Today there are more than 100 species of cherry tomatoes belonging to modern hybrids. One of them is the Terek tomato. This early ripe hybrid is loved by many for its quality characteristics: it is resistant to disease, stress, has a good yield and excellent taste.

Breeding history

The first generation hybrid Terek is the fruit of Russian selection. The work was carried out by a group of specialists consisting of N.S. Gorshkova, A. N. Khovrin, T. A. Tereshonkova, N. N. Klimenko. for growing in film greenhouses.

Description of the variety

Indeterminate type of growth, tall plant. Therefore, a garter is needed. The fruits are formed on long, beautiful clusters and can be simple or complex. There is an intermediate inflorescence. Each brush has 15 to 30 small tomatoes that hang down nicely. Leaves are of medium length, green in color.

The main qualities of the fruit

Terek's fruits are round, smooth, dense, shiny. Unripe tomatoes are green, have a green spot at the stalk. When ripe, it is always bright red. The weight of each cherry tomato is 17-19 grams. The fruits have two nests.

Taste characteristics

Many people note the taste of salad tomatoes as excellent, dessert. Tomatoes are sweet, caramel, completely sour, fleshy. Suitable both for fresh consumption and for preparing blanks. Small tomatoes keep well and are ideal for freezing. Like most other varieties of cherry tomatoes, Terek contains an increased amount of nutrients such as lycopene and beta-carotene.

Ripening and fruiting

Hybrid Terek - early ripe tomato. Its ripening can be expected already 90-95 days after the start of germination.

Yield

Commodity indicators of yield in film greenhouse farms - 7.9 kg / sq. m. Therefore, the variety is considered high-yielding.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Planting seed material for growing seedlings is carried out in late February or early March.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Tomato seedlings are planted in a permanent place, keeping a distance of 35-40 cm between the plants. It is allowed to place no more than 2-3 Terek tomato bushes on the square.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

The hybrid variety Terek is intended for protected ground. Because of its tallness, plant bushes must be tied to a support or trellis. After the tomatoes are planted in the greenhouse, they are not watered for 10 days so that the bushes do not stretch out. But this is only if the weather is not hot.

Many combine the first irrigation with tomato feeding. When the weather is unstable, "Epin" is used, which helps plants to resist stress. Before the flowering of the culture, a second feeding is carried out. A good option would be a folk remedy based on live yeast.

For the third feeding, “Zdraven for Tomatoes” is recommended, but this remedy should be used at the moment when the fruits begin to set and grow.

Cherry tomatoes, in contrast to large-fruited tomatoes, are much more in need of good soil irrigation. Therefore, they should be watered a little more often. However, excess moisture can have a negative effect on the root system of a crop. To maintain a sufficient level of moisture in the soil, the plants are covered with a layer of mulch.

The described culture, like other green bushes, responds well to bright sun, abundant lighting. If cherry tomatoes are grown at home (on the windowsill), they should be placed near the most lighted windows. In winter, as well as in cloudy weather, the plants are supplemented with artificial lighting with UV lamps.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Terek cherry tomatoes are highly resistant to diseases such as cladosporia and tobacco mosaic virus (TMV).

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
