Variety Early 83 is considered a fruitful early variety. Resistant to major types of diseases. Has excellent taste. It is used fresh, for juices, canning. Suitable for cultivation in a summer cottage and for industrial cultivation.

Breeding history

Created by E.N. Karbinskaya, N.N. Zaginailo on the basis of the Moldovan research institute in 1983. Included in the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2015.

Description of the variety

Low-growing bushes reach 40-60 cm in height, the stem is medium-strong, medium-leafy. Leaves are medium bright green. The root system is strong and well branched. The type of growth of the bush is determinant. Suitable for open ground and film greenhouses, in open ground it reaches a height of 40 cm.

Forms inflorescences of an intermediate type, 2-3 brushes appear on the main stem, the rest are tied on stepsons. Excess lateral shoots must be removed by breaking out the lower stepchildren to the 1st flower brush, part of the foliage is also removed. The culture can be grown in a seedling and non-seedling way (only in regions with a warm climate). Reacts well to feeding and watering. It is a thermophilic variety.

The main qualities of the fruit

The shape of the fruit is round or slightly ribbed, flattened at the poles, weighing 85-100 g. The color is red. The pulp is juicy, the skin is smooth, not prone to cracking. There are few seed chambers. Well transported and stored. It is considered a low-calorie product.

Taste characteristics

Classic tomato flavor: sweet and sour, pleasant.

Ripening and fruiting

An early variety, after germination, the crop begins to ripen in 95-110 days. A characteristic difference is that tomatoes ripen with whole brushes. On each plant, 4-5 brushes are left, which appeared first, 6-8 fruits are formed on each.

Yield

Differs in early maturity. You can pick tomatoes in the southern regions already at the end of June, in the middle lane - in August. The yield is characterized as good and stable. On average, about 6 kg are removed from one plant.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Seeds are planted 50-60 days before the tomatoes are transferred to the garden: around mid-March - early April. Can be planted in greenhouses with special heating in February.

The seeds are placed in rows with an interval of 2 cm on a slightly compacted soil under a layer of peat mulch of 1 cm, they are irrigated with warm water from a spray bottle. The optimum temperature for seed germination is 23-25 degrees. They are transplanted into separate pots when 1-2 true leaves appear or into boxes with an interval of 10 cm. Watered with soft, slightly warm water. If the leaves begin to turn yellow, it is recommended to feed them with fertilizers that contain nitrogen: urea, ammonium nitrate, nettle infusion.

In a southern climate, seedlings are planted in early May, in the middle lane - at the end of the second decade of May, in the Urals - at the end of the first decade of June. You can plant it in the greenhouse a week earlier.

Before planting, the seedlings must be hardened: night temperatures are gradually reduced to 12-14 degrees. Two weeks before disembarkation, the boxes are taken out into the air, first for half an hour, gradually increasing the residence time to 1 day.

The culture is planted in the ground when the soil warms up to 10-15 degrees at a depth of 12 cm.To stimulate growth and the fastest rooting of young plants, the garden bed is treated with Biostim phytohormones. A handful of humus and wood ash, 1 tsp of superphosphate and 1 tsp of potassium sulfate are added to each hole. After disembarkation, they are protected from direct sunlight and sheltered in open beds from night cold snaps. Even a short drop in air temperature to 5 degrees is detrimental to tomato.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Place 4-5 bushes per 1 sq. meter, planted in a checkerboard pattern at a distance of 30x40 cm or 40x40 cm.Seedlings are planted, laid on their side, with the crown to the north, so the root system will begin to develop faster, and the plants will rise in a few days. The soil is poured to the place where the lower leaves are located on the stem.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

The variety requires almost no maintenance, does not tolerate waterlogging of the air and soil. In temperate and cold climates, it is recommended to grow in high warm beds, consisting of several layers of earth and organic mixtures. Watered with warm, settled water in the morning or evening. Each bush takes about 2 liters of water. You can organize drip irrigation. The soil must be loosened after watering, weeds must be removed, it is imperative to huddle. Sawdust, humus, dry leaves are used as mulch.

They are fed about 3 times during the growing season. Apply nitrogen fertilizing with care, do it when planting or in the first feeding. The first time they are fed with organic fertilizers 2 weeks after planting. Then two more times: during the flowering period and the formation of ovaries - with complex mineral fertilizers for tomatoes. With a lack of nutrients, the leaves can begin to wilt.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety usually ends fruiting before late blight and other fungal diseases occur. Shows good immunity to tobacco mosaic virus, phomosis, decay. It is attacked by bears and whiteflies, prophylactic spraying is recommended to protect against other insects, you can plant parsley or marigolds nearby.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporiosis, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

In adverse weather conditions, fruits are tied even without shelter. Low temperatures, irregular watering and lack of lighting can stunt plant growth and delay fruiting.

Growing regions

In the southern regions of Russia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, in the North Caucasus, the culture is planted in open ground. In the middle lane, in the Urals and in other regions with a temperate climate, it is recommended to grow in greenhouses or in greenhouses.

Review overview

For some summer residents, this is a pleasant-tasting early-ripening variety that requires almost no pruning and is resistant to diseases, others do not like tomatoes that are too watery in consistency, a spreading crown and poor fruiting.

In the warm climate of the south, it gives a good harvest, the fruits are set even in abnormal heat. Gardeners note that compared to other varieties, this was a pleasant surprise.

In cold regions, in particular, in the Omsk region, without shelter, the tomato did not show itself as early, and the harvest was small. Given these reviews, we can draw the following conclusion: Early 83 tolerates heat better than cold snaps; in cold areas on open beds, its positive qualities may not show.
