Hybrid tomato varieties are very popular among gardeners and farmers due to their simplicity of care, stability of fruiting and high quality of fruits. One of the tastiest is the Dutch Sunrise hybrid, which grows well in open ground.

Breeding history

The early Sunrise tomato was bred by a group of Dutch breeders at Monsanto. The main task of the scientists was to create tomatoes that have a short growing season, while the yield indicators are excellent. Tomato was approved for use in 2007. The Central and Northern regions are considered recommended for cultivation of the nightshade crop. The most productive crop is growing in open ground. In greenhouses, the variety is planted only in cold areas.

Description of the variety

Vegetable culture Sunrise is a low-growing plant of the determinant type, reaching a height of 50-60 cm. The bushes are characterized by compactness, good foliage with green leaves, medium branching, developed root system and intermediate inflorescences. Up to 5 fruit clusters with 5-7 berries are formed on one bush. As soon as the last brush has formed, the growth of the bush stops.

When growing a plant, it is necessary to form bushes, which will increase productivity, as well as to remove rapidly emerging new stepchildren. In addition, despite their short stature, the bushes need a garter to small supports, otherwise the stems will sag and break under the weight of the tomatoes. The purpose of tomatoes is universal, so they are tasty and healthy fresh, pickled, canned or processed.

The main qualities of the fruit

Sunrise Tomatoes are representatives of large-fruited tomatoes. On average, the weight of the fruit is 161-180 grams. The shape of the berries is flat-round with visible ribbing. The color of the berries during the ripening process changes from light green to deep red. The color is uniform. The tomato skin is perfectly smooth, shiny, moderately firm, but not at all tough. It is the peel that prevents the appearance of cracks, and also ensures good transportability of the vegetable and long-term keeping quality. It is characteristic that berries of the same shape and size grow, which gives them a good presentation.

Taste characteristics

The flavoring qualities of the hybrid are quite pronounced. The taste of the vegetable is dominated by a pleasant sourness, complemented by light sweetness and a pleasant spicy aroma present in all tomato varieties. The pulp of the berries is fleshy, dense, juicy, without extra seeds and wateriness.

Ripening and fruiting

The nightshade variety belongs to the early ripening class of tomatoes. From full germination of seeds to ripe tomatoes on the branches, only 95-97 days pass. Vegetables ripen gradually. The period of maximum fruiting occurs in July-August. As practice shows, as well as the experience of gardeners, the early maturity of the variety allows you to fully harvest the crop in 10-15 days.

Yield

Sunrise Dutch tomatoes are famous for their bountiful harvests. Fulfilling all agrotechnical rules, about 4 kg of ripe berries can be removed from 1 m2 during the fruiting period. In greenhouse conditions, each bush is capable of producing 2-3 kg more tomatoes than in the garden.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out in March (55-60 days before the transfer of plants to a permanent place). The seed is carefully sorted in order to immediately select unsuitable seeds, and then immersed in the prepared soil to a depth of 1-1.5 cm. The greenhouse effect will help accelerate the emergence of sprouts, while polyethylene or glass is used. For healthy plant growth, it is necessary to observe temperature and light conditions.

At the stage when 3-4 real leaves appear on the bush, a dive should be carried out (seating in individual pots). 7-10 days before transplanting, the seedling bushes begin to harden, which will allow the plants to quickly and painlessly adapt to new growing conditions.

Transplanting to the beds is carried out at the end of May. If tomatoes are grown in greenhouses, then they need to be transplanted a week earlier. After transplanting seedlings, it is recommended to cover it with agrofibre or spunbond for the first time at night, which will protect the plant from sudden nighttime drops in temperature. Bushes that have 5-7 true leaves are considered ready for transplanting into open ground.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Density indicators, as well as the scheme according to which the bushes are located on the site, are very important, therefore it is recommended to observe them. Up to 3-4 bushes of seedlings can be planted per 1 m2, which will provide air and light access. The optimal scheme for landing is considered to be a 40x50 cm scheme.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Tomatoes should be grown on weed-free, loose, fertile and breathable soil. The site should be well lit by the sun, and also be protected from drafts. The best place is considered a place where zucchini, onions, legumes or greens previously grew. It is strictly forbidden to plant tomatoes in the place where eggplants or tomatoes used to grow.

To harvest, you need to provide the tomatoes with proper care, including watering with warm or settled water, applying mineral and organic fertilizers, loosening and weeding the soil, forming and tying bushes, regular pinching, prevention and protection from diseases and pests. In addition, in greenhouses, you need to control the humidity level with the help of ventilation.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to many characteristic tomato diseases - alternaria, fusarium wilting, verticillium, late blight. As a preventive measure and increase immunity, it is recommended to disinfect the soil before sowing seeds, loosen and mulch the soil in the beds, and spray with fungicides. Spraying with insecticides will provide protection against insect pests. Most commonly, tomatoes are attracted to the Colorado potato beetle, whitefly, and spider mites.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporiosis, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Vegetable crops have high resistance to stress. Development and fruiting are not affected by sudden temperature changes, prolonged heat and drought. In addition, the variety is resistant to shade and high humidity.

Growing regions

The Dutch hybrid grows productively in any climatic zones of Russia, the main thing is to correctly determine what is best for the plant - a greenhouse or open ground. Tomato is massively grown on the territory of Ukraine, since the climate of this country is maximally favorable for this type of tomato.
