Despite its relatively short existence on the market, Stolypin's tomato has become incredibly popular among summer residents. Tomato lovers note the wonderful taste and marketability of the fruits of this variety. Therefore, its popularity is fully justified.

Breeding history

Stolypin is the result of a selection made by employees of the domestic company "Aelita". This is the fruit of the joint work of N.V. Nastenko, V.G. Kachainik and M.N. Gulkin. Since 2012, a tomato variety of determinant type of growth has been included in the State Register of the Russian Federation.

Description of the variety

Plant growth is limited in height. It grows to a maximum of 60-100 cm. It is covered with dark green leaves, medium-sized leaves. The inflorescence of the plant is simple. The peduncle is articulated.

The main qualities of the fruit

In the immature stage, Stolypin's harvest is light green, without spots in the area of the stalk. When ripe, the tomatoes are red. Inside is dense pulp and 2-3 nests. The mass of one fruit is from 90 to 120 g. In shape, the fruits are elliptical, covered with a smooth and dense skin. Outwardly, tomatoes resemble plums.

Taste characteristics

The taste of ripe tomatoes is sweet. They are aromatic and high in sugar and vitamins.

Ripening and fruiting

Tomato Stolypin belongs to the herbaceous group and has a medium early ripening period. From the day of planting the planting material to the first harvest, 95-105 days pass. At the time of the ripening of the crop, brushes with 6-7 tomatoes are formed on one of the branches. Stolypin's bushes resemble a rounded ball. Harvesting takes place in July-August.

Yield

The variety is considered to be high yielding. In greenhouse conditions, it is possible to collect from 8.0 to 8.5 kg per square meter.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

A suitable period for sowing seeds for seedlings is from March 20 to April 10. Its landing in the ground is carried out in the time interval from May 15 to June 5.

The timing of planting is influenced by where the cultivation of Stolypin tomatoes is planned. In any case, the seedlings are sown 55-60 days before the expected transfer to unprotected soil.

  • Recommended growing times in the south of the Russian Federation

If tomatoes are grown in open space, usually a transplant to the garden is scheduled for the second decade of May. Based on this, in the first two weeks of March, you can start growing seedlings.

Stolypin's seeds are sown in open ground in early May, if necessary, protecting the seedlings with a coating of insulating materials.

  • For cold regions

Transfer of seedlings to the greenhouse is carried out when the air heats up to +12 degrees. At the same time, the time for sowing planting material is also shifted - the manufacturer recommends doing this in the last days of March.

To get a tomato crop in unprotected soil, you need to plant seedlings at the end of June, and seeds in the second decade of April.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The seed manufacturer recommended planting in a two-line ribbon pattern. According to her, on a meter-long bed, planting is arranged in two rows, maintaining a distance between the bushes of 40 cm, leaving at least 50 cm in the aisles. Before planting, it is necessary to install supports for tying tomato bushes. These can be trellises or crossbars with cords.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

To grow the Stolypin variety, knowledge of complex agricultural techniques is not required. Tomatoes can be grown outdoors and under plastic or polycarbonate cover in different regions.

In the south, it is permissible to grow directly by seeds in unprotected soil.

It is recommended to buy seeds from the manufacturer, but it is allowed to use seeds harvested independently from tomatoes of the previous harvest.

When growing a vegetable crop, close attention must be paid to irrigation. This is due to the fact that Stolypin tomatoes are unstable to top rot, which often develops in the heat when the soil dries up.

Immediately after planting in the garden, Stolypin's bushes need generous watering at the rate of 5 to 7 liters for each bush. Further, you can do without soil moisture for two whole weeks in order for the root system to develop better. The next irrigation, especially when the fruits are formed, should be done regularly, with a break of 5-10 days, taking into account the weather and humidity.

To reduce labor intensity, gardeners often lean towards a drip irrigation system, they also use oozing hoses. This is an important point of the care scheme, because when the soil dries out 3-5 cm in depth, the plant may die. To prevent moisture loss, the beds are mulched with straw or other suitable material.

Early maturing varieties usually do not need additional fertilization. Due to the short period of fruiting, the plants have enough nutrition from the soil, those substances that were laid in it even at the preparatory stage. Do not overdo it with nitrogen fertilizing, since oversaturation of the soil with this element can lead to the appearance of apical rot.

After watering, it is shown to pour wood ash powder under the bushes and aisles, which is a supplier of potassium and phosphorus, and also prevents the appearance of fungus. The bushes are also a good idea to feed with potassium sulfate.

Potash fertilizers are shown to Stolypin bushes and in the phase of laying and ripening tomatoes.

For abundant yields, it is recommended to form bushes into 3 stems. To do this, you need to leave the stepson growing in the axil of the leaf, placed immediately in front of the first brush.

The second stepson is left in the bosom of any of the lower leaves. The remaining stepsons must be removed when they appear, observing the interval between the procedure for no longer than a week.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Plants of this species have a high level of cold resistance. Light frosts are not reflected on them. The fruits are capable of producing ovaries even during the cold season and during the rainy season.

Review overview

Stolypin tomatoes fell in love with summer residents for slow growth and high yield.

Attractive storage performance and similar portability.

The tomatoes taste excellent, so they are often added to salads and consumed fresh. Due to their small size and resistance to cracking, these tomatoes are used in whole-fruit canning.

Stolypin tomato bushes are compact and not too spreading. This advantage is especially appreciated by gardeners, because a large space is not required for planting, which is optimal for small plots of land.

Stolypin is a selection variety of tomatoes, so you can collect planting material with your own hands, and not buy ready-made seeds annually.

Agrarians are not bothered by caring for Stolypin tomatoes. Those who have been working with vegetables for several years claim that there are no specific norms in the process of cultivating them. At the same time, you do not need to spend energy on removing stepchildren and shaping the bushes. Anyone can successfully manage the cultivation, since the planting care procedures are simple and not burdensome.
