Hybrid tomato variety Soyuz 8 was bred in the 90s of the twentieth century. High yields were the order of the day, and he succeeded in that. In addition, tomatoes are distinguished by tasty fruits, amicable fruiting, excellent presentation.

Breeding history

The author and originator of the hybrid is a well-known breeder from Rostov-on-Don Mashtakov Aleksey Alekseevich. The application for admission to use was filed in 1993, the applicant was the Transnistrian Research Institute of Agriculture. After the tests carried out, the hybrid of the first generation Soyuz 8 was included in the lists of the State Register for the Russian Federation and recommended for commercial production in 1996.

Description of the variety

The tomato hybrid is a non-standard plant. The bush is characterized by a determinant type of growth, reaching from 70 to 100 centimeters. The plant is highly branched, the foliage is medium. The foliage is ordinary, medium-sized, the color of the leaves is dark green, they are medium-fragrant, there are stipules. Inflorescences can be simple, as well as intermediate. The first brush appears above 6-7 leaves, further ones are formed every 1-2 leaves. Articulated tomatoes.

The main qualities of the fruit

Hybrid tomato Soyuz 8 has a flat-round shape. The skin is smooth, colored bright red. Each fruit has 4-5 nests. The weight of tomatoes is from 70 to 100 g.

Taste characteristics

The taste qualities of the ripe fruits of Soyuz 8 are assessed as good, even excellent. The composition of the product:

  • dry matter - 4.3-4.9%;
  • total sugar - 2.0-2.8%;
  • ascorbic acid - 11.8-17.8 mg per 100 grams of raw material;
  • acidity - 0.43-0.55%.

Useful tomatoes of the described hybrid variety are recommended to be consumed fresh.

Ripening and fruiting

Soyuz 8 is an early ripe tomato hybrid. Fruiting of the culture begins 102-117 days after seed germination.

Yield

The yield of the hybrid is quite high, on average it is 9-11 kg / m2.

If we take into account industrial cultivation, then in different regions the indicators will differ. In the North Caucasus, harvests of marketable fruits were registered in the range of 376-803 c / ha, in the Stavropol Territory, the maximum yield was collected in the amount of 840 c / ha. On the Lower Volga - 500-1094 c / ha, while the maximum was shown in the Astrakhan region - 1094 c / ha.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing seeds of the Soyuz 8 hybrid for the purpose of growing seedlings is carried out in March, in advance, that is, 45-55 days before planting in the ground. As for the transfer of seedlings to the growing site, for the greenhouse this happens in May, for open beds in June.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is recommended to place the culture, taking into account a certain planting density per 1 m2. It is necessary to plant no more than 4-5 plants in such an area. The optimal layout is 40x60 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

In order for the yield of the described hybrid variety to be high, the bushes must be formed. On the open ground, leave 1-2 stems, indoors - 2-3. And also when growing a crop, simple care measures will be needed, such as regular watering with settled cold water, loosening, weeding, feeding with organic matter and mineral fertilizers.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Tomato Soyuz 8 has a high immunity characteristic of other hybrids, developed at the genetic level. So, it is distinguished by medium resistance to late blight, as well as to the top rot of fruits, medium susceptible to macrosporiosis. Good immunity of the culture to Alternaria and TMV (Tobacco Mosaic Virus).

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Extreme weather conditions also do not have any strong influence on the development of the tomato, since Soyuz 8 is perfectly adapted to temperature fluctuations, cold snaps, and prolonged rains.
