Tomato Black Cat is a new variety that is gradually gaining popularity among gardeners. The fruits are famous for their unusual taste and color.

Breeding history

Breeding work began in 2018. The culture has not passed all the test work, and has not yet been entered in the State Register. But it is already actively spreading on the territory of Russia.

Tomato Black cat is an indeterminate hybrid, which was bred by the employees of the agricultural firm "Siberian Garden". The main task that the breeders set themselves was the development of a new variety with a dark color of fruits. They contain a high percentage of lycopene, which is good for the body.

It is stated that the culture can be grown in open and closed ground. At this stage of testing, good yield indicators were found in the south of the country, as well as in the regions of the Urals, Siberia, the Far East and the Central Black Earth Region.

Description of the variety

Bushes with unlimited growth force, stretch in height up to 1.6-1.8 m. The shoots of the variety are strong, powerful, resilient. In the stage of full maturation, they become slightly stiff. The crown is semi-spreading, the foliage is strong. Leaves of a standard shape, slightly oblong, have jagged edges along the edging.

When forming a bush, two shoots should be left: main and lateral. This will help to achieve a larger yield, and all the forces of the plant will be directed to the formation of new fruits. A side shoot is left in front of the first fertile branch.

Inflorescences are formed in internodes above 7-9 leaves, subsequent ones - after 3.

The main qualities of the fruit

The fruits are large, round in shape with a slight ribbing at the stalk. The weight of vegetables is up to 160 g. The color of a fully ripe fruit is dark brown.

The pulp is firm, firm and fleshy, dark cherry shade. Each berry has 2-3 small seed chambers with small empty seeds.

The rind is thin, firm, but not perceptible when eaten.

The fruits are well attached to the stalk and do not crumble even after full ripening. Tomatoes can be stored in a dark and cool room for up to 2-3 weeks without losing their elasticity and taste. And also the variety can be transported over long distances.

It is stated that the culture is suitable for making juices, sauces, lecho, pasta. The fruits can be canned and pickled.

Taste characteristics

Tomato Black cat has a pleasant taste with a little sugar content.

Ripening and fruiting

Sot belongs to the early maturing category. Harvesting falls on 85-90 days.

Yield

The producer indicates that the Black Cat tomato has a stable and good harvest. From one bush, you can collect 5 kg, and with proper care, 15-17 kg of berries are removed from 1 m2.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The hybrid is grown in a seedling way. It is worth considering that new seeds need to be purchased every year. It is impossible to collect the material with your own hands, since in the fruits the seeds are formed empty.

Seedling boxes should be wide, but only 10 cm high. It is better to choose the soil from a mixture of soil, peat, sand and fertilizers. The material deepens into the ground by 1-1.5 cm.Then everything is poured abundantly with water with growth stimulants, and the container is covered with cellophane.

Seeds grow within 5-7 days at a temperature of + 25 ° C. After that, the cellophane is removed, and the total room temperature should be + 18 ° C. This is necessary so that the roots begin to actively grow into the ground.

Watering of young seedlings is carried out together with fertilizers and using a spray bottle. The pick is carried out twice. The first, when the seedlings will have several strong leaves. The second pick is carried out in open ground at the age of 50-55 days. The seedling should have 4-6 leaves, and the stem height should be at least 20 cm.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The bushes are planted according to the 40x50 cm scheme, provided that there are 3-4 bushes per 1 m2. This is important because it is easier to handle the bushes and the harvest is faster.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Caring for a black cat tomato is simple, but some points should be observed.

  • Bush formation and pinching are carried out in a timely manner. The number of stems is 2 pieces, the rest of the side shoots are removed as unnecessary. Leaves break off only on the lower branches. If desired, the crown is also cut off.

  • Watering is carried out when the soil is completely dry. On average, one bush should have 5-7 liters. Moisture should penetrate 20 cm into the soil.

  • Loosening is carried out immediately after irrigation. The first top layer of soil is broken up and all weeds are removed. Such work can be omitted if everything is covered with mulch.

  • Top dressing is applied every 10-14 days. It is best to mix organics and minerals.

  • It is recommended to carry out preventive spraying several times a season to prevent the appearance of fungal diseases. And also every day the bush is inspected for the presence of pests.

  • The greenhouse should be ventilated. The optimum air temperature should not exceed + 30 ° С.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
