Wrought iron gates have always been considered an element of luxury, from time immemorial they have been a visiting card and indicated the security and well-being of the family that lives in the house behind such gates.

Today, the appearance of the gate is still of great importance, their design and quality must certainly be at their best. Nowadays, everyone can afford to install chic wrought-iron gates in the courtyard of a private house, since the cost of such products is quite affordable. Wrought iron gates will emphasize the success, prosperity and excellent taste of their owners.

In addition to its very beautiful appearance, forged sliding gates have many more advantages and features, which we will dwell on in more detail in this article.

Sliding structure

The design of sliding gates is quite reliable and convenient. Such a gate opening mechanism is usually used in cases where there is not enough space at the entrance to the territory to use swing systems. The sliding system allows you to optimize the entry space to the adjoining territory to the maximum.

The opening can be as wide as possible, since the system provides only one sash.

The sliding gate design includes:

  • support for the entire mechanism (most often a channel);
  • frame - external frame for sash assembly;
  • inner lining - with elements of forging in the form of a variety of design elements - patterns, drawings, and so on. In addition to forged parts, additional solid fragments can also be used for filling, which will allow you to fence yourself off from prying eyes;
  • elements of the working mechanism - rollers that ensure the opening of the gate, catchers for stopping them, protective plugs and much more;
  • automation elements are optional, but with the help of an electric drive, the gate will become much more functional.

Forging options

Forged gate elements are the most significant parts in the appearance of products. The variety of different design options is just huge.

For example, the stitching can be made in the form of forged wood with the addition of openwork lace metal elements around it. Such a design would be very appropriate for decorating a gate near a log house.

Metal lining makes the structure more solid and reliable. Such products are perfect for any landscape design, and will also go well with stone fences.

Lining made of translucent polycarbonate sheets is also considered very relevant today - this material perfectly protects against extraneous noise from the street, but at the same time allows you to maintain a full view. And forged elements make the structure lighter, more airy and graceful.

Elements of forging with ethnic motives, silhouettes of animals, birds and mythical creatures (especially dragons) are considered popular and stylish today.

Forged geometric patterns remain relevant at any time.

Advantages and disadvantages

Forged sliding gates, like any other options for fences, have their own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages.

There are a lot of advantages of such gates, they include:

  • versatility - products can be selected for openings of any size, you just need to provide a sufficient amount of space for the system to roll back;
  • convenient installation - such a system can be installed at any time during the construction of the fence, since the installation is carried out in the space between the posts and does not interact with other elements of the fence;
  • possibility of individual production - you can order forged gates to order, then the manufacturers will take into account all your requirements and wishes for the design of the system, you can also provide your own sketch, according to which the products will be made;
  • beautiful and expensive appearance - emphasizes the status and prestige of the owner;
  • high quality, reliability and long service life - forged gates are made by hand from high quality metal, the gate wing has high rigidity and perfectly resists natural influences, as well as vandalism;
  • the ability to use a variety of coatings - modern coating options provide a wide selection of colors, and also perfectly protect the material of the product from negative natural influences;
  • suitable for any style of design - forged products will harmoniously fit into both classic design and ultramodern style;
  • possibility of using automation - this functionality makes the system even more versatile and convenient to use.

There is only one drawback of sliding gates, it concerns only the design of the product.

The peculiarity of rollback systems is that they definitely need to allocate free space for rollback. Therefore, when buying a product, it should be taken into account that the sash should be one and a half times wider than the width of the opening itself, which means there should be enough free space where the gate will roll back.

For example, if the opening is planned to be four meters wide, then the total length of the sash should be six meters. And, accordingly, there should be exactly the same amount of free space where the system will move.

It is because of this feature that sliding systems are not suitable for everyone; they can be installed only if there is enough free space on the side of the sash.

Product cost

The final cost of finished products depends on many factors, namely:

  • varieties of sewing material - it can be made with a profiled sheet, wood, metal, polycarbonate, or have an "open" version without sewing;
  • the complexity of decorative forging - the complexity of making decorative forged elements can be different, they are all made by hand, and the cost of their manufacture is quite high;
  • individual design - if you want to order a personal sketch from a designer, you will need to allocate additional funds to pay for his work;
  • the size of the structure and the amount of materials used.
