Tomato Red slices - a tall mid-season variety for growing in film greenhouses. Has large ribbed fruits, excellent taste, used in salads, for stuffing and slicing, making juice.

Breeding history

The domestic variety was bred in 2018 with the participation of Center Ogorodnik and Agrofirma Poisk by breeders: A. N. Khovrin, V. V. Korchagin, S. V. Maksimov, T. A. Tereshonkova, T. A. Klimenko. Included in the State Register of the Russian Federation for growing in film greenhouses.

Description of the variety

Bushes are tall, more than 2 m, grown in greenhouses. It belongs to the indeterminate species, that is, it will grow as long as the environmental conditions and the space around it allow it. It has an intermediate type of inflorescence, the stalk has no joints. The number of nests is more than 6. The leaves are elongated green. It adapts well to low light, temperature changes, irregular watering.

The main qualities of the fruit

Pear-shaped, strongly ribbed, divided by folds into distinct lobes. The color of the unripe fruit is green with a small spot at the stalk. Ripe tomatoes of ruby-red color, weighing 120-250 g. In a cluster there are from 3 to 6 tomatoes. Often they have such deep folds that they reach the middle of the fetus. There are few seeds.

Taste characteristics

The pulp is juicy, fleshy, with a delicate sweetish taste, sometimes resembles butter in consistency, typically tomato, with a pronounced aroma. Rich in vitamins, trace elements and antioxidants.

Ripening and fruiting

A mid-season variety, from the first shoots to the beginning of ripening, it takes about 100-120 days.

Yield

Fruits ripen almost simultaneously and very quickly, they begin to ripen around the end of July - beginning of August. Up to 8 kg are removed from one square meter.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Planted for seedlings from mid-February to mid-March. Seed germination is high. Seedlings are grown with additional lighting, fed several times. In early May, they are planted in a greenhouse.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The variety has no growth restrictions, the brushes continue to be tied throughout the life of the tomato. The bushes grow in height uncontrollably, so the greenhouse should be at least 2 meters high. A staggered arrangement in two rows is most suitable, 60 cm is left between the plants, 70-80 cm between the rows. If you arrange a bed that can be approached from both sides, then a three-row planting is made.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

It is required to form a bush into one stem, removing side shoots, stepsons and lower leaves. Be sure to tie up with a wide and soft braid. Undemanding in care, but timely watering and standard feeding is recommended. After the formation of the ovaries, you can install a support for the plant, since the crop grows very heavy. In a warmed room, they can bear fruit until late autumn.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Resistant to mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, fusarium wilt.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

Recommended for growing in film greenhouses or under film shelters in summer cottages throughout Russia, including Siberia, the Far East, and the North Caucasus region.

Review reviews optional

Tomato Red Slices has received various reviews from gardeners. Some admire the rich harvest and the sweet tomato flavor that stands out in the salad. I really like the unpretentiousness of the culture in the care and the long shelf life of tomatoes. For others, the variety turned out to be a big disappointment - the fruits ripen and are very large up to 500 g, but the taste turned out to be fresh and very hard, there are many voids and little pulp inside - inedible, this is the result of our acquaintance.
