Determinate tomatoes are a favorite with many gardeners. But it is very important for them to update their collection of fruit crops at least periodically. And for this purpose it would be a good idea to use the Vermilion variety.

Breeding history

The culture was allowed for practical cultivation on the territory of the Russian Federation in 2015. It was developed by Niromen Global INC. The Dutch developers put all their experience into the project, so they managed to achieve excellent resistance to various pathologies.

Description of the variety

The official synonym for culture is Vermilion F1. Bushes are undersized (no more than 70 cm). But these compact plants are powerful, with a lot of leaves. The foliage itself is plain green and is medium in size.

The main qualities of the fruit

Light green unripe tomatoes are devoid of the spots in the area of the stalk, which is typical for a number of other varieties. Having matured, Vermilion turns pink. Neither spots, nor streaks or blotches are characteristic of a healthy crop. The usual weight of berries ranges from 184 to 213 g, they have a flat-round shape. Although the rind is thin, it is very strong. The keeping quality of this culture is also excellent.

Taste characteristics

The flesh of Vermilion is firm, fleshy and tender. A characteristic "sugar" effect appears at its break. The quality of the fruits is quite high, and they are liked by at least 1/3 of gardeners. The crop can be used as a diet food, in vegetable salads or for processing. When canning, the peel does not burst, the flesh also remains firm.

Ripening and fruiting

Vermilion is a representative of the mid-season tomato category. It takes 80-85 days to fully ripen. You can remove the fruits in:

  • July;

  • August;

  • September.

Yield

The culture belongs to high-yielding varieties. Suppliers of planting material declared the ability to produce up to 13.3 kg per 1 sq. m. This allows the variety to remain one of the favorites in agriculture.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The seedling preparation time is quite flexible. Seeds can be planted from January to April inclusive. The term is chosen independently, taking into account the needs and plans. It is worth doing everything so that the seedlings are fully strengthened by the time they are transplanted into the open ground.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is recommended to land according to the 500x500 mm system. Experiments of any kind are not worth doing. Anyway, the officially proposed option is best suited.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business.In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Agrotechnics - typical for determinant varieties. Watering must be regular, otherwise the roots will not develop properly. Long breaks in irrigation will also worsen the quality of the fruit. It is difficult to obtain a high yield without mulching. Top dressing should not contain a lot of nitrogen.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Resistance to major tomato infections is very high. Therefore, fungal diseases practically do not reduce fertility. This property is extremely important for industrial cultivation. The danger of late blight is also insignificant. He can infect Vermilion only in the wet cold season, and, moreover, only in open ground.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The Vermilion tomato can easily survive sudden temperature spikes. He is not afraid of the rather long negative effects of the weather. In both cases, the plant will quickly recover from the stress experienced. He is not afraid even of strong winds and excessive moisture. Moreover, even the risk of sunburn is small.
