The Ladies Caprice tomato variety is interesting mainly for its shape: it resembles an elongated curly cream, forked on one side. But gardeners appreciate it not only for this.

Breeding history

This is a new generation tomato hybrid, a synonym for the name - Ladies' whim F1. The author of this culture was the breeder V.I.Blokin-Mechtalin, quite famous for his works. The variety is suitable for growing both in open areas and under cover. The hybrid was approved for use, and also included in the state register not so long ago - in 2019.

Description of the variety

Horticultural culture Ladies' whim is an indeterminate tomato. The plant is a liana-like two-meter bush. Most often it is formed into 2 stems. The leaves are medium in size and have a standard green color. The bush is distinguished by simple inflorescences, the stalk is articulated. The first inflorescence from the ground is laid over the 8th leaf, then after 2-3. On the brushes, an average of 7 two-chambered fruits of a rich red color are formed. The fruits are distinguished by good keeping quality, therefore, they are suitable for growing on farms.

The main qualities of the fruit

Ripe Tomatoes Ladies Caprice are red in color, cylindrical, slightly ribbed, and also not too heavy - about 110 grams. They can be well stored for 2-3 weeks, since the skin is dense, but not coarse.

Taste characteristics

Among tomatoes with a similar elongated shape, Ladies' Caprice is considered the leader in terms of its taste. The fruits can be enjoyed both in salads in summer and in winter, using them pickled, salted or dried. Fresh tomatoes have a pleasant aroma, sweetish taste, and almost seedless pulp. And it is also convenient to use them for stuffing.

Ripening and fruiting

Ladies' whim is considered an early ripening tomato. Fruits will be able to reach commercial maturity 95 or 100 days after transplanting.

Yield

The variety is fruitful. In greenhouses, it will be possible to collect 19.3 kg of tomatoes from one square.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Planting seedlings is carried out, as a rule, in February-March, depending on the growing region. At the same time, ready-made seedlings of the Lady's whim can be planted in open ground in April or May.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

To obtain a good yield and ease of processing plants, it is necessary to plant with a density of no more than 4 plants per square meter.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For sowing tomato seeds, Ladies' whim is not necessary to process, however, if they are still soaked for 12 hours in warm water, they will germinate sooner. Greenhouse seedlings ready for planting are quite sensitive to low temperatures. That is why, before planting seedlings in the ground, they must be pre-hardened, gradually accustoming them to environmental conditions. In good weather, the seedlings are transferred to the balcony or yard, first for a short time, then for a day. Watering is also gradually reduced. Dry the sprouts before planting. Seedlings that are hardened and ready to plant will have a dark green color and a fairly sturdy stem.

The variety is very picky about the soil. For planting, it is worth choosing a light permeable soil. Better if he is also fertile. If at the beginning of the growing season there is not a very large need for nutrients, then at the stage of fruiting it increases significantly. Tomatoes are also very fond of heat.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Hybrid culture Ladies' whim is immune to tomato mosaic, alternaria, bacteriosis, fusarium wilt, verticillosis.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

The tomato variety Ladies Caprice has been zoned for many territories. It is successfully grown in:

  • northern;

  • central areas;
  • Volga-Vyatka region;
