The Blagovest tomato has a number of attractive characteristics. It deserves attention no less than many other famous varieties. And therefore, gardeners will lose a lot if they do not get acquainted with such a plant.

Breeding history

Blagovest is one of the products of the famous breeding company "Gavrish". The breeders Morev, Amcheslavskaya and Gavrish were working on it. The permit for the cultivation of the hybrid garden was given in 1996.

Description of the variety

Evangelism is ranked among the determinant group of plants. The crop is ideal for growing in a film greenhouse. The height of the bushes can be 1.5-1.8 m. The variety is characterized by average branching and average foliage saturation. The gray-green leaves have a glossy sheen and are slightly corrugated.

The main qualities of the fruit

Unripe berries are distinguished by a greenish-whitish color. When they are ripe, they will take on a red tint. The mass of a single tomato is 100-110 g. For tomatoes, a flat-round shape and weak ribs are characteristic. The top of the fruit is smooth.

Berries develop on intermediate inflorescences. They have 2 or 3 nests. From 6 to 10 tomatoes are formed on one cluster. The first inflorescence develops over 6-7 leaves. The next inflorescences appear in 1-2 leaves.

Taste characteristics

The flesh of the Blagovest is dense. It is characterized by excellent juiciness. The taste of this tomato is sweetish. There is an additional sour taste.

Ripening and fruiting

Blagovest is a typical mid-early tomato. Between the formation of seedlings and the formation of ripe berries, it takes from 101 to 105 days.

Yield

The collection on one bush can be 5-5.5 kg of fruit. Therefore, the plant can be considered quite fruitful in its properties.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

Seeds should be placed in planting boxes at the end of February or at the very beginning of March. The holes in the ground should have a depth of about 1 cm. The planting material is laid in increments of 2 cm. You can wait for the emergence of seedlings in normal weather in 2-3 days, and if the cold comes, you will have to wait up to 7 days. Usually the date of planting in open land comes 60 days after sowing the seeds. It is important that the stems grow 20 cm in length, have at least 6 true leaves, and this is mainly achieved in late April or early May.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

The usual rule is the arrangement of tomatoes 400x600 mm. It is recommended to plant 3 bushes per 1 m2. A tighter fit is impractical and even harmful. The distance between any two plants on any axis should be at least 40-50 cm.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting.When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For the Blagovest tomato, systematic feeding is very important. Once every 15-20 days, complex mixtures for vegetables or specialized compositions for tomatoes are used. But when there are 14 days left for harvesting, feeding must be stopped. Since the plants are quite tall, a garter is indispensable. 1-stem formation is highly recommended.

This variety is almost always grown in greenhouses. Excessive humidity and high temperature are critical for it. Therefore, it is extremely important to ventilate greenhouses. In hot, cloudless weather, the outside of the shelter is covered with a white non-woven material. Outdoor cultivation is allowed only in the southern regions of Russia.

The tomato planted in the greenhouse must be watered and left for 6-7 days. Further watering is carried out regularly. It is better to do this not so much too often as abundantly. The plant reacts favorably to such a regime. Water, as for other tomatoes, should be taken only after a good warming up. Cold irrigation has a detrimental effect on the inflorescences.

If a steady sultry weather sets in, the doors and windows of the greenhouses are kept open at all times. An exception can be made only for relatively cool night hours. It is necessary to loosen the earth more often. Before each feeding, light watering is required. Further, the bushes will certainly be watered again so that even a small amount of fertilizer does not remain on them.

It is quite reasonable to combine soil loosening with weed removal. To reduce the frequency of watering, it is recommended to mulch the land. Nitrogen fertilizers should be used as carefully as possible and only in extremely limited quantities. Phosphorus-potassium mixtures are much better and more effective. Potassium sulfate is considered the most promising choice by many experts.

The utmost vigilance must be exercised when loosening. The roots of Blagovest are close to the ground. Stepping is needed a few days after disembarkation. Even an unripe crop can be harvested. Unripe fruits will ripen on the windowsills anyway.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The Blagovest variety is highly resistant to:

  • tobacco mosaic;

  • cladosporium disease;

  • fusarium wilting.

Prevention of pathologies and pest damage is still necessary. Proactive processing is essential. Curly foliage can be considered a critical sign. The drugs must be used strictly according to the instructions.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Growing regions

You can cultivate Blagovest in central Russia. This variety also gives good results in the Volgo-Vyatka region. Therefore, it is recommended for:

  • Moscow region;

  • Tula region;

  • Kaluga region;

  • Kirov, Nizhny Novgorod regions;

  • Mordovia and Chuvashia.

Review overview

Gardeners note that Blagovest:

  • it is distinguished, indeed, by good fertility;

  • perfect for tins;

  • gives a large number of more or less uniform fruits;

  • urgently needs careful, scrupulous care.
