For those who want not only to decorate the garden in the country house or in the greenhouse with unusual tomatoes, but also to collect rich harvests without spending much time on care, you should pay attention to the unpretentious mid-season variety Slasten.

Description of the variety

Sweetheart is a tall shrub of an indeterminate type, which can grow up to 180 cm in a greenhouse, and up to 100-110 cm in a garden bed. The plant has a moderate thickening of rich green foliage, medium branching, a developed root system and simple inflorescences. The first fruit cluster appears on 8-9 leaves. Up to 40 berries are tied in each brush.

During cultivation, tomato bushes need to be formed into 2-3 stems, regularly remove new stepchildren, and tie them to installed supports. Sometimes light thinning of the lower leaves of the bush is required so that dampness does not accumulate. This variety is universal, so tomatoes are eaten fresh, widely used in cooking, canned whole, pickled, frozen and processed.

The main qualities of the fruit

Slasten's tomatoes belong to the small-fruited category, gaining weight up to 30-35 grams. The largest fruits are formed on the lower fruit clusters. The shape of the berries is correct - round, sometimes flat-round, without any irregularities. When unripe, the berries have a juicy green color, and when ripe, they are covered with pink, yellow or deep red. The skin of the tomatoes is shiny, dense, but not at all tough. Vegetables are characterized by resistance to cracking, good transportability and long shelf life.

Taste characteristics

Mini tomato has excellent taste and marketability. The flesh of the berries is dense, fleshy, sugary and juicy with a few small seeds. The taste is dominated by pronounced sweetness, harmoniously combined with honey notes in the aroma.

Ripening and fruiting

Slasten's tomatoes are mid-season varieties. From germination of seedlings to ripening of berries in fruit clusters, 95-100 days pass. The ripening of the variety is extended. The active phase of fruiting occurs in July-August.

Yield

The yield indicators of the variety are excellent. Up to 2.5 kg of berries can be removed from 1 bush per season. When grown in a greenhouse, up to 10 kg of ripe tomatoes are obtained from 1 m2.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

It is convenient to grow a culture in a seedling way. You need to sow seeds 55-60 days before transplanting to a new place. As a rule, sowing is carried out in late March - early April. First, the seeds must be sorted out, disinfected and treated with a growth enhancer. Seed germination is observed for 7-8 days, but this requires a special room temperature regime (22-24 degrees) and constant lighting. Diving is carried out at the stage of appearance of 2-3 leaves on the bushes. 7-10 days before transplanting, the bushes need to be hardened, taking them out into the fresh air for 20-30 minutes.

Planting in a greenhouse is carried out at the stage of 5-7 bushes on a bush, a strengthened root system and 1 flower brush. The optimal period is the end of April - mid-May.Seedlings are planted on the bed in early June, when the soil and air are well warmed up.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Important for a vegetable is not only proper care, but also the density and planting pattern of seedlings, calculated individually for each nightshade crop. It is recommended to plant no more than 3 bushes per 1 m2, which will allow sufficient light / sun and air to enter the plant. The correct layout for landing is considered to be 30x50 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Slasten's tomatoes grow well and bear fruit even on poorly fertilized soils. The best crop area will be the one where carrots, radishes or cabbage used to grow. Tomatoes, for maximum yield, will require complex agricultural technology, consisting of regular watering, fertilizing, loosening and weeding the soil, forming and tying bushes, pinching and protecting against viruses.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Tomatoes are endowed with good immunity, therefore they rarely undergo brown spot, apical and root rot, verticillium and fusarium wilt. Resistance to late blight is due to early ripening of the fruit.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Due to its good stress resistance, the plant does not respond to temperature fluctuations, including cold snaps, prolonged drought and heat. When growing this variety, it is only necessary to control the level of humidity and drafts.
