue. This is easiest to do if you prepare the drawings in advance and take into account the recommended parameters of such a design. So, the height and width can be made standard 18–20x22–25 cm. But the length is determined depending on the size of the family and your own wishes. A distance of 12 cm is taken as a basis - that is how much space is required to place 1 skewer.

        Having decided on the size, they begin to make the brazier. Experts advise using one solid strip of metal for this, which is bent in the right places, forming corners. At the junction, the ends of the strip are welded. This method allows you to shorten the manufacturing time and reduce the amount of welding.

        When marking the strip, add 2 cm to its width. Subsequently, these "extra" centimeters will be bent inward and form the basis for the bottom of the barbecue.

        Holes with a size of 15 mm are drilled in the bottom. The distance between the nearest holes should not be less than 30 mm.

        The second step in creating a decorative barbecue is to make a frame, for which the drawing of the selected ship is used. At the end, sheets of thin metal are attached to the prepared frame in accordance with the artistic idea - the skin of the ship. Some parts and decorations of the barbecue can be minted, and tackles and other thin elements can be made from wire, welding it in the right places. As part of finishing the barbecue with your own hands, you can paint it.
