Russian summer residents greatly appreciate non-capricious tomato varieties that can grow in a wide variety of areas. The Village Tomato is still little known, since it was entered into the register only in 2019. However, he has already managed to collect a lot of positive feedback.

Description of the variety

The Village hybrid belongs to varieties with a determinant type of growth. The originator of the variety is V.I. Blokin-Mechtalin. The variety is intended for growing under plastic. Quite high: about 1.5 m, but many have grown bushes up to 2 m. The width of the bushes with proper care will be 35 cm, there are a lot of green leaves, and they grow all over the stem.

Like other varieties, the Village has its own strengths and weaknesses. Here are some of the benefits:

  • getting very large fruits that will be good for making juice;
  • good taste;
  • the harvest ripens steadily, without delays;
  • berries are transported without problems.

Let's move on to the disadvantages:

  • the variety is not suitable for beginners, because it requires constant care;
  • it is necessary to control the condition of the soil: when the humidity rises, the fruits will crack;
  • whole-fruit canning is not possible due to the large size of the berries.

The main qualities of the fruit

Ripe Derevensky fruits have a classic red color. Very often the surface is covered with reddish stripes diverging in different directions. Tomatoes grow large: the average weight is 380 g, but in favorable years and under good conditions, tomatoes appear on the stems and 800-900 g each.

The pulp is similar in consistency to the pulp of a ripe persimmon, it is very dense. Tomatoes are flat-round in shape. There are few chambers with seeds in the fruits, this must be taken into account if you wish to propagate the variety yourself.

Taste characteristics

A feature of Derevensky tomatoes is the almost complete absence of sourness. Tomatoes contain a lot of sugar, so the taste is sweet. Thanks to him, the tomato is often used in winter harvesting.

Ripening and fruiting

Village ripens in 110 days. Harvesting from this mid-season variety can be expected by early or mid-July.

Yield

This variety gives a good harvest. Indicators - 17.8 kg per m2 of greenhouse soil. The bush will give about 6 kg of berries.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The Village variety assumes the compulsory cultivation of seedlings. It will need separate containers, mostly oblong containers. The container is disinfected with boiling water. Seeds are also prepared in advance by soaking in manganese or Fitosporin. Dry them before planting.

You can take the land from your own garden, but peat, humus or compost, ash are necessarily added there. The soil, if it is taken from the garden, is disinfected with manganese.

Sowing work is carried out in March, best of all closer to the middle. The earth is slightly sprayed with a spray bottle, grooves are made in it, where the grains are placed. At first, the seedlings are kept under glass, and the temperature in the room should not drop below 23 ° C. It is very important to keep the soil consistently moist.

With the appearance of seedlings, the glass is removed, the seedlings, if they were grown in a common container, are dived. Then you just have to wait for the moment you need to disembark. Tomatoes are brought to the greenhouse closer to mid-May. In the open field, tomatoes of the variety are almost never grown, because they die in the scorching rays.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Derevensky bushes are tall and not particularly compact, therefore, 1 sq. m it is better not to have more than 4 seedlings. The optimal choice is 3. The recommended pattern is 60x60 cm. You cannot leave less space, otherwise the tomatoes will cling to each other with leaves.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

The variety is not easy to grow, it should be taken into account when choosing it. You need to be especially careful with watering. Waterlogging will lead to the fact that the fruits will crack and become non-transportable. This is especially true of the time when tomatoes are actively forming.

Summer residents who have dealt with the variety recommend drip irrigation. So the likelihood that water gets on the leaves will be reduced to zero. If you want to water yourself, then you need to do this no more than once a week. In this case, it will be useful to mulch the bushes so that the moisture leaves more slowly. Peat, sawdust - all this can be used.

Derevensky tomatoes need frequent feeding. 14 days after planting, they must be fertilized with saltpeter. About 100 g of the product is taken per square meter. Further, it is recommended to use folk and organic dressings. Mullein solution and herbal infusions are also suitable. Phosphorus is given when the tomatoes begin to sing. After that, all feeding is stopped. There are some more tips for care:

  • the lowest leaves must be torn off so that they do not spread on the ground;
  • bushes are required to be tied to supports;
  • the plant must be constantly checked for the presence of stepchildren and cut off;
  • in order to prevent the appearance of late blight, preventive treatments are carried out with means with copper in the composition;
  • the greenhouse is open daily for air;
  • tomatoes are harvested as they ripen, otherwise the severity of the fruit will cause them to fall off.
Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding.This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The village one almost never suffers from apical fruit rot. The variety is tolerant to Alternaria and TMV. In order to prevent diseases, it is necessary to use clean inventory, to process the places where stepchildren are removed with special means. Will not interfere with Derevensky and preventive treatment with fungicides, which are sprayed on the ground. You can use "Ridomil Gold" or "Fitosporin".

Tomatoes of this variety, even in greenhouses, can attack aphids, whiteflies or spider mites. They try to remove small insects using folk methods: soap solution, dusting with ash, garlic infusion. Or they use insecticides, but only before the start of fruit formation.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

Rustic can grow in various regions of the country, but only if it is cultivated in a greenhouse. The tomato resists frost very poorly, it may die. Direct rays of the sun in conjunction with intense heat are no less dangerous for him. It is much easier to provide growth conditions in a greenhouse.

Review overview

On the Internet, you can find different reviews about the cultivation of Derevensky tomatoes. Some summer residents got large fruits with a sweet taste, the tomatoes did not hurt, the harvest was given on time. Others argue that the seedlings grow quickly, but do not take root well in a new place. The fruits of most of the gardeners were medium in size.

Summer residents from regions with a stable climate tried to grow the variety outdoors. And many have succeeded. For others, prolonged rains canceled out all efforts, since the crop was completely destroyed by late blight.
