Brown sugar is a group of so-called sugar tomatoes. And it certainly lives up to its name, because it has an amazingly sweet taste, the most delicate pulp, and most importantly, it is rich in vitamins and nutrients. Therefore, it will be of interest to absolutely everyone who looks after their health.

Breeding history

The authors of this amazing variety were experienced breeders from Agrofirma Sedek LLC Lukyanenko A. N., Dubinin S. V. and Dubinina I. N. The culture was included in the State Register and approved for use in 2009.

Description of the variety

A varietal tomato bush develops in an indeterminate type, tall, its height can be two meters, but sometimes in a greenhouse it reaches 2.5 meters. In open space, the plant is not so tall. The number of leaves on the stem is quite moderate, the leaves are medium in size, have a dark green tint. The ovaries are formed 3-5 per brush.

The main qualities of the fruit

Sugar brown fruits are either cube-shaped or flat-round. The mass of a tomato is 120-150 grams. Unripe tomatoes are dark green and turn brown when ripe, hence the name. The surface of tomatoes is even, they have a dense skin.

The advantages of the variety include a number of properties:

  • berries are not susceptible to cracking;
  • rich composition of valuable microelements;
  • excellent taste;
  • resistant to low temperatures;
  • good immunity to various diseases;
  • high yield.

Taste characteristics

Brown sugar tomatoes are classified as salad tomatoes. They are fleshy, sweet taste, few seeds in the pulp. But the main thing is the unique composition of the fruit, containing a storehouse of useful microelements, due to which tomatoes have high medicinal qualities. They are credited with amazing anti-cancer, anti-infarction and even anti-aging properties. Of course, the maximum benefit will come from eating fresh fruits. But they are also used in home cooking and for making medicinal juice.

Ripening and fruiting

Brown sugar belongs to medium late crops, that is, it ripens for a long time, from 115 to 120 days. However, it is distinguished by long-term fruiting, starting in July, you can feast on delicious and sweet fruits until September.

Yield

The variety also distinguished itself with a decent yield. You can regularly harvest 6-7 kg of ripe tomatoes from one square.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Seed material is planted in seedling containers between February and March.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Varietal tomato seedlings are arranged according to the 40x50 cm scheme. Experts recommend the planting density - 3 plants per 1 m2.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Tomato Brown sugar is cultivated both indoors and in open beds. For planting this variety, it is worth choosing an area illuminated by the sun's rays. Tomatoes prefer bright but diffused light.

For planting high-quality tomatoes, soil that is well moistened, mixed with organic substances, and also air-permeable is suitable. You cannot plant tomatoes in the place that was previously occupied by eggplants, where potatoes were grown, as well as any nightshade crops.

To get a decent harvest, the plant needs to be well watered. The procedure is carried out at the root, only in the evening, after sunset. A good option is drip irrigation, using a special system in the beds that produces optimal soil irrigation. Don't forget about weeding. The plant is fed with mineral fertilizers during the growing season no more than 2 times.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
