Choosing tomato varieties for growing in the garden, many summer residents and farmers prefer unpretentious early-ripening tomatoes that are productive both in the beds and under film shelters. One of these is the Marisha tomato, with light agricultural technology and excellent taste.

Breeding history

The early Marisha tomato is the result of the work of Russian breeders M.E. Egiyan and O.D. Goryainova. Bred the nightshade crop in 2002. Included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation and allowed for use in 2005. Recommended for growing vegetable crops in the Far East and North Caucasus regions. The tomato is productive both in open ground and under film shelters.

Description of the variety

Marisha is a short, determinate type of shrub. On average, the plant grows up to 40-50 cm in height. The bushes have medium thickening of green foliage, an erect central stem, moderate branching, a developed root and simple inflorescences. The first fruit cluster is formed above the 6-7 leaves. In each fruit cluster, 4-5 tomatoes are tied.

During cultivation, the bushes do not need to be formed, but experienced gardeners lead the plant in 2-3 stems, and there is no need for a garter, since the seedlings are undersized. Removal of stepchildren is very rare, because stepchildren grow back slowly.

The purpose of the variety is universal, so tomatoes are eaten fresh, pickled, fermented, processed into dressings and mashed potatoes, and can also be preserved. Tomatoes are ideal for whole fruit canning.

The main qualities of the fruit

Marisha is a medium-sized vegetable that gains weight in the range of 55-124 grams. The shape of the fruit is correct - rounded with a perfectly smooth surface. Ripe tomatoes are evenly covered with a rich red color. In the state of technical ripeness, the vegetables are light green in color without a noticeable spot at the stalk.

The skin of the berries is moderately dense, not hard, with a pronounced shine. A feature of tomatoes is their resistance to cracking, good transportability and long shelf life without loss of taste and marketability.

Taste characteristics

The tomato has excellent taste. The pulp is of medium density, fleshy, moderately juicy, with a small content of seeds. In the context, the pulp is tender, rich scarlet color. The taste of the vegetable is classic - sweet and sour, complemented by a bright spicy aroma.

Ripening and fruiting

Marisha tomatoes are early ripening. From the mass germination of seedlings to the appearance of ripe berries on the bushes, only 3 months pass - 80-90 days. This species is characterized by amicable ripening of fruits. Tomatoes can be tasted from mid-July. The phase of active fruiting occurs in July-August.

Yield

The yield of the variety is one of its advantages. With proper adherence to agrotechnical recommendations, up to 8 kg of fragrant tomatoes can be grown and harvested per 1 m2. On an industrial scale, the yield indicators are also pleasing: from 1 hectare you can harvest 272-299 centners of vegetables.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Tomatoes are grown through seedlings. Sowing seeds is carried out in March - from the second half of the month. For a greenhouse, you can sow seedlings in the first decade of April. It is recommended to sort the seed and disinfect it. Purchased soil is used. Seed germination occurs on the 5-7th day. Experts recommend providing seedlings with a greenhouse effect using glass or polyethylene.

As soon as 2-3 leaves appear on the bushes, then a dive can be carried out, which will help to strengthen the root system of the plants. After planting, moderate watering and feeding are mandatory.

At the age of 60-65 days, the bushes can be planted in the garden. As a rule, this occurs in the second half of May, when the soil and air are well warmed up.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

For seedlings, not only care is important, but also correct placement on the site. It is recommended to place no more than 7 bushes per 1 m2. The recommended scheme for planting is considered to be a 40x50 cm scheme.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Favorable for Marisha tomatoes is a loose, fertile, moisture-permeable and breathable soil with neutral acidity. The site should be well warmed up by the sun. The best will be the place where cucumbers, radishes, cabbage or zucchini previously grew. Caring for a vegetable crop consists of watering, fertilizing, weeding the beds, ventilating the greenhouse and preventing disease.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The plant has an average immunity, so do not forget about preventive spraying and treatments. Often, the tomato leaves phytophthora due to the early ripening of the fruit.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Despite the fact that Marisha tomato is thermophilic, it is resistant to many weather "surprises" - sudden temperature changes, short drought and heat, nighttime drops in temperature, as well as short shade. When growing a vegetable, it is recommended to control the humidity.
