The garage is a favorite pastime for every car enthusiast. It is here that every man feels as comfortable as possible. And it is in the garage that any car is safe. In the cold, winter time, when the garage doors are wide open, additional measures are needed to warm the room. In this case, garage curtains are perfect.

Peculiarities

If you are the proud owner of a garage, then you should definitely take care of additional insulation measures. Garage curtains will help you with this.

Every car enthusiast spends a lot of time in his garage. Here you can make minor repairs to your car, or just take a break from everyday life and city bustle. In the autumn and winter seasons, when cold air enters the garage, you definitely need a curtain that is attached directly to the gate. Thanks to this device, the cold will not suddenly penetrate into the room.

In addition, the curtain will reliably protect against dust and dirt from entering the garage.

Today there is a wide selection of such curtains. They are made of tarpaulin, PVC or just fabric with a special type of insulation. In addition, they still differ not only in material, but also in appearance. There are sliding, solid and even ribbon curtains.

Before choosing one or another option for yourself, pay attention to some useful tips and tricks:

  • if your garage is equipped with swing gates, then tape-type curtains will not work;
  • try to give preference to a more elastic material that during cold weather will not turn into a solid and motionless piece of fabric;
  • at the same time, pay attention to the fact that the material from which the curtain is made should be as dense as possible. Otherwise, cold air will still penetrate the room;
  • in addition, there are curtains on sale that are impregnated with a special composition, thanks to which they have a high fire resistance;
  • the most popular are products made of tarpaulin and PVC. The former, however, can get wet and heavy, but the latter do not get wet at all.

Materials (edit)

If you decide to make a curtain for the gate yourself, then you should study a little closer the materials that will be useful to you in this:

  • If you prefer tarpaulin, then it is worth remembering its main qualities. This is density and durability. Such material is absolutely not afraid of bad weather conditions and the test of time. The tarpaulin will serve as long as possible and, most importantly, that such matter does not rot. In addition, this material perfectly retains heat and is quite affordable for any car enthusiast.
  • Please note that very often there are fabrics that have already been impregnated with a special compound... Such fabrics are very safe to use and can reliably protect against accidental fire. If you want not only to protect the garage from the cold, but also to protect it from fire, then pay special attention to this.
  • If you are afraid that the fabric can become "wooden" in severe frost, then choose Pvc... This is exactly the material that is not afraid of even low temperatures and does not absorb moisture. In addition, this material is ideal for making curtains, as it is lightweight, can be easily washed from dirt and allows you to choose any color you like.

When choosing this type of material, pay attention to the fact that there are canvases with insulation. Such material creates an additional guarantee that the heat will be retained as much as possible in the room.

  • Many people prefer to choose synthetic types of fabrics, for example, "Oxford". Often such fabrics are covered with an additional layer of PVC for an even greater insulation effect.
  • By the way, you can often find already semi-finished canvases. That is, special holes are already provided on the canvas, thanks to which it can be easily and effortlessly fixed to the pipe.

When purchasing any canvas for making curtains on your own, be sure to take into account all the nuances that we described above.

Tips for making curtains with your own hands:

  • Before you start making your own protective curtain for your garage, measure the height of the opening in order to correctly perform the subsequent calculations. The product must close the bottom of the gate as tightly as possible so that the wind cannot penetrate the room.
  • As soon as you purchase the material that, in your opinion, is most suitable for the manufacture of garage curtains, you need to take care of a reliable fastening. Here, too, everything is simple: you should take into account the type of gate (swing, etc.), choose the most reliable type of fastening and accurately calculate the distance from the gate to the leaf itself.
  • Remember that the curtain should be attached to the doorway as tightly as possible, otherwise an air cushion will form, and cold air will still penetrate into the room.
  • You can fix the curtain on a regular cable or choose a more reliable option - a strong pipe made of metal. To make the curtain move as easily and conveniently as possible, give preference to the fastening rings, it will be more comfortable with them.
  • Experts recommend fixing the finished structure to the ceiling. Firstly, it is much more reliable, and secondly, it is easy to do it yourself.
  • By the way, the curtain, which you can make yourself from tarpaulin, can be easily attached directly to the wall. It is much faster and more convenient in terms of installation. Then a slit should be made in the canvas, which will serve as a door. On the sides of the walls, you can install special fastening hooks that will allow you to completely remove the canvas and open the garage passage.
