If you want to plant a tomato variety on your own plot, which has a pleasant sweet taste, and does not require proper care, then the Amur tiger is just what you need.

Description of the variety

This variety is classified as indeterminate. This is a tall plant that can reach a height of 180-200 cm. The foliage is medium in size, dark green in color. The inflorescences on the bushes are intermediate. The first one appears between 8 and 9 sheets, all the others - every 1-2 sheets.

The main qualities of the fruit

The fruits can be eaten both fresh and for conservation. The fruits withstand transportation very well.

In an immature state, the color of the Amur tiger tomatoes will be green, with light stripes. When ripe, the color changes to red and the stripes turn yellow. All fruits are large, weighing from 150 to 200 grams, some can grow up to 400 grams. Tomatoes are flat-round in shape, with ribbing at the base. From 3 to 5 fruits are formed in the brush.

Taste characteristics

The pulp of the Amur Tiger tomatoes is juicy, fleshy, and the taste is sweet.

Ripening and fruiting

This mid-early variety ripens after planting on days 108-112. Fruiting for a long time, the harvest begins in July-August.

Yield

The Amur tiger is a high-yielding plant, its rate is 9-12 kg / m2 (in a greenhouse).

The timing of planting seedlings and planting in the ground

In mid-March, you can start sowing the Amur tiger for seedlings. Landing in the ground is carried out in early May. If the plant is planted in a greenhouse, then the seedlings are transferred in mid-May.

Growing tomato seedlings is an extremely important process, because it largely depends on whether the gardener can harvest at all. All aspects must be taken into account, from seedbed preparation to planting in the ground.

Landing scheme

4-5 plants are planted per square meter of soil, the distance between them should be 50 centimeters.

Planting a tomato is a very important and painstaking business. In order to get a good harvest of tomatoes, you need to competently approach the issue of planting. When planting a tomato in the ground, it is necessary to take into account many factors - correctly determine the timing, prepare the soil, correctly calculate the distance between plants, take into account the rules of crop rotation.

Growing and care

For planting in the ground, use a sunny place. If disembarkation is made in a region where the climate is temperate, you must choose a place so that the sun stays there for at least 6 hours. And, conversely, in the southern regions for the Amur tiger they are looking for an area with a shade, otherwise the scorching rays will not only quickly evaporate moisture, but also burn the leaves.

These tomatoes grow well in slightly acidic soil. Acidic acid can leach calcium from the plant, which leads to decay of the flowers. The grower should keep the pH in the range of 6.0 to 6.8. If the indicator is higher, you can pour the soil with coffee and water. Pine needle mulch is also added. When the reading is below 6.0, either dolomite lime or calcite is used.

The Amur tiger must be pinned, tied up and shaped. Without installing supports during the formation of fruits, the bush will fall to the ground, therefore, as the variety grows, it is necessary to tie it up regularly. Deep watering helps to strengthen the root system. Avoid overhead and afternoon watering. In this case, it is better to use drip irrigation.

The soil is mulched 5 weeks after planting to retain moisture and control weed growth. Amur tiger tomatoes need a nutrient rich in organic matter. If the grower doesn't make his own compost, store-bought compost should be used. You will need from 25 to 40 kilograms per square meter. It is poured in a layer from 6 to 8 cm. Before planting the seedlings in the soil, it is worth throwing a couple of handfuls of eggshells at the bottom of the planting pit. Tomatoes are fed with liquid fertilizer a couple of weeks after planting and every two weeks thereafter.

The Amur tiger raised in a greenhouse requires high humidity (80-90%) during the day. At night it should be moderate (65-75%). If this figure is above 90 and below 65%, rotting of flowers may appear. You can fight decay with folk methods. To do this, add a tablespoon of lemon juice to 4 liters of water. The solution is boiled and sprayed with leaves and soil around. The procedure is repeated every three days.

If flowers do not form on the Amur tiger bushes, most likely the plants are not getting enough sun or water. It can also be related to high daytime temperatures. If a variety produces many flowers but not fruit, it lacks light, water, or is too cold at night. Another reason is the lack of pollinators (bees). Low humidity can also affect pollination.

The best prevention against late blight and other lesions is thinning bushes, timely pruning of stepchildren. The longer moisture remains on the leaves, the higher the likelihood of fungal infection. As soon as the seedlings have reached a height of 20 centimeters, all the lower leaves should be removed. It is with them that the infection of the plant usually begins.

Watering tomatoes is not difficult. After planting, the plant is watered at such intervals that the soil remains moist. In dry weather, when it does not rain for a long time, watering can be carried out every day, but usually the beds with tomatoes are irrigated 2-3 times a week.
The methods of tying tomato bushes can vary significantly, depending on the availability of available material, the method of fixation, and also the variety. In general, it is recommended to adhere to the following scheme: first, the central stems are grabbed, and then, as the fruits ripen, the lateral branches.
One of the important conditions for tomato agricultural technology is the correct formation of the bush. The formation of tomato bushes means performing the following steps: pinching, pinching, trimming the leaves, normalizing the ovaries.

A plant needs different micronutrients at each stage of growth. All fertilizers can be divided into two groups: mineral and organic. Folk remedies are often used: iodine, yeast, bird droppings, eggshells.

It is important to observe the rate and period of feeding. This also applies to folk remedies and organic fertilizers.

Disease and pest resistance

The Amur tiger must be treated for insects and diseases, if you want your work to be worth it. Bacterial ulcers can become one of the main problems. It is necessary to deal with it even before planting seedlings. Do not plant the Amur tiger tomato where the nightshade used to grow. The site must be cleaned of high quality weeds.

Anthracnose is relieved by liquid copper sprays and sulfur powders used weekly, starting with foliage in early spring. It is best to spray the plants in the early morning. Moreover, you should always have neem oil on hand because it is a multi-purpose and organic type. Its use prevents fungal diseases, and if applied early, such a remedy can stop the fungus at the very beginning.

Proper care of the Amur tiger is the best way to prevent late blight. The grower must remove debris and weeds in time, as well as plant the tomato in such a way as to ensure proper air circulation. This variety is always watered at the base and not on the stem. Organic copper-based fungicides are also helpful. The spraying procedure is carried out on a dry day. After a few days, it is necessary to remove the lower branches and repeat the treatment after 1-2 weeks.

Treatment and prevention of diseases and pests
When growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, diseases often occur due to a violation of the temperature regime and excessive humidity. The most common diseases are fungal (late blight, cladosporium, rot).
The fight against diseases and pests of tomatoes in open areas can be quite difficult. This is because nightshades are exposed to a wide variety of pathogens and insect pests.
