Golden domes - this is the name of a variety of beautiful tomatoes for a reason. The fruits are indeed very similar both in shape and even in color to the gold-domed domes of Russian churches. The tomato fell in love with summer residents from completely different parts of Russia. The culture tolerates quite well the cold and a number of ailments that nightshades are usually susceptible to. Farmers are also attracted by beautiful and large fruits and high crop yields.

Breeding history

The authors of this variety are Siberian breeders Ugarova, Dederko, Postnikova, who have been working on the development of regional varieties for a long time. After many years of testing, the Zolotye Kupola variety was recognized as a selection achievement and entered into the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2005.

Description of the variety

The tomato of the variety in question belongs to determinant, with a restriction in growth, therefore it grows from 90 cm to one and a half meters. However, in a greenhouse environment, the height will be more pronounced.

The shoots have an average number of pointed small leaves, the shape of which is slightly elongated, there are slight wrinkles and jagged edges. The color of the leaves is delicate emerald. The first flower brushes are in the area of 9 leaves, and then they will alternate through a leaf or two.

The main qualities of the fruit

As already mentioned, the shape of the tomatoes is heart-shaped, very similar to church domes. When tomatoes reach their peak of maturity, they turn bright orange. The size of the fruits reaches an average of 400 grams, but they can be larger, up to 750 g, if standardization is applied when growing a crop.

Each tomato has four seed chambers. Moreover, there is a moderate amount of seeds, but still they are enough to collect the seed, since this is a variety, not a hybrid.

Taste characteristics

The taste of the Golden Dome tomatoes is pleasant, many people like it. Since ripe tomatoes contain almost no acid, they can be included in the dietary menu for people suffering from high acidity. Therefore, they are mainly eaten fresh.

Unfortunately, the fruits are not stored for a long time, they are either used for summer salads, or processed. But large tomatoes are not suitable for canning, however, a nutritious juice of an unusual orange color is obtained from them, moreover, sauces, lecho and adjika will also be tasty and beautiful.

Ripening and fruiting

Golden domes are a mid-season culture. After sowing the seeds in 3.5 or 4 months, which is 90-100 days, it will be possible to start collecting ripe domed tomatoes.

Yield

The culture is considered a high-yielding crop, since 10.5 to 13.6 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from a square meter of plantings.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Variety Golden domes must be grown by seedlings. At the same time, it is planted approximately 55-60 days earlier before the seedlings are planted in the place of further growth.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Tomato bushes of the Golden Dome variety grow quite large, therefore, up to 4 plants can be placed per 1 m2.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

First of all, it is worth taking care of the seeds, which must first be planted in seedling containers, after which, when the first leaves appear, a pick should be made, the bushes should be planted in different cups or peat tablets. Before disembarking to a permanent place, they are tempered, from time to time taking them out into the street, gradually increasing the time spent on the balcony or in the yard.

Golden domes are not a standard variety, the shoots of the culture are not so strong. This means that the bushes should be tied up as the ovaries grow and develop, so that the stems do not break under the weight of large fruits. For further care, pinching is also characteristic. Optimally, the bushes are formed into three trunks. With this technology, the plant will bear fruit well, while a larger number of branches will cause chopping of fruits and a drop in yield.

In principle, caring for the culture in question is quite simple. It is only necessary to adhere to certain rules for growing this variety and carry out the appropriate procedures. It is enough to regularly water the Golden Dome tomatoes, weed and loosen the soil around the plants, periodically apply fertilizers, form bushes and remove stepchildren. Do not forget about the prevention of diseases and attacks of insect pests.

You should pay attention to the peculiarity of the Golden Dome tomatoes. If there is not enough moisture, the fruits may even burst. Therefore, it is important to carefully consider the irrigation regime. It will be useful to arrange a drip irrigation system on the beds. If this is not possible, planting will have to be watered two to three times a week.

After watering the next day, it is necessary to loosen the soil around the plants, while removing the weeds. It is worth feeding the tomato several times a season. For this, complex mineral fertilizers are used. Such feeding can be alternated with the introduction of organic matter (manure, bird droppings, herbal infusion).

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporiosis, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

The originators of the Zolotye Kupola variety promise that the culture will be well cultivated in almost any Russian territory. And also it can be grown both in an open garden and in greenhouses.
