Tomato Orange Heart is appreciated by both summer residents and professional agronomists. The unusual shape and color of the fruit attracts attention, and for its taste, this variety is classified by tasters as a delicacy. The tomato is perfectly stored, does not lose its properties during transportation, among gardeners it is also known under the unofficial name Liskin nose.

Breeding history

The variety was developed by the specialists of Agrofirma Poisk LLC. Tested and approved for use in 2007. Included in the State Register of the Russian Federation.

Description of the variety

The large bushes of this indeterminate variety look strong and vigorous. In the open field, they grow up to 120-150 cm. In the greenhouse, the plants stretch even more. The deciduous cover is abundant, dark green. The shape is typical for tomatoes.

Fruit-bearing clusters are formed on the bush in the amount of 6-8 pieces. Each inflorescence has up to 6 ovaries.

The main qualities of the fruit

The fruits of the Orange Heart variety are quite large, weighing 120-125 g. It has a strong skin and medium density pulp. Ripe tomatoes are heart-shaped, orange, with slight ribbing. The flesh is golden-red, with few seeds.

Taste characteristics

In the Orange Heart variety, the fruits have not only an unusual appearance. Their taste is also original, it is sweet, fresh and juicy. The pulp contains a large amount of sugar.

Ripening and fruiting

In terms of ripening, the variety is classified as mid-season. Harvesting takes place in July-August. Ripening takes 115-120 days.

Yield

This tomato is considered to be high yielding. Average harvesting rates reach 6.2 kg / sq. m. Tomatoes are highly marketable, practically no marriage occurs.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Tomato Orange Heart can be sown from 1 to 15 March. In this case, the plants will have enough time to grow and develop before the onset of warm days. Seeds may require additional lighting. The seedlings are transferred to the ground from May 15 to June 5. The exact time depends on the time of emergence of seedlings, as well as on the climatic features of the region, on average, they adhere to a period of 55-60 days.

In the northern regions, sowing of seeds can be carried out by the end of March. In the south - from the 3rd decade of February. Self-collected seeds must be pre-disinfected. It will be enough to withstand the planting material in a potassium permanganate solution for about 30 minutes. She also treats containers intended for sowing tomatoes.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The best option would be to maintain a distance of 60 × 50 cm between individual tomato bushes. In this case, they can be planted up to 3 pieces per 1 m2.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

Tall bushes are formed into 1-2 stems, they must be tied up and subjected to pinching. Seedlings are first grown in a common container, then dived into individual containers. Until the emergence of shoots, the container is kept under the film, regularly moistening the soil with a spray bottle. Tomatoes will be ready for picking in separate containers after 2 permanent leaves appear. After transplanting, they are not watered for 7 days, then with the same interval they are fed with vermicompost or liquid complex fertilizer.

The transfer of seedlings to a permanent place - to a greenhouse or to the ground is carried out after the end of the frost period. By this time, it is necessary to have time to prepare the ridge. The best place is sunny, sheltered from strong winds. Good predecessors for Orange Heart tomatoes are considered to be root crops - from parsnips to carrots.

When digging, compost (a bucket per 1 m2), superphosphate and wood ash must be added to the site of the future planting when digging. The seedling holes are made not very deep, about 30 cm. The roots are placed in them along with peat or other substrate from the container. Then the hole is sprinkled with soil, watered, the area at the base of the bush is mulched with natural materials.

The follow-up care for Orange Heart tomatoes is quite simple. Every 3-4 days, the bushes are watered, adding up to 10 liters of water under each. Pinching is carried out three times a month with an interval of 10 days. All unnecessary shoots are cut off under the flower and fruit clusters. If the spreading tops are too thick, they are also thinned out, but with less frequency.

The feeding schedule for this variety of tomatoes is built individually. Usually they are brought in at intervals of 14-30 days. Orange Heart responds well to natural fertilizers - a source of nitrogen and other nutrients. You can use mullein diluted in water in a ratio of 1: 10, nettle infusion, yeast solution. Of the chemicals, nitrate is used, granular formulations with potassium and phosphorus, which are necessary at the stage of fruit ripening.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is highly resistant to tobacco mosaic virus, Alternaria and Cladosporiosis. Requires protection against late blight, under unfavorable conditions it can be affected by this disease.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

The Orange Heart variety is successfully grown in the open field not only in the southern regions of the Russian Federation, but also in the Central regions and in the Black Earth Region. To the north, it is planted exclusively under a film shelter or in capital glass, polycarbonate greenhouses.

Review overview

According to summer residents, Orange Heart is one of the best varieties of tomatoes for greenhouse cultivation. In this case, tomatoes on the bushes ripen completely, retain their caliber and beautiful appearance. Seed germination is assessed by buyers as excellent, and the yield is even higher than stated by the originator. Plants are strong and vigorous, do not bend under the weight of the fruit. Light frosts are tolerated even in the open field.

Vegetable growers do not find any obvious shortcomings in these tomatoes. Only a small thickness of the skin is indicated; when the fruit is overripe, it is easily damaged. The unusual sweet taste also makes the fruit suitable only for salads and for preparations. Canned, pickled or pickled, these tomatoes, according to the owners, are very good.
