A vegetable crop with an unusual name, Hocus Pocus, was bred not so long ago. Representatives of the Aelita agricultural company applied for official registration of the variety in 2016. Currently, this variety has taken a worthy position among the wide variety of tomatoes. The fruits of this variety attract attention with their unusual texture and other features.

Description of the variety

Tomatoes are recommended to be eaten fresh to preserve vitamins and minerals. So you can enjoy the taste of the ripened vegetables as much as possible. Bushes with an indeterminate growth type are considered tall. Plants stretch more strongly in greenhouse conditions. Bushes are planted in film greenhouses or in open areas. They will also feel great in greenhouses.

Shoots are covered with pubescent leaves of medium length. The color is dark green, with a gray tint due to the dense cannon on the surface. The first brush is formed in the area of 6-7 leaves. Each of them can grow from 8 to 10 tomatoes at the same time. This variety has the ability to produce excellent fruit set despite the vagaries of bad weather. Inflorescences are complex.

The main qualities of the fruit

Tomatoes are light green in color, with a characteristic spot in the upper part (at the place where the stalk is attached) gradually change their color to a rich red. The color is evenly distributed along the entire length. The average fruit weight is about 100 grams. Sometimes it is possible to grow tomatoes up to 240 grams. To achieve such a weight, you must comply with all the conditions of agricultural technology.

The surface of the tomatoes is covered with ribs (medium-silvery structure). The shape is flat-round. Moderately dense skin is covered with small light hairs, which is why tomatoes resemble apricots or peaches. The pulp of ripe fruits is dense and juicy. Inside, from 4 to 6 seed chambers are formed with a moderate number of seeds.

Taste characteristics

Taste qualities of tomatoes at altitude. Thanks to their excellent gastronomic characteristics, they will be good both in salads and in hot dishes. Many housewives make delicious preparations for the winter from vegetables.

Ripening and fruiting

The Hocus Pocus variety is considered early. The bushes begin to bear fruit 100-105 days after the formation of the first shoots. Fruits are harvested from July to September, before the onset of cold weather.

Yield

High yield is another positive characteristic of the above-mentioned variety. From a square meter of a garden bed, 8 to 10 kilograms of vegetables are obtained.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

In the first half of March (from the first to the 15th), seeds are sown for seedlings. Young seedlings are planted from May 15 to June 5. The optimum age of seedlings before transplanting is 60-65 days. By this time, young bushes will be completely ready for transfer and will be able to quickly adapt to the garden. Growing seedlings is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. However, certain requirements and conditions must be followed.

The purchase of containers, soil, planting material and the necessary gardening equipment must be taken care of in advance. The seeds must be warmed up and treated with potassium permanganate for 20 minutes.Experienced growers advise placing the grains in a saline solution. All seeds that float to the surface are thrown away.

The soil chosen for germination must meet certain characteristics, such as fertility and lightness. The top layer of the earth is periodically loosened so that a coarse dry crust does not form on the surface. It is desirable to combine this process with watering. Moisten the earth with a spray gun so as not to erode the soil. Young seedlings are planted in a heated greenhouse or in a sufficiently heated soil.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

It is advisable to plant no more than three bushes on one square meter of the site. And you can also use the following landing pattern - 60x50 centimeters. Subject to this rule, tomatoes will fully develop and delight with a delicious harvest.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

It is advisable to irrigate the vegetable plantation only in the evening, after sunset. It is impossible to perform work during the hours of the active sun, otherwise the plants will suffer from burns. In cloudy weather, watering is carried out at any convenient time. In hot weather, moisture from the soil evaporates faster, and to preserve it, the soil is covered with mulch. It is advisable to use organics. Natural ingredients not only maintain the desired moisture level, but also nourish the soil during decomposition. Another function of mulch is to prevent weeds from filling up the area.

All tall bushes must be tied up. Shoots are fixed as they grow. They use soft ropes and pieces of fabric that will not harm even fragile branches. It is advisable to place supports on the site in advance. If you install them after transplanting tomatoes, you can harm the root system.

The next prerequisite for obtaining a rich harvest is the removal of stepchildren. In the process of cutting off the lateral processes, you need to leave a small stump so that the shoot does not start growing again. Work is carried out regularly as they appear.

The Focus Pokus variety is formed into one or two stems. Which of the options to choose, each gardener decides for himself. You can try both formats, and choose one that will produce improved fruiting. And also the formation will help to carefully examine the plants for the presence of symptoms of diseases.

Strong immunity protects plants from many common diseases and infections. Tomatoes are not afraid of late blight. Pests are also harmless to the variety due to drooping leaves and small villi on the surface. The velvety fluff repels many pests.

Regular feeding will have a positive effect on plant health, fruit size and taste. The Fokus Pokus variety prefers potash fertilizers. Organic and complex formulations are also used and show good results.

Do not forget about other conditions of agricultural technology:

  • clearing the site from weeds;

  • treatment with protective compounds as a prophylaxis of diseases;

  • loosening and watering as needed;

  • feeding at least three times per season;

  • a garter to the supports as the bushes grow.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
