Each summer resident has several favorite varieties of tomatoes, which he grows constantly, knowing that there will be a good harvest. One of these is considered by many to be an early variety of tomatoes with the unusual name Batianya.

Breeding history

This tomato variety was bred by Novosibirsk breeders Postnikova and Dederko in 2007. The culture was entered into the State Register in 2008 as a variety grown both in open ground and in greenhouse conditions. The species is approved for cultivation in all regions of the country.

Description of the variety

Tomato Batianya is not a hybrid. The plant is a tall bush of an indeterminate type of growth, reaching a height of 120-150 cm. In a greenhouse, the bush grows up to 2 meters. Tomato bushes are quite powerful, branch well, grow quickly, so you cannot do without pinching and garter to the supports. In addition, the bushes are characterized by large dark green leaves and simple, abundant yellow inflorescences, of which up to 6 fruits are tied. Formation is possible in 1 or 2 stems.

The main qualities of the fruit

The Batianya variety has such a name for a reason, since it is characterized by weighty dimensions (about 200 grams) in the open field and up to 300-330 g in a greenhouse. This is extremely rare in early maturing varieties. The tomato has an unusual heart-shaped shape with a small "nose" and a beautiful raspberry-pink color. Outwardly, Batianya resembles everyone's favorite type of Bull Heart. In an unripe state, the fruit has an irregular green color with a dark spot at the base, which turns yellow as it ripens. The tomato skin is firm, smooth and slightly shiny. It is the skin that protects the tomato from cracking and preserves it during transportation. The keeping quality of this species is not very long.

Taste characteristics

Batyan's tomatoes have a very high and impressive taste. They are sweet, without pronounced sourness. The pulp of the fruit is pale pink, juicy, fragrant, sugary, with a small amount of seeds, which upsets summer residents who dream of collecting them for planting next year. The variety is ideal for fresh consumption, for preparing salads, and also ideal for processing into juices, sauces, dressings.

Ripening and fruiting

The variety is early maturing, therefore the period of growth and ripening takes only 90-95 days (from the first shoots to the tasting period of the fruit). Ripening terms directly depend on growing conditions. Fruiting in the culture is long, and ripening is gradual, which allows you to enjoy fresh tomatoes for a long time. Active fruiting begins in July and lasts until the onset of stable cold weather.

Yield

The crop yield is good. In the conditions of growth in the ground, 2 kg / m2 are collected. In greenhouses, the yield is slightly higher - up to 6-10 kg / m2. The quality and quantity of the crop is affected by compliance with the rules of agricultural technology.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

An early variety is grown using seedlings, which require seeds. Before sowing, the seeds are checked for suitability. To do this, they are dipped into a glass of salt water. Those seeds that fall on the bottom of the pot are suitable for sowing, and the rest are thrown away. Salt water is thoroughly washed off the seeds before sowing. After sowing seeds, they need a warm and dark place. After germination, this happens on the 5-7th day, the containers with the seed are placed in a well-lit room. After the appearance of several real tomato leaves on the bush, it is recommended to cut them apart into separate containers. Growing seedlings will take 60-65 days.

Planting seedlings in open ground is carried out during a period when there is no scorching sun. That is, early in the morning or in the evening.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is recommended to plant no more than 3-4 bushes of seedlings per 1 m2 in order to prevent thickening, which will negatively affect the yield and quality of tomatoes. Landing scheme - 50x40 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For Batyan's tomatoes, it is necessary to select in advance a site with fertile soil that allows air to pass through well, not knocked down, not excessively humid. Before planting, the site is cleared of weeds and debris, saturated with mineral and organic fertilizers. In addition, the culture loves the sun, so it is good if the sun's rays fall on the site. It is recommended to plant seedlings when there is no longer a threat of night frosts.

Nursing procedures are timely watering, which is performed through grooves along the bushes, regular feeding (potassium and phosphorus), because tomatoes grow large, and the plant requires incredible strength, as well as careful fluffing of the soil, in order to avoid crust formation, pinching and tying bushes ...

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety has high immunity, therefore, the plant practically does not suffer from late blight. As a preventive measure, it is recommended to spray with special solutions.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The culture's tolerance to temperature extremes is at a high level. In addition, the plant quickly adapts to the climate and soil, forming ovaries in both heat and cool periods. It is also worth noting that tomatoes are drought tolerant. In regions where the return of night frosts is possible, it is recommended to use a shelter.

Growing regions

The variety is capable of growing and producing good yields in different climatic zones of Russia and Ukraine. In the southern regions, as well as in areas with moderate weather conditions, tomatoes are grown in open ground, in the northern ones - in greenhouses.

Review overview

Batian's tomatoes are a seed crop that is massively grown both by gardeners and farmers for commercial purposes. Most gardeners characterize the variety as not capricious, quickly adapting to conditions and soils, resistant to the invasion of pests, as well as many diseases. In addition, all the housewives, without exception, point to the incredible taste of tomatoes, their juiciness and aroma.
