Gina's TST tomato has established itself as a high-yielding domestic variety. It is not difficult to cope with a vegetable crop, so this variety is recommended for novice gardeners, without experience.

Description of the variety

Low bushes reach a height of 35-60 centimeters. Growth type - determinant (limited). Bushes are grown in greenhouses or in open areas, depending on the climatic characteristics of the region. As a rule, the fruits are eaten fresh, enjoying excellent gastronomic qualities. Branching is medium. Shoots are covered with medium-sized green leaves.

During the flowering period, the bushes form small yellow flowers that gather in simple inflorescences. The first brush is laid over the 9th sheet. From 5 to 6 tomatoes are formed on it at the same time.

The main qualities of the fruit

Unripe tomatoes are green in color, while ripe tomatoes are easily identified by their bright red color. The average weight of vegetables reaches 200 grams, but sometimes it is possible to grow vegetables in weight up to 300-400 grams. The sizes are large, in width the fruits reach 7-8 centimeters. Shape - slightly ribbed, round. The pulp is moderately dense and very juicy, not watery. The skin is smooth, glossy, without wrinkles. When cut, 6 to 8 seed nests can be found.

Due to the dense peel, the tomatoes retain their shape remarkably without cracking. The crop is often grown commercially as tomatoes can easily tolerate long-term transportation.

Taste characteristics

Ripe vegetables are noted for their balanced and pleasant taste. It harmoniously combines sweetness and sourness.

Ripening and fruiting

The ripening period of the crop is from 110 to 115 days, so the variety is considered mid-season. Tomatoes are harvested from July to August. Tomatoes can be left to ripen in bushes or picked and transferred to a dark and cool place. The maximum fruiting occurs in the first half of July.

Despite the fact that the fruits of this variety are recommended to be eaten fresh, they are considered universal. Tomatoes are used not only for the preparation of salads and vegetable snacks, but also for the following dishes and delicacies: juice, dressing, pasta, vegetable caviar, preparation for the winter, various types of preservation. Due to their large size, tomatoes are not chosen for whole fruit canning.

Yield

Gina TST is a high-yielding variety. An average of 6 kilograms of tomatoes are harvested from one square meter of land. From one bush, you can get from 2 to 2.5 kilograms of vegetables. The maximum harvest can be achieved in the southern regions. There, from one meter of plantation, you can get up to 15-20 kilograms of fruit.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Experienced gardeners celebrate the following dates:

  • for sowing seedlings - the period from March to early April;
  • planting bushes in the ground - May-early summer.

Sowing seed is recommended in the second half of March. With proper cultivation, seedlings appear quickly, and after 45-50 days, the seedlings can be transferred to a permanent planting site. Some gardeners in the southern regions choose the seedless way of growing vegetables. In this case, the grains are sown under a film to create a greenhouse effect. The work is done at the end of April, and the first tomatoes are harvested at the end of July.

In other regions, it is advisable to grow the variety by the seedling method. A suitable soil mixture can be prepared independently (peat and garden soil are mixed in equal proportions, with the addition of wood ash and sand chips) or purchased ready-made. The soil is also disinfected with a slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate (1%) or hydrogen peroxide (3%).

Saplings are grown in greenhouses, covered with a thick film or transparent glass. Temperature range - 25-27 degrees Celsius. The lack of sunlight is compensated by phytolamps. After 7 days, the shelter is removed, and after the formation of three leaves, the young bushes are seated in separate containers. The temperature begins to slowly decrease to room temperature. A week after the pick, complex fertilizing with minerals is introduced into the ground. Seedlings are hardened 10-15 days before transplanting. Containers with plants are tempered at a temperature of 15-17 degrees Celsius.

After transferring the bushes to a permanent place of cultivation, they should be irrigated regularly, about 1-2 times a week. Complex fertilizers or organic matter are also applied. Plants are fertilized every 2-3 weeks. The soil around the bushes is loosened, and weeds are removed. When growing tomatoes in greenhouses, the room must be regularly ventilated.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

When forming bushes in 2 stems per square meter, 3 bushes are grown, when choosing the option of 1 stem, the number of plants can be increased to 4 pieces. In greenhouse conditions, tomatoes are planted in a checkerboard pattern, leaving a gap of 50 centimeters between them, and between adjacent rows - from 60-70 centimeters.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

To get a rich harvest, you need to grow bushes in loose and airy soil. To prepare suitable soil at home, you need to mix part of the sand, with part of humus and sod land. Part of the peat is also added there. All components are thoroughly mixed and sieved. You can also buy ready-made substrate. The earth is cultivated with a weak solution of potassium permanganate. This component nourishes the soil with minerals and also accelerates seed growth.

When choosing a place for cultivating the Gina TST variety, it is necessary to take into account which crops were previously grown on a particular site. If peppers, potatoes, physalis or eggplants have previously grown on the site, it is advisable to choose another place for growing. An area where legumes, lettuce, carrots or onions used to grow is great.

Artificial pollination is carried out when growing vegetables in greenhouses. They are engaged in the preparation of the beds in the fall. They are fed with organic compounds, and the site itself is carefully dug up. Manual pollination significantly improves fruiting.

Fertilize plants during the formation of ovaries and ripening of the crop. The first portion of dressings is applied about half a month after transplanting the seedlings. Then the nutrients are added after a week and a half. The third time the tomatoes are fertilized after another 2 weeks. The fourth portion of dressings is applied after 20 days. At this time, irrigation becomes more frequent.

Herbal infusions and complex formulations rich in minerals demonstrate high efficiency. To protect plants from the negative influence of pathogenic organisms and to increase the safety of fruits, watering is carried out three times a month using a weak solution of potassium permanganate. The bushes are also sprayed with protective agents for the prevention of diseases. Special substances will protect the crop from infections and dangerous insects.

Tomatoes are watered about twice a week so that a dry crust does not appear on the surface of the earth. Weeds should be removed as soon as they appear. With fruiting, the frequency of irrigation becomes more frequent. At an air temperature of 28 degrees, the plants are watered every day.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
