The large-fruited variety of tomato, Dimensional, is not yet familiar to Russian summer residents, but those who managed to grow this vegetable crop in their garden speak positively of it. Tomatoes, unpretentious in care, will pleasantly surprise you with a stable harvest.

Description of the variety

Growth type is determinant. The versatile variety is intended for cultivation in open or closed ground, including greenhouses and greenhouses of various types.

Ripe tomatoes are used in the following varieties:

  • fresh consumption;

  • preparation of juices, tomato paste and ketchup;

  • for different dishes (salads, cold snacks).

The bushes are not very tall. Medium-sized tomatoes reach a height of one to 1.2 meters. In greenhouse conditions, they can grow up to one and a half meters. Plants are quite powerful, they suspend their growth in the process of forming a large volume of fruits. The leaves have a standard shape, the color is emerald green. The inflorescences are simple; during flowering, the bushes are covered with large yellow flowers. The first fruit cluster is formed after 8 or 9 leaves. The rest are located at a distance of 1-2 sheets.

The main qualities of the fruit

Green tomatoes, in the process of ripening, acquire a bright red hue. The sizes are marked as very large. Almost every specimen gains weight from one to one and a half kilograms. Due to this feature, the variety got its name. The shape of the vegetables is cylindrical, slightly elongated. The density of the pulp is medium. Ripe tomatoes are stored for a maximum of 3 weeks in the refrigerator.

Experienced summer residents note that the fruits often become uneven. Some gain one kilogram in weight, others - 300 or 400 grams. And also there are rounded and slightly flat specimens, with noticeable ribbing.

Tomatoes are covered with a dense and elastic skin, with a characteristic shine. When cross-sectioned, 4 to 6 seed chambers can be seen, but few seeds.

Taste characteristics

Eating fresh tomatoes leaves a pleasant sweet aftertaste. The taste is traditional, with a slight sourness. The aroma is pleasant and appetizing. The majority speaks positively about the taste of this variety. Use vegetables for salads, juices and cold snacks. Because of the sweetish aftertaste, some housewives make jam from tomatoes. Fruits of the Bezrazmerny variety are not recommended for preserving for the winter or adjika.

Ripening and fruiting

Fruiting is extended, and the timing is mid-season. Much depends on the region of cultivation and conditions (greenhouse or open ground).

Yield

The variety is high-yielding. From 6 to 7.5 kilograms of large vegetables can be harvested from one bush. Up to 20 kilograms are obtained from one square meter of plantings. The harvested fruits tolerate transportation without any problems. The volume of the crop is influenced by many factors, including the frequency of irrigation, since the crop needs a lot of water.

And also fertilizing affects fruiting. They need to be applied regularly to increase productivity. Another important condition is compliance with the correct temperature regime.Sunlight has practically no effect on the volume of the harvested crop, only on the taste of the fruit.

In areas with a warm and comfortable climate, the bushes begin to bear fruit earlier. The first fruits can be obtained at the end of June. The last wave falls at the end of September.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

The seed of the Bezrazmeny variety can be used both for germinating seedlings and for sowing directly into open ground. The second option is less preferable, since tomatoes may simply not have time to ripen before the end of the warm season. In most regions, the seedling method is used. Seeds are sown in containers in the second half of March. It is advisable to disinfect the used material with a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

To begin with, use large and shallow containers, which are filled with a substrate by two-thirds. If the soil mixture is prepared at home, it is disinfected. Seeds are neatly deepened into moist soil. To make them germinate faster, the container is covered with foil or glass. The containers are ventilated every day, removing the covering material.

After the appearance of the first shoots, the shelter is completely removed. The appearance of 2-3 leaves indicates that it is time to distribute the seedlings in separate containers. Water the seedlings under the root when the top layer of the soil dries out. Excess moisture can cause mold and mildew to grow.

At the end of spring or early summer, the seedlings are transplanted into open ground. 2-3 weeks before transplanting, the plants are hardened, leaving the container with young bushes in the fresh air. This is how they adapt to new temperature conditions.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener will be able to harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

A suitable scheme for growing vegetables is 75x35 centimeters, which means 3-4 bushes per square meter.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

Formation and pinching are important components of agricultural technology. Despite the low grade, the bushes are tied up. Bushes form 1-2 stems. Immediately after planting the seedlings, they are watered, and the soil is covered with a layer of mulch made of humus or sawdust. Weeds are regularly removed, and the topsoil is loosened. In order not to spend a lot of time on molding, you need to periodically open the lower leaves and stepsons. Bushes are tied up when the first harvest appears. And also the branches will not break under the weight of vegetables. Irrigation is performed when a dry crust appears. Make sure that the ground is not waterlogged.

Given the large size of tomatoes, the variety needs a sufficient amount of dressing. Complex formulations are used after transplanting seedlings to a permanent planting site. After two weeks, organic compounds with a high nitrogen content are used. As soon as the bushes begin to bloom or bear fruit, mineral fertilizers are added to the ground. And also compositions with potassium and phosphorus are introduced into the soil with intensive crop formation.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
