For relaxation and wellness procedures in a sauna or steam bath, you cannot do without special accessories. These include a bucket and a ladle. Such products can have different shapes and sizes, and can be made from different materials. All this must be taken into account when choosing.

Peculiarities

Scoops are most commonly used in saunas. They are designed to perform an important function: with their help, they collect water from a container and pour hot stones with it. This creates steam in the room. Its quantity will directly depend on the volume of the product. The sauna ladle should be equipped with a comfortable handle and should be of optimal dimensions. Its volume is selected depending on personal preference. Another necessary accessory in the bath is a ladle.

It performs other tasks: it is mainly used to pour liquid into cans, tanks and other containers. In addition, it is intended to be doused.

Buckets generally have a short handle. Such products are convenient when you need to take hot water from a built-in tank with a tap. If you need to draw cold water from a container, it is more convenient to use scoops. Often they are equipped with a handle with variable length, which is selected according to the size of the cold water tank. The deeper it is, the longer the handle should be. Otherwise, it will be inconvenient to scoop up the liquid.

The buckets are equipped with a vertical handle. Scoops can have both vertically and horizontally located handle. Products with horizontal handles are suitable for watering hot stones, which cannot be said about their counterparts with a vertical arrangement of the holder. In this case, there are great risks of getting burns in the steam room. The longer the vertical handle is, the safer it is to use the scoop.

Manufacturing materials

Sauna buckets and ladles are made of wood, various metals, and plastic. To decide which material to choose a product from, you need to find out their features, advantages and disadvantages.

Wood

Wood products are considered "traditional" for the bathhouse. They do not emit substances harmful to human health when heated. Their distinguishing feature is low thermal conductivity. Thanks to her, wood products practically do not heat up when hot water is collected in them. Due to this, touching the bucket, you can not get burned.

Wooden buckets are most often made from oak, aspen or linden, but other types of wood can be used. However, such material is short-lived. To extend its service life, finished products are impregnated with wax or oils.

There are two types of wooden buckets.

  • Composite (cooper). Visually, they look like mini-kegs with a handle. Cooper buckets are made of planks, which are connected in pairs. Such products do not crack, but when dry they may start to leak. To eliminate this misunderstanding, you will need to soak the scoop in cold water for a short time. Due to this, the boards will swell and the cracks will disappear.
  • Hollowed out from solid wood. They can also crack. To prevent the occurrence of cracks, after pair manipulations, it is necessary to leave a little water in the bucket bowl.

Wooden products fit perfectly into the interior of the sauna, due to which they are given more preference.

Metal

Metal bath buckets are very popular due to their durability.Such products will last much longer than wooden counterparts. The disadvantage of any metal is excellent thermal conductivity. Because of this, the products become very hot when drawing hot water and when the air temperature in the steam room rises. In order not to get burned, you need to choose bath accessories with a wooden handle.

In the manufacture of metal products, copper, brass, aluminum or stainless steel are most often used. They are chosen for a reason: these metals do not corrode. Copper ladles for a bath, along with brass, are considered the most expensive. Their high cost is due to the high cost of the material itself. However, expensive does not mean good. Copper, brass and aluminum oxidize over time, causing a dark coating to form on their surface. This spoils the aesthetics of the bath accessories. To return them to external perfection, you will have to use specialized formulations to remove oxides. Stainless steel buckets won't give you that much trouble. Regardless of the intensity of use, they are able to maintain their external perfection for a long time. Unlike brass and copper scoops, stainless steel products are much cheaper.

Heat resistant plastic

The products of this group are the cheapest. Despite the affordable price, they are practically not in demand. There is a simple explanation for this: plastic buckets are not suitable for a sauna interior. They do not fit into the overall picture and can visually spoil the external decoration of the steam room.

In general, plastic products are suitable for bath or sauna applications. For example, modern heat-resistant plastic is environmentally friendly: it does not emit harmful substances when heated and does not deform at high temperatures. In addition, the plastic will not glow if it is near the oven.

Glass

The most unfortunate material. However, some manufacturers use glass in the production of bath paraphernalia. Such products can be made from various types of glass. Often, when decorating, manufacturers use different techniques, thanks to which the buckets acquire an original and elegant design.

You should not just look at the appearance of the ladles. Their performance characteristics are much more important. Glass ladles are an unsuccessful option for a bath because of their high thermal conductivity. Glass can heat up quickly, slip in wet hands and break easily. That is why it is recommended to refuse to purchase glass products.

Criterias of choice

The range of bath ladles is extensive. The shape and volume of products are selected depending on personal preferences. However, there are some nuances. For example, scoops with a volume of 0.2-0.3 liters are considered the most suitable for watering stones. For a set of water and douches, options from 1 liter are best suited. When choosing a bucket, you must hold it in your hand. It is important that the grip is comfortable. If the budget is limited, you can look at products made of stainless steel or plastic. On sale there are original scoops made of these materials.

For some, the aesthetic side comes first. If bath design issues are important, you can buy buckets and buckets, and then purchase buckets in a similar style. For example, if there are utensils made of wood and metal in the bath, it is recommended to purchase wooden ladles with metal inserts.

Buckets can be any, but the main thing is that they meet important requirements: such products must be convenient, practical, environmentally friendly, reliable and safe in operation.
