Among the tomatoes popular in our country, the Fighter variety stands out. It was bred relatively recently, but immediately gained popularity among gardeners. The tomato of this variety has many advantages that deserve the attention of farmers and hobbyists.

Breeding history

This variety has two equivalent names - Fighter and Brawler. The first name is considered classic, it is under it that the tomato is recorded in the State Register. Buyan tomato was nicknamed by gardeners, but both names indicate a bag of seeds. They brought the tomato to SibNIIRS, in 2000 it was recorded in the registers. This variety is recommended for planting in different regions, large and small farms.

Description of the variety

Frost resistance and excellent drought resistance are considered a huge advantage of this variety. Thanks to these properties, the Fighter has earned popularity among summer residents, who only occasionally appear on the site. This plant grows well without daily moisture, even in hot periods. Another advantage is that there is no need for pruning the bushes, ease of maintenance. If you are taking your first steps in gardening, this strain is exactly what you need. Good immunity is another plus of this plant. The visual characteristics are as follows:

  • stunted type bush, standard;

  • the height is usually no more than 40 cm;

  • since the bush is of a determinant type, growth stops on its own;

  • due to its compactness, the plant does not take up much space;

  • shoots are formed with medium activity, there are also few foliage, stepchildren do not require removal;

  • inflorescences are simple;

  • the peduncle is dark;

  • foliage is medium in size, corrugated type, color - dark green.

The main qualities of the fruit

The fruits of the Fighter variety have a middle shape between an oval and a cylinder, they have a traditional look. The color can be red or yellow, until ripe they are pale green in color. Fruits quickly reach ripeness, can be harvested in green form, ripen after harvest and do not lose their taste. The seeds can be used to form seedlings. The fruits of this variety are not too large, rather medium, the weight can vary from 70 to 180 g. The pulp is quite juicy, for an early variety of excellent consistency. Each fruit has 3 to 4 seed chambers. The skin is of a smooth type, very strong, even in bad weather and remains intact when preserved.

Taste characteristics

The fleshy fruits of the Fighter variety are distinguished by their classic tomato flavor. It is not very bright, but quite rich for the early varieties. Tomatoes are used both fresh and for pickling, pickling, drying, drying.

Ripening and fruiting

This variety belongs to the early ripening period, this characteristic attracts gardeners. The first tomatoes can be removed after three months or more. Weather conditions have practically no effect on the timing of ripening and fruiting. Regardless of drought, rains, they ripen actively and evenly. The fighter grows well not only in greenhouses, but also in the open field.

Yield

Despite the short stature, the yield is of a good level. You can count on harvesting from 2.5 to 3 kg per square meter. Greenhouse cultivation increases the amount of the crop, you can collect up to 4.5 kg per square meter.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Tomatoes The soldier is planted by the method of forming seedlings, the sowing time is standard for tomatoes. It is necessary to calculate 2 months before planting seedlings in open ground. For example, if the approximate landing date is early June, the seedlings should be planted in early April. Within a week and a half, shoots appear. After 50-60 days, the seedlings already become fully viable, they can be planted.

Do not forget to treat the seeds with special preparations. If the sun is not enough, you need to provide additional artificial lighting for the seedlings. Planting is carried out in a common box, after two leaves, they dive into separate containers. The required temperature is about +25 degrees before the shoots appear, then the temperature is reduced to +18.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is recommended to plant tomatoes of this variety in the ground according to the scheme - 8 bushes or less per square meter. Such a scheme is considered optimal, subject to high-quality feeding. A handful of ash and humus is introduced into each hole; there is no need for support at the planting stage. Seating type - transshipment, watering and mulching is required.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

There are no noticeable difficulties in caring for this plant, since the bushes do not stretch, they should not be formed. It is enough to tie it to a support when the fruits begin to ripen, otherwise the tomatoes will pull the branches to the ground. pinching is carried out at the beginning of the summer period, everything is removed from the soil to the first brush with inflorescences. Watering is carried out regularly, but adjusted for the weather - once every 5 or 7 days is quite enough to a depth of 30 cm.

For high yields, it is necessary to feed the plant on time and competently:

  • mineral compositions are required by the Fighter during the period of inflorescence formation;

  • useful organic feeding with infusions of mullein, herbs;

  • fertilizers are especially needed in bad weather conditions, but root application in cold weather is ineffective;

  • leaf fertilizers are more effective in cool weather, for this they combine water, mineral composition, humate, low-fat milk;

  • with foliar feeding, the leaves are moistened from below.

If you properly care for the soil, the yield of tomatoes of this variety will be at a high level. Therefore, it is important to systematically restore fertility. In the autumn, it is necessary to clean up the site, remove roots, weeds, stems, and dig up the soil. In the same period, the soil is fed with humus - one bucket per one square meter. In the spring, the soil is fed with minerals, it is better not to apply manure, as the risk of late blight increases.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
Methods for tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation,as well as varieties. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

In order for the plant's immunity to remain strong, it is important to follow the rules of crop rotation on the site. Although a fighter is famous for his persistent health, it is important to take into account the following points when landing:

  • do not plant tomatoes in the immediate vicinity of potatoes;

  • refuse to plant varieties on the ground, which last year was given under the nightshade - peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes.

In the fall, sow the future tomato growing zone with rye; with rotting stems, the reproduction of substances that kill pathogenic flora and a variety of fungi is stimulated. Compliance with these rules can reduce the risk of pest attacks and various diseases. In addition, seedlings planted in holes between rye green in spring take root better. After the formation of the bushes, the rye is cut and laid out in the same place - in the garden.

In any case, preventive measures are necessary for the quality development of the plant. If there were cases of late blight infection near your site or on it itself, it is necessary to carry out prevention. The processing of stems and foliage is carried out with Bordeaux liquid. Spraying must be repeated every 10 days using conventional spray guns or other methods. If symptoms are found on the foliage, it is necessary to immediately carry out the treatment with "Oxyhom" or "Acrobat".

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporiosis, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
