Tomato Pink Cheeks has recently appeared on the market, but has already gained popularity due to its stunning taste and large-fruited. Such characteristics surprise even sophisticated gardeners. Fleshy early ripening fruits are not only beautiful in appearance, but also grown without problems in different conditions.

Breeding history

The authors of the variety are breeders from Russia - Sysina E.A. and Potapov Yu.P. The tomato was approved for use in 2003. Pink cheeks are a mid-early variety. Today tomatoes are successfully grown in Ukraine, Russia and in the climatic conditions of sunny Moldova.

Description of the variety

The type of growth is determinant. The bush reaches a height of 150 cm if formed in greenhouse conditions, when the growing point is transferred to the lateral shoot. Thus, it is artificially possible to prolong the growth of the plant.

Light green leaves of medium size. The inflorescence is simple. Bookmark the first inflorescence above 8-9 leaves, and subsequent ones appear after 1-2 leaves. Basically, the brush is simple and loose, from 3 to 5 flat-round fruits grow on it. The variety is intended for cultivation in the open field or under a film, with or without a garter.

The main qualities of the fruit

At the time of immaturity, the fruit has a green skin color. There is a dark green spot at the peduncle. Upon reaching maturity, the fruit acquires a red color. The size of the tomatoes is considered large. The mass of one fruit is about 180-260 g. In shape, it is flat-round, slightly ribbed.

Under a dense and elastic skin, dense and juicy flesh. The skin is not tough, not prone to cracking. There are usually few seeds inside, they are located in 4 chambers.

Taste characteristics

The tomatoes of the described variety have attractive taste characteristics. These are juicy and unusually fragrant fruits. The acidity is absolutely not felt when tasting the pulp.

Ripening and fruiting

The ripening period for tomatoes of the Pink Cheeks variety is early. Fruits of a pinkish or more red hue appear on the plant 110-112 days after germination.

Yield

The yield level is high. Ripe tomatoes are harvested at the end of July - August. The weight of the harvested crop depends on the conditions in which the tomato of this variety grew. If the seedlings are planted in a greenhouse, then from one unit it will be possible to get up to 4 kg.

Productivity is achieved through indeterminate cultivation. The lateral shoot increases the growth of the tomato to the height of the trellis (up to 1.5 m).

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing time for seedlings is March 20 - April 10. The planting of seedlings in the ground begins in the period from May 15 to June 5.

It is recommended to transplant seedlings into open ground 60-70 days from the appearance of the first shoots.

When transplanting into greenhouse conditions, the transfer process can be carried out in early May. If the transplant is planned in open ground, it is worth waiting for the 20th of May until the threat of sudden frosts recedes. This is followed by a favorable period for a successful landing.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The planting scheme is as follows: 3-4 plants per sq. m plot. The density should not exceed 4-5 plants per sq. m.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Before planting, you need to process the seeds with potassium permanganate. Then it is important to rinse them under running water, and then sprinkle with earth. Such manipulations will temper plants, and in the future they will become more resistant to many diseases.

As soon as sprouts with two leaves hatch, a dive is performed.

It is not necessary to create a high degree of moisture, otherwise it is fraught with the appearance of dark rot on the seedlings.

If excessive stretching of the seedlings is noted, the root system is added as deep as possible during transplantation.

After the sprouts appear, transplantation into soil fertilized with coconut is required.

Containers with seedlings are left in a warm place until the roots grow.

It is recommended to carefully control watering. And in no case pour tomatoes.

Before transplanting into open ground, fertilizing with universal type fertilizers and special nitrogenous substances is shown every 3 weeks. It is forbidden to feed more often, as this will lead to blackening of annual plants in the future.

A week before the transfer of seedlings to open ground, young shoots are hardened on the veranda or balcony. This approach guarantees its survival in outdoor conditions.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The Pink Cheeks variety is resistant to late blight and most diseases. For prophylaxis against pests, an insecticidal preparation suitable for action should be used.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Seedlings of tomato varieties Pink cheeks are planted obliquely to protect the plants from frost and give them the opportunity to grow new roots.

In the cold season, the underground part of the stepchildren will continue to grow. Frozen tomato parts can be easily removed with a knife. After frost, the crop appears 8-12 days later.

In extreme heat, thermophilic tomatoes may not set, and sometimes they even shed the ovaries.

Review overview

Tomatoes keep their shape perfectly, which is convenient for transportation.

A medium-yielding variety is considered unprofitable for cultivation on an industrial scale. Agricultural machinery costs do not pay off.

Tomatoes on the garden plot are grown for fresh consumption or for the manufacture of a variety of combined preparations and tomato juices. Large fruits are salted in large containers. Banks for this purpose are not suitable containers.

If you carefully and properly care for the Pink Cheeks tomato variety, you can get a rich harvest of fruits of excellent quality and amazing taste.
