Plants that have proven themselves well over a long period of time deserve no less respect than newly bred varieties. That is why all gardeners should know about the features of the Oxheart tomato. It is necessary to understand the specifics of its cultivation and the possibilities that can be achieved with competent agriculture.

Breeding history

The Bull Heart variety was created at the breeding facilities of the Poisk agrofirm. It was registered and allowed for mass use in 2003. There are, however, other statements. In some sources they write what a plant is - the fruit of folk selection, imported from Italy. However, the fact is that in 2001 the employees of "Search" filed the first author's application, which was satisfied 2 years later.

Description of the variety

A bovine heart is a good determinant tomato. It is recommended to plant it both in open ground and in greenhouses under a film. The bushes are of the medium-sized type. They are capable of growing up to 1.5 m at best. The number of leaves is small, medium size and simple green color are typical for them.

The main qualities of the fruit

When the berries of the Oxheart have just formed, but have not yet ripened, they will be green. The spot near the peduncle is typical for this variety. But it is not too significant in size. Ripe berries are completely red in color. The mass of a single tomato fluctuates quite strongly, on average from 108 to 225 g.

The culture got its name for the appearance of the fruits. They really do visually resemble a heart. One cluster can develop from 1 to 5 tomatoes.

Taste characteristics

This variety is considered extremely tasty compared to many other varieties. The flesh of each tomato will be fleshy. It is worth noting its decent density, which will definitely delight even the most discerning eaters. Sweetness is unambiguously dominant. Sour notes are present, but they are not too noticeable and do not spoil the overall impression.

Ripening and fruiting

The bovine heart matures quite late. The formation of ripe fruits takes from 120 to 130 days after the appearance of green shoots. Sometimes, due to bad weather, this period is additionally shifted. But on the other hand, you can feast on tomatoes when a number of other varieties are already finishing fruiting.

Yield

The ability to collect from 3 to 4 kg of fruits per 1 sq. m. Because the Bull's Heart, although not the most prolific variety, still deserves the attention of farmers. Most of the harvested berries are consumed fresh. There is information that some owners managed to increase the harvest in the open land up to 5 kg. But for this it was necessary to work thoroughly.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The long growing season, even in the southern regions of the Russian Federation, does not allow abandoning seedlings. Transplantation into open ground is carried out no earlier than the seedlings reach the age of 70 days. In this case, one must also be guided by their real state and current weather conditions. Additionally, they leave about a week - preferably even 10 days - for seedling formation.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all.All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Suppliers of planting material insist that it is necessary to plant the bushes according to the rule of 700x300 mm. The practice of gardeners also shows that this is a very decent option. The row spacing must be at least 1000 mm. It must be understood that the landing scheme itself is hardly worth limiting yourself to - you will have to devote a lot of time to other concerns.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Seeds of their own harvest or obtained from unofficial sources must be disinfected in any case. The seeds treated with a solution of potassium permanganate or hydrogen peroxide are additionally washed in clean water. Soil for seedlings is either bought ready-made, or taken in the garden (in the forest). In the second option, you need to calcine it for 1/4 hour in the oven at a temperature of 200-220 degrees. Covering the seedlings with glass or film is useful - but periodically this cover is removed so that the plants are ventilated and not affected by mold.

When 2 or 3 true leaves appear, the tomato is transplanted in separate containers. The bovine heart suffers greatly from fluctuations in moisture and begins to crack from excess water. Therefore, excessive watering for this variety is categorically contraindicated. It is better to water it sparingly, and then use mulch up to 7 cm thick so that the water regime changes more smoothly. The average water consumption per 1 bush is 3 liters per week, excluding the amount of precipitation.

At an early stage of development, the tomato needs nitrogen feeding. The most preferred are ready-made mixtures originally intended for such a plant. If organic fertilizers are used, then after 3 days after that, they will certainly lay ash next to the bushes. It is not necessary to use a lot of it - one tomato is enough for 60 g. Stepsons are removed up to the initial flower bud, and higher ones are used in the formation of a bush.

A serious weakness of the Bovine heart is susceptibility to late blight. Its prevention must be taken seriously. Treatments are carried out after 7 days and 21 days after disembarkation at the site. All infected leaves are sent to the trash or burned, they are not suitable for compost. Harvesting is possible both in terms of technical and biological ripeness.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
