Reliable resistance to most diseases typical for tomatoes, unpretentious care, good yield, high nutritional parameters, excellent transportability and preservation have gained great popularity of the Golden Fleece variety among gardeners in many regions of Russia.

Breeding history

The culture of the Golden Fleece was the fruit of the hard work of the staff of Agrofirma Poisk LLC (V. Ogneva, S. Maksimova, N. Klimenko, A. Kostenko). It was registered in the State Register in 2008. The variety is zoned in a significant part of the territory of our country. It is grown both on open soils and under various shelters.

Description of the variety

Determinant tomatoes (stop growing on their own), form powerful, stocky, erect bushes, slightly lodging under the weight of the fruit. Bushes do not require removal of stepsons, tying and shaping. Their height reaches 45-55 cm.

The dimensions of the green, abundantly growing leaves are medium. The leaves have a typical tomato configuration, slightly elongated, with pointed ends, dark emerald shades.

The first inflorescences are formed after the appearance of 7-12 leaves, then they appear every 3 leaves. The first fruits are formed approximately 3 months after planting seeds for seedlings and continue to ripen until the beginning of September.

The fruits are universal in use - they are used both in salads and in blanks, they have excellent marketable properties, they perfectly tolerate transportation. The culture is not afraid of most nightshade diseases.

The flowers are yellow, small in size, grouped in racemose inflorescences with 5-7 ovaries.

Pluses of culture:

  • compactness of bushes;
  • resistance to a number of diseases typical for tomatoes;
  • unpretentiousness;
  • dimensional uniformity of fruits;
  • high level of productivity;
  • it is possible to collect seeds to form a seed fund, since the variety is not hybrid;
  • there is no need for pinching and tying plants;
  • original and attractive presentation of the fruit.

The main qualities of the fruit

Fruits with a dense structure (good in whole-fruit canning), ovoid configuration, with an average weight of 90-100 g, yellow in color. The consistency of the fruit is compacted, with 2-3 seed chambers, the number of seeds in them is average.

Fruits are distinguished by the fact that they contain a significant amount of beta-carotene (antioxidant), which helps prevent cardiovascular and a number of oncological diseases. The provitamin A contained in them strengthens the skeletal system, immunity, improves the condition of the skin and hair, positively affects the organs of vision, and prevents the occurrence of cataracts.

Ripe tomatoes do not crack, they endure transportation over long distances without losing their marketable properties. Crops are stored for a long time.

Taste characteristics

In terms of taste, the fruits of the Golden Fleece variety are pleasant, sweetish, with a slight sourness.

Ripening and fruiting

In terms of ripening, the culture is classified as an early-ripening species - the first ripened fruits appear 85-98 days after sowing the seeds.The fruiting process continues almost until the end of the summer period. Abundant fruiting.

Yield

The variety is high-yielding - yields up to 6 kg / sq. m. The main harvest takes place from about July 15 to August 20.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The recommended sowing for seedlings is organized in the period of March 20-30, and the planting of seedlings in the soil - May 10-20.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The optimal landing pattern is 70x60 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

Like a significant part of other varieties, this species belongs to the group of heat-loving plants. For this reason, the process of growing it takes place with the help of seedlings. Cultivation of a culture includes a number of typical stages:

  • seed preparation procedure;
  • soil preparation for seedlings;
  • planting seeds and caring for seedlings;
  • planting seedlings in open soil and leaving before picking the fruits.

For planting seeds, ordinary garden soil is quite suitable, which is mixed in various proportions with humus, sand, peat and sod soil. For 10 liters of nutritious consistency, add 1/2 cup of ash. The land must be treated with fungicides or watered with a weak solution of manganese.

Another way to disinfect the prepared soil is to calcine it in an oven (at a temperature of no more than 100 ° C, otherwise the nutritional qualities of the soil are noticeably reduced).

The finished consistency is laid out in containers, which are first thoroughly washed with laundry soap, and then kept for about 30 minutes in a manganese solution.

In the phase of appearance of 1-2 leaves, young plants should be transplanted from small containers into large containers filled with new soil fed with mineral fertilizers. Warmth is more important to the crop than moisture conditions in the soil. Nevertheless, for the productive development of culture, it should be 50-60%. At higher air humidity, the quality of the pollination process of flowers may deteriorate and fall off. Seedlings should be irrigated using a spray bottle, loosening the soil, feeding it with liquid fertilizers.

Seed planting is carried out taking into account the weather characteristics of the growing region. In this case, the seedlings should be taken out for 1-2 hours in the open air, where the seedlings get used to the wind and daytime conditions. If such hardening is not done, then the seedlings planted in the ground will have to be sheltered from the wind and sunlight until they fully adapt to the new conditions.

Seedlings are planted in open soil about 1.5-2 months after sowing, when 5-7 leaves and the first blooming brush appear on the stems.

Care for the Golden Fleece is done in a standard way. The culture is watered moderately, under the roots, preferably with settled water. The variety requires regular weeding and removal of the lower leaves on the stems. During the period of productive growth, the culture is fed several times.

The best planting precursors for the variety are legumes, cabbage and greens.

Before planting, the beds must be clean, and each hole must be pre-watered and fertilized. The complex of measures for plant care contains regular weeding, loosening of the soil and hilling.

Irrigation is carried out 1-2 times every 6-7 days; in cool, cloudy weather or in a rainy season, the number of irrigations is reduced.We do not recommend irrigating plant stems, leaves and ovaries, otherwise the likelihood of fungal diseases increases.

Fertilizers are applied 2-3 times. In this sense, a solution of poultry droppings or mullein with water in a ratio of 1: 10 is perfect. In addition to organic substances, mineral compositions with potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus should also be used.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The culture has excellent resistance to most diseases typical for tomatoes; it is not afraid of the tobacco mosaic virus throughout the growing season. It tolerates natural disasters well.

With a lack of ventilation and high humidity in greenhouses, there is a possibility of late blight disease in the bushes.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

The variety is successfully grown in the North, North-West, Central, Volgo-Vyatka, TsChO, North Caucasian, Middle Volga, Nizhnevolzhsky, Ural, West Siberian, East Siberian and other regions of Russia.
