Breeding history

Tomato Shy Blush was bred in 2011 in California by breeder Fred Hemp. Culture is considered indeterminate. It can be grown both outdoors and indoors.

It is found under such names as:

  • Blush;

  • Blush;

  • Ruddy Tiger;

  • Blanche;

  • Blush;

  • Blush Tiger.

Description of the variety

The bushes are considered tall and reach a height of 200 cm. The stem is strong and strong, but a garter and pinching is required. Since the variety has unlimited growth power, it throws out stepchildren through each leaf. The top of the stem is pinched when the bush reaches the ceiling of the greenhouse or a month before the end of fruiting.

The bushes should be formed in 2-3 stems, then the yield will be high. At the same time, a lot of time will not be spent on processing the stems.

The leaves are small, standard-shaped, green in color, with slight pubescence on the plates.

The main qualities of the fruit

Tomato Bashful Blush belongs to the cherry category, so the size of the berry is small. The weight of the vegetable is only 30-40 g. The shape is plum-shaped. Sometimes the fruits are slightly elongated, and a spout forms at the top.

Since this is cherry, the fruits ripen in clusters, 6 pieces per cluster.

The color of tomatoes is yellow-orange, with pink longitudinal stripes. The more sunlight and heat, the more obvious the pink streaks will appear on the skin.

The pulp is sugary, juicy and of moderate density. Inside, two chambers are formed with medium-sized seeds. The seeds of this variety are not empty, so they can be harvested for further propagation of the culture.

Berries are very rich in vitamins A, B, E and K, therefore it is recommended to eat them fresh and use them for salads. Tomatoes are ideal for preparing hot meals, as well as for canning whole fruits.

Taste characteristics

There is a sweet and sour taste with an admixture of fruity notes. The fruit has a characteristic tomato flavor.

Ripening and fruiting

The tomato belongs to crops with an average ripening period. Fruiting is long-term, so the harvest takes place from late July to mid-August.

Yield

The harvest is removed with brushes. On average, 1-2 kg of fruits are harvested from one bush, 3-5 kg from 1 m2.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Tomato Shy blush is germinated by the seedling method, therefore, preliminary preparation of the seeds is necessary. The material is either purchased in the store, or independently harvested from last year's harvest. In both cases, the seeds are processed in aloe or a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

After that, the planting material is wiped dry with a napkin. Some gardeners soak the seeds in a cotton ball and store them in a dark and warm place until they hatch. And only after that they sow in seedling boxes. This is optional, everyone chooses a more convenient method.

The soil is poured into the seedling boxes with neutral or slightly acidic, mixed with sand. The earth is fed and moistened. Then holes are made, and seeds are dropped into them in 1-2 pieces. Further, a small area is leveled and again watered with warm water. From above, everything is covered with a film or plastic bag. The optimum temperature for spitting seeds is + 25 °.

After 5-7 days, the seedlings will germinate, and the film is removed. The containers are placed on a windowsill or balcony. Seedlings are sprayed once a week, taking into account that the soil is already dry. This is necessary in order to avoid the formation of a black leg, which completely destroys the seedling.

It is necessary to dive a culture in the presence of several leaves and a strong stem. A little wood ash is poured into new seedling containers along with the earth. It will act as fertilizer.

In early May, the seedlings are transferred to a greenhouse or just outside for acclimatization. At this time, a plot for tomatoes is being prepared. It must be dug up and spilled with warm water.

Planting of seedlings is carried out in the evening or early in the morning. The main thing is that the sun is not in the active phase. After that, each bush is spilled with 1-2 buckets of settled water. The next watering is carried out only after a week.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Tomato bushes Shy blush are very large. Although they are tied to pegs or trellises, it is still necessary to leave enough space for the crown. Therefore, many gardeners recommend planting two or three bushes per 1 m2. This is necessary so that the branches do not interfere with each other, and there is an optimal distance between the plants in order to process them.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

For a good harvest, some points should be observed in caring for the crop:

  • watering mode;

  • pinching and forming;

  • top dressing;

  • loosening of the earth and timely removal of weeds.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic.Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
