Along with red-fruited tomatoes, tomatoes with an exotic color are in high demand among summer residents and farmers. One of these is a mid-season variety with the unusual name Chukhloma - the most productive, growing in greenhouse conditions.

Breeding history

This type of tomato was developed by a group of scientists from the agricultural firm "Gavrish" (E. V. Amcheslavskaya, O. A. Volok, A. N. Nesterovich, S. F. Gavrish and V. V. Morev) in the 2000s. In 2004, the tomato was included in the register of approved for use. The most favorable regions for growing are Central, Volgo-Vyatka, Central Black Earth, North, North Caucasian and North-West. The variety is productive in greenhouse conditions, but in the garden the tomato can also grow and bear fruit. Tomato is grown in unprotected soil in the southern part of the country.

Description of the variety

Chukhloma is a tall plant of an indeterminate type. Under favorable conditions, the bush can grow up to 200 cm or more. The plant has weak foliage with dark green foliage, a strong central trunk with a dense edge, medium branching, a developed root and simple inflorescences. The first flower cluster appears above 10-11 leaves, where 12-15 fruits are formed. Fruit clusters are elongated and beautiful.

The cultivation of a nightshade crop includes the formation of 1 stem if the tomato grows in a greenhouse, and 2-3 trunks if the plant grows in open ground. In addition, there is a need to remove unnecessary stepsons, in a garter to powerful supports and pinching the top. Tomatoes have a universal purpose - they are eaten fresh, they are widely used in cooking, and can also be preserved whole-fruit.

The main qualities of the fruit

The Chukhloma tomato is a vivid representative of medium-sized nightshade crops. On average, the weight of a vegetable is 110-120 grams. The length of the fruit reaches 12-15 cm. The tomato is endowed with a cylindrical shape with a smooth surface. A ripe tomato is evenly covered with a bright orange color, and in a state of technical maturity - light green. The tomato peel is dense, glossy, but not tough. In addition, the vegetable is resistant to cracking, tolerates transportation well and is characterized by a long shelf life - up to 2-3 weeks.

Taste characteristics

The tomato tastes excellent. The pulp is firm, fleshy and juicy, with little seeds. The section does not show any voids in the pulp or white streaks. The vegetable has a balanced taste with a dessert aroma. Sweetness dominates the taste. Sourness can appear only if the culture grew in unfavorable conditions, where there is little heat and a lot of moisture. The pulp of vegetables is rich in vitamin A.

Ripening and fruiting

Chukhloma is a mid-season vegetable. Less than 4 months pass from the mass germination of seedlings to ripe berries on the branches - 111-118 days. Tomatoes are gradually baked on the brushes, so you can enjoy delicious and fresh tomatoes for a long time. The variety has an extended fruiting period. The fruits stick tightly and do not crumble even with absolute ripeness. The peak of fruiting begins in the last week of July and lasts until the beginning of autumn.

Yield

The yield of the variety is assessed as high, the main thing is to follow all the advice of agricultural technology.9.6 kg of delicious tomatoes can be grown and harvested per 1 m2 - this is declared by the manufacturer of the variety. In practice, the yield indicators are slightly higher - 5-6 kg of tomatoes from one bush.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Sowing of seedlings for growing seedlings is carried out in March. The seedlings are carefully sorted out, disinfected in a weak solution of potassium permanganate and treated with a growth stimulant, which contributes to the development and strengthening of the root system. Germination of shoots occurs on the 6-9th day. Farmers recommend covering the seedlings with glass or plastic to speed up mass germination. With the appearance of 2-3 true leaves, the bushes can be dived into individual cups. This is followed by fertilization. 10-14 days before transplanting plants to a new place, the hardening of seedlings begins, which will facilitate the process of adaptation of tomatoes to new growing conditions. The hardening time increases daily.

You can transplant seedlings into a greenhouse from late April to mid-May, and into open ground - at the end of spring. It is recommended to prepare the soil in advance.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

Considering not only agricultural technology, but also the density, and the ways of arranging the bushes on the site, you can grow tasty and healthy tomatoes without any skill. No more than 5 tomato kuts should be planted per 1 m2, which will provide plants with sufficient air and sun. Tomato bushes are planted according to the 40x60 cm scheme.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Tomatoes should be grown in loose, fertile and breathable soil. The site must be cleared of weeds and other debris. Tomatoes are thermophilic, so a lot of sunlight or light should fall on the site. It is not recommended to plant a crop in beds where peppers, eggplants or potatoes used to grow.

In addition to the correctly selected soil, do not forget about agricultural technology. Care consists of the following procedures: watering with warm water under the root, applying organic fertilizers (root dressing), loosening, weeding and mulching the soil, forming bushes, removing stepchildren, pinching the tops at the end of the season, garter to supports or trellises, as well as protection from viruses and insects. In greenhouses, regular ventilation is recommended to help control humidity levels.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The tomato is resistant to many diseases of nightshade crops - powdery mildew, cladosporium, tobacco mosaic virus, fusarium wilting. Often tomatoes go away from late blight, but preventive measures will not hurt. Treatment with preparations containing copper sulfate can protect against fungal diseases. Pest infestations can be prevented by applying timely insecticide sprays. Spraying can be carried out only until the formation of ovaries.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporiosis, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

The variety has excellent adaptability to different climatic conditions. Tomatoes are resistant to temperature fluctuations, short-term drought and heat. The only thing that the plant reacts poorly to is drafts and prolonged humidity, which causes fungal diseases.

Growing regions

The most favorable zone for growing Chukhloma tomatoes is the European part of Russia. Recently, the geography of crop cultivation has slightly expanded towards Ukraine and Moldova.

Review overview

This variety is massively grown by gardeners, farmers and farmers. This is due to the fact that tomatoes are endowed with simple agricultural techniques, not picky about the climate and soil, as well as excellent yield and high taste of fruits. In addition, tomatoes captivate with their beneficial pulp composition and attractive appearance. Of the shortcomings, one can point out the need for regular garter and pinching.
