Growing standard and familiar tomatoes in the garden, every summer resident dreams of an exotic variety that will be tasty, fruitful and not capricious to care for. The early variety Nina, which is the most productive in the greenhouse, belongs to such species.

Breeding history

Dessert tomato Nina was the result of the work of a group of domestic breeders, who were faced with the task of bringing out a fruitful type of tomato with an unusually beautiful shape and excellent taste. This variety was added to the ranks of the state register of breeding achievements of the Russian Federation in 2019. At this time, tomatoes were approved for use and recommended for cultivation in all climatic zones of the country.

Description of the variety

Nina tomatoes are tall plants of an indeterminate type, which stretch to a height of 160-190 cm. They are characterized by voluminous bushes with a strong central stem without an edge, medium thick green matte foliage, a powerful root system and a simple type of inflorescence. The fruit cluster is formed above the 9th leaf, where up to 3-5 weighty fruits are formed. It is the complex structure of the brush that allows the tomatoes to be held without crumbling. For the correct cultivation of a vegetable, it will be necessary to form bushes in 1 or 2 stems, a garter to supports or trellises and partial pinning.

The main qualities of the fruit

The giant tomato Nina is a vivid representative of large-fruited tomatoes. On average, the weight of the fruit is 340 g, but, as practice shows, tomatoes grow up to 400-500 grams. The vegetable has an unusual and very beautiful shape - a flat-round tomato with pronounced ribbing. When fully ripe, the tomato is bright red, sometimes crimson red. When unripe, the berries are green with a dark spot at the base. The peel of tomatoes is thin, but elastic, so they tolerate transportation well, do not crack, do not lose their presentation.

Tomato belongs to universal varieties, therefore it is ideal for fresh salads, canned, processing into pasta, dressing, lecho. The only thing that the variety is not suitable for is whole-fruit canning, since the dimensions do not allow it.

Taste characteristics

The excellent taste of Nina tomatoes will not leave indifferent even the most demanding and sophisticated gardener. Ripe vegetables are sweet, but slightly sour. The raspberry flesh of the fruit is fleshy, firm, moderately juicy and aromatic. When cut, the tomato has voids in the pulp. The vegetable has few seeds.

Ripening and fruiting

Tomato Nina is a representative of the early maturing class. From the moment the seeds germinate to the ripeness of the first berries on the bushes, a little more than 3 months pass - 100 days. Tomatoes ripen gradually, but rather quickly. The ripening phase is short. The most productive period is considered to be from the end of June to August.

Yield

This variety captivates summer residents not only with its attractive appearance, but also with high yield rates. Fulfilling the rules of agricultural technology, up to 17 kg of aromatic and tasty tomatoes can be removed from 1 m2 per season. In the greenhouse, the yield is slightly higher - 18-20 kg of berries per 1 m2.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The seed is bought or harvested independently, since Nina's nightshade is a variety, not a hybrid. Sowing seeds is carried out in the first half of March (60 days before transplanting). To speed up the germination of seeds, you need to ensure the greenhouse effect by covering the box with glass or plastic. Seed germination is observed on the 6-7th day. It is optimal for seedlings to grow comfortably at room temperature of 18-25 degrees and constant lighting (at least 14 hours a day). After the appearance of 2-3 true leaves on the bushes, you can dive (seating in separate containers). If the seeds were sown in peat pots, then you should not dive the bushes. 10-15 days before transplanting, plants should be lightly hardened, exposed to fresh air for a short time.

The bushes are transferred to the greenhouse in early May, and to the garden bed in the middle of the month. For this, there must be appropriate weather conditions: the air and soil are sufficiently warmed up, as well as stay behind the nighttime drops in temperature. In case of sharp drops in temperature, the plants can be covered with agrofibre at night.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

To grow delicious tomatoes, it is necessary not only to observe agricultural techniques, but also to take into account the density and planting pattern. Due to the fact that the variety loves a lot of light and air, it is not recommended to plant more than 3-4 bushes per 1 m2. The optimal layout for planting is 50x60 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Growing Nina tomatoes does not require special skills and financial costs, you just need to choose the right site and prepare the soil. Tomato prefers soil that is loose, breathable, moist, fertile, with neutral acidity. The soil retains moisture for as long as possible when it is periodically mulched with peat.

Comprehensive care of the culture consists of a number of activities: watering with warm water, applying mineral fertilizing twice a month, weeding and loosening the soil, forming bushes, garters at the stage of stretching up to 100 cm in height, removing stepchildren every 7-10 days, airing the greenhouse, and also virus prevention.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The plant has protection against a number of tomato diseases: top rot, tobacco mosaic virus, Alternaria. Spraying with special solutions will help to avoid the invasion of insects, which are rarely attracted by Nina's tomato bushes.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

An early type of tomato Nina is endowed with resistance to temperature fluctuations, short cold snaps, heat and short drought. Drafts, wind, prolonged absence of sun or light are considered dangerous for nightshade culture. In addition, excessive humidity can lead to the development of a number of tomato diseases.

Growing regions

Tomatoes grow in different regions: Central, Far Eastern, West Siberian, North, Ural, and Central Black Earth. In addition, tomatoes are massively grown by summer residents of Ukraine and Moldova.

Review overview

Despite the "youth" of this tomato variety, many gardeners and farmers noticed and fell in love with it. This is due to the numerous advantages of the tomato culture: regular and good yields, attractive presentation, excellent taste, simplicity of agricultural technology, as well as a universal purpose. Along with the listed advantages, it will be advisable to point out the existing disadvantages. These are the features of care (pinching, garter, formation) and the high growth of the plant.
