Orange and yellow-fruited tomato varieties are very popular among consumers and gardeners. An unusually sweet dessert taste, a large amount of antioxidants, the ability to eat for children and people with allergies to red vegetables and fruits have allowed them to take place in most collections of their favorite varieties. The attractive sweet fruit makes it possible to teach babies to tomatoes. An excellent representative of yellow-fruited tomatoes is the universal variety Yellow Truffle with high marketability, keeping quality, transportability. The plant is intended for growing in open ground and greenhouses. The purpose is salad, but its performance makes it possible to use berries for whole-fruit canning, cooking original ones due to the color palette and taste of sauces and juices.

Breeding history

The history of the origin of the series is unclear, in many publications the data differ. One thing is for sure - the variety is not listed in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation. Judging by the name, the tomato must be from the Land of the Rising Sun, however, seed companies selling seeds claim that the series belongs to the work of domestic breeders.

Description of the variety

Tall (150-200 cm) indeterminate bushes form long, weak stems that need support and tying. The stems are covered with medium-sized bright green foliage with a classic tomato flavor. Unique flowers with a black-purple shade of petals are collected in simple inflorescences attached to a weak peduncle, which is why the brushes also need to be tied up. On each brush, 5-7 berries are tied.

Advantages of the variety:

  • strong immunity;

  • attractive appearance;

  • good keeping quality and transportability;

  • sweet taste and versatility in use.

There are no significant shortcomings in Yellow Truffle, except for the need to adhere to agricultural techniques, the formation of a bush and tying. However, these are the requirements of most varieties and hybrids of the crop, as well as the need to grow tall specimens in cold regions under greenhouse conditions.

The main qualities of the fruit

Unripe green berries become deep yellow with an orange undertone at the stage of technical and physiological ripeness. Fruits weighing 90-150 g have a pear-shaped, slightly ribbed shape, are not prone to cracking, but are able to dry out in the region of the stalk with a moisture deficit. Tomatoes can be harvested unripe as they ripen well at home, especially in a darkened room.

Taste characteristics

The fleshy juicy pulp is covered with a delicate but dense skin, which explains the excellent transportability and keeping quality. The increased amount of sugars explains the sweet dessert taste, and a large amount of nutrients speeds up metabolism, improves the overall emotional background. The berry contains:

  • lycopene, phytoene and carotene;

  • niacin, neosporin, fiber;

  • organic acids, glucose and carotenoids.

In addition, the fruits contain vitamins A, B, C. The section shows 4-5 seed chambers with a small amount of seeds.

Ripening and fruiting

Truffle yellow belongs to the mid-ripening category of tomatoes - 110-120 days pass from sowing to ripening. The variety is distinguished by a friendly return of the harvest.

Yield

In terms of yield, the tomato is considered average, but experienced gardeners achieve significant results using all possible and acceptable agricultural techniques. Average figures are 3-4 kg per bush, but figures from 4 to 5 kilograms are recorded, or 12-15 kg per square meter.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Seedlings are planted in a permanent place 60-65 days after sowing the seeds, so the timing of planting varies depending on the region. In the southern regions of the Russian Federation, the variety is planted in early-late April in greenhouses, in early-mid May in open ground. The dates are seriously shifting closer to the northern regions. In Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, tomatoes are planted in glass, polycarbonate, film greenhouses at the end of May. Outdoors Truffles are not grown in climatic zones with short summers.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The optimal planting pattern is no more than 2-3 roots per square meter, or 50x50 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

Truffle yellow is grown in seedlings, after hardening young plants. 2 weeks before transplanting, seedlings begin to be taken out into the street or unheated balconies, gradually accustoming them to the sun's rays and outside temperature. It is desirable that by the time of planting the seedlings can spend the night outside.

The planting site must have a good degree of light - permanent darkening is not suitable for the variety. The soil should be fertile, loose, with moderate acidity. The selected area is enriched with organic matter (humus, compost, bird droppings), complex mineral fertilizers and wood ash are added to the holes. Since tall bushes need support, stakes are immediately installed in the ridges, or a trellis is organized. After planting a young plant, the earth is compacted, watered with warm, settled water. The next day, the resulting crust must be loosened to provide the root system with access to oxygen.

Further care consists in the formation of a bush in 1-2 stems, pinching and tying. As the fruit clusters form, the lower leaf is cut off, trying to avoid thickening and achieving good ventilation. Regular, but moderate watering, weeding, loosening, hilling, sanitizing are required.

2 weeks after planting, the plants are fed with a nitrogen-containing composition; during the period of ovary formation, tomatoes need potassium-phosphorus fertilizers. Throughout the season, mineral dressings are alternated with organic ones. Tomatoes are very responsive to mullein infusion, "green tea" from fermented nettle infusion with the addition of bread leftovers.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult.After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The strong immunity of the plant successfully protects it from fungal and bacterial diseases. It resists some pests well, but young plants are unable to cope with such aggressors as:

  • bear;

  • rusty mite;

  • Colorado potato beetle, whitefly and others.

To prevent the appearance of symptoms of diseases or pests, it is necessary to apply preventive treatments with insecticides and fungicides.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The variety is quite thermophilic, therefore, despite the indicated resistance to extreme weather conditions, it does not tolerate strong changes in daily temperatures in cold regions, which affects fruiting. That is why Yellow Truffle is grown only in greenhouses where temperate climatic zones begin.

Growing regions

Tomatoes are grown in all regions of Russia, since a polycarbonate greenhouse can be installed everywhere. For growing in open ground, the variety is adapted for the Crimea, Krasnodar Territory, Kuban, North Caucasus.
