The variety called Avatar has established itself on the positive side as a hybrid fruit crop with high yields. It is this characteristic that all gardeners must pay attention to when choosing a tomato and other vegetables. You can grow vegetables both outdoors and in greenhouses, enjoying fresh fruits almost all year round.

Description of the variety

The maximum plant height is 60 to 80 centimeters. These are powerful shrubs covered with green leaves with a yellow tint. The crop ripens on large stalks. The tomatoes are pressed tightly together.

The main qualities of the fruit

Ripe tomatoes turn bright red. The peduncle has no green spot. The fruit gains weight from 240 to 300 grams. Its dimensions are large. The shape of the tomatoes is round, slightly elongated. Outwardly, due to the spout, tomatoes are a bit like a heart. The skin is dense and smooth, with dense flesh hidden underneath. The first inflorescence is laid about 5-6 leaves.

Ripe harvest has good keeping quality. Ripe tomatoes are stored at room temperature for 12 to 14 days. To extend the shelf life, the tomato boxes must be moved to a location with low temperatures.

Taste characteristics

Avatar fruits are often eaten fresh. They are juicy, sweet, and meaty.

Ripening and fruiting

This species belongs to plants with an early ripening period (from 85 to 95 days). The avatar is considered a determinant variety.

Yield

To achieve high yields, it is enough to follow simple rules of agricultural technology. From one square meter, 13 to 15 kilograms of fruit are harvested (when grown in greenhouses). In the open field, they get about 8 kilograms. High-yielding tomatoes are highly transportable and are often grown for sale.

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

To grow seedlings on their own, sowing material is sown into light and fertile soil in early or mid-spring, about two months before transplanting into the ground. To protect the seeds, the soil used must be treated with a solution of potassium permanganate. A gap of 2 centimeters is left between the grooves, the embedding depth is one and a half centimeters.

Cover the seed with a layer of mulch or soil. A film is laid on top for a greenhouse effect. With its help, it will be possible to maintain the temperature at 22-25 degrees. The container with seeds is transferred to a lighted place, where the air temperature ranges from 15 to 18 degrees. As soon as 3 full-fledged leaves appear on the sprouts, picking and transplanting are carried out.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

As soon as the seedlings are ready (after 2 months), they are transplanted into a greenhouse or plot. Between the rows you need to make a gap of 70 centimeters, and between the bushes - 40 centimeters.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and caring

As already noted, the hybrid Avatar variety is grown both in film greenhouses and in open areas. In order for the bushes to please with a stable and high-quality harvest, tomatoes need to be fed and watered. Pinching is also carried out. The plant needs enough sunlight.

The plantation is fertilized 2 times a month. Forming takes place in 2-3 stems. During intensive growth, nitrogen formulations are used. As soon as the bushes begin to bloom, they switch to potassium salt. Branches are tied to supports. When forming plants in open ground, 1-2 stems are left, in greenhouses and hotbeds - 2-3.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

Experts managed to bring out a hybrid with a high rate of resistance to diseases and pests that can harm the plant and crop.

The Avatar variety is not afraid of the following ailments:

  • alternaria;
  • top rot;
  • tobacco mosaic virus;
  • cracking of the fruit.

The plant is resistant to the main ailments of the nightshade family. But even despite this characteristic, the fruit crop needs regular care, especially when grown in an unfavorable climate. In the presence of the first symptoms of diseases, the bushes should be treated with drugs.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.

Resistant to adverse weather conditions

An unpretentious plant even tolerates extreme heat without any problems.Even in the hot season, you can count on a rich harvest. Depleted soil will not affect the quality of the crop. Stress-resistant variety is perfect for beginner gardeners who do not yet have experience in growing fruit crops.

Review overview

Tomato Avatar is in great demand among both experienced and novice summer residents. You can find a lot of information about this variety on the thematic forums, including reviews. Most gardeners are happy with their choice. Tomatoes are not too whimsical to care for, they are resistant to diseases and adverse weather conditions. At the same time, the bushes regularly delight with tasty and bright fruits. Negative responses practically do not occur, however, the need to treat the bushes against late blight was noted as a disadvantage.
