The lettuce tomato variety Dar Zavolzhya was approved for use in 1992 and since that moment has gained particular popularity both among the owners of personal subsidiary farms and in large agricultural complexes. Its special value is attributed to its ability for a harmonious yield of the crop, good marketability and transportability. Collecting fruits does not require frequent visits to the greenhouse or site.

Description of the variety

The gift of the Trans-Volga region belongs to the universal varieties of tomatoes, focused on cultivation in the open field. Bushes are undersized, reaching no more than 50-70 cm in height. Shoots are covered with medium-sized light green leaves. The branchiness of the bush is low. The inflorescences are simple, they are laid starting from the area above the 6-7 leaves, then they alternate through 1 or 2.

The variety forms foliage according to the potato type. Blooms together, regardless of growing conditions. Planting in a greenhouse or without a shelter also does not affect fruit set.

The main qualities of the fruit

Ripe tomatoes of this variety are covered with a smooth orange-red skin. Large rounded fruits reach a weight of 75-102 g. The flesh under the skin is dense.

Taste characteristics

Fresh fruits of this tomato variety have good taste, which are not lost during canning. Moderate sweetness is combined here with the juiciness and light sourness of a ripe tomato. The fruits are widely used in the industrial production of canned food, in the manufacture of ketchups and sauces, fresh used in salads.

Ripening and fruiting

The mid-early variety ripens in 103-109 days. Harvesting dates vary from 1 to 30 August, depending on the region.

Yield

Up to 5 kg of tomatoes are obtained from the bush. With industrial cultivation, the yield is 308-472 c / ha.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The variety allows you to start sowing seeds from 10 to 20 March. They are transferred to open ground after about 55 days. In this case, the landing dates should be oriented to May 10-20.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The gift of the Volga region forms not too spreading bushes. Its planting density reaches 4-5 plants per 1 m2. The standard is the scheme with a distance of 60 × 40 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

The Dar Zavolzhya variety is suitable for growing both in the open field and in greenhouse conditions. It is recommended to put compost and wood ash in the holes (about 1 tbsp. L.). Further, the frequency of feeding varies from 14 to 30 days. It is better to alternate the introduction of organic and mineral substances, not forgetting the saturation of the soil with nitrogen.Plants need pinching as they develop. A garter is usually not required, but can be done with abundant fruiting to relieve stress on the bush.

In the southern regions of the Russian Federation, direct sowing in open ground is practiced. In colder climates, they are planted in a special soil substrate. It is recommended not to use a common container, but to immediately sow in individual containers. Until the emergence of seedlings, the plants are kept under a film, periodically watered. At this stage, it is important to maintain a humidity level of about 70-80% in the room at a temperature of +20 degrees.

Seedlings are watered with warm water, maintaining a moderate soil moisture. When compacting the soil in the root zone, loosening is performed. Seedlings are fertilized with special liquid solutions for tomatoes at intervals of 10-14 days. If in the future the plants are placed in the open field, from the beginning of May they gradually begin to harden.

After planting in a permanent place, the Dar Zavolzhie tomatoes require regular watering at intervals of 2-3 days. You can only use well water heated in the sun or settled tap water. Using agrofibre or mulch can help reduce the frequency of watering.

Fertilization is done regularly, but without the use of cow dung - it stimulates the growth of green mass too much. You can replace it with humus, using for each such feeding at least 1-2 kg of nutrient substrate in combination with 200 g of ash. Then, after 2 weeks, you can fertilize with a potassium-phosphorus complex. Superphosphate, urea are also suitable.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

This variety of tomatoes is resistant to Alternaria, it is tolerant to Septoria. In general, immunity is assessed as good, it is only important to pay attention to the prevention of late blight. The bushes are regularly examined, when the first signs of leaf browning appear, they are sprayed with the preparations Fitosporin, Fundazol. As a preventive measure, it is worth using regular airing of the greenhouse, refusal of excessive thickening of the plantings. To reduce the risk of fungal infections, mandatory decontamination of inoculum is also practiced.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

Breeders declare the variety as zoned for cultivation in the Central Black Earth Region, in the Far East, in the Lower Volga region and in the North Caucasus.

Review overview

According to gardeners, the Dar of the Volga region can be described as a variety that can easily endure any whims of the weather. The bushes are practically not affected by diseases, grow well in the sun and in moderate shade. The fruits are praised for their pleasant taste, keeping quality, and successful ripening even in the open field. It is noted that tomatoes do not crack, remaining suitable for canning or stuffing. Fruits give enough seeds for independent reproduction, signs of culture degeneration in such material do not appear.

The disadvantages of the variety are called the high need for fertilization. In addition, shoot growth slows down in cold weather, which can affect the speed of ovary formation.
