Hurricane cabbage is the development of Dutch scientists who work in a large breeding company Bejo Zaden B. V. Work on a hybrid variety began in the early 2000s, but it only came to Russia in 2003, when it was entered in the State Register and approved for use.

The leaf rosette is raised. Leaves are medium in size, 13-16 cm in diameter, broadly ovate. The leaf surface is concave, slightly bumpy, the edges are slightly wavy. Characteristic veins are visible on both sides. The shade of the leaf is greenish, with a characteristic waxy bloom, which becomes more intense towards the middle. The outer stump is long.

The mass of a head of cabbage is 1.9-3.2 kg. The vegetable is round in shape, its size can be from medium to large. By color, the foliage outside is green or dark green, and in the context of the head of cabbage is whitish. The texture of the cabbage is tender and dense. The inner stump is short.

Cabbage is adapted for almost all regions of Russia. Good performance is noted in the following regions:

Although the originators stated that the culture is frost-resistant, it is still better to germinate and propagate it in seedlings. Sowing outdoors is only worthwhile in regions with a temperate and very warm climate.

Sowing dates can start from the second half of March to the first days of April. If desired, the seeds can be placed in separate containers or sown in seedling boxes. In both cases, it will be necessary to dive the seedlings.

The depth of planting seeds should be no more than 2 cm. The optimum temperature for seedlings should be from +15 to + 18 ° C.

It is necessary to transplant seedlings into open ground in mid-May, when they grow in height from 13 cm and have 4 strong leaves.

All representatives of cabbage are very fond of nutritious soil. Therefore, before planting, it is necessary not only to dig up the site, but also to add useful minerals to it. The Hurricane variety does not like soil that contains a lot of nitrogen.

For planting, a 50x60 cm scheme is selected, and the depth of the hole should be from 10 cm.

Follow-up care will include watering. It is necessary to carry out the procedure in the evening. In dry and hot weather, irrigation is carried out every 3 days, in rainy weather - every 5-7. It is important that the soil is sufficiently dry between treatments.

The next day after watering, the bed should be loosened and excess weeds should be removed. Every 3 weeks, the cabbage is huddled.

Top dressing is applied 3-4 times per season. You can use ready-made mineral complexes.

Hurricane cabbage is resistant to a number of fungal diseases. Most often, insect pests become an ailment of the variety, which encroach on the juice in the leaves. Therefore, cabbage is treated with insecticides.

Insects that attack the variety.

• Cabbage fly. It can be found on the bottom of the plant. There she lays her eggs. For protection, you can spud the seedling to the first leaves.

• Cabbage whitefish. Wood ash, which is poured over the beds, or sawdust, will help protect against the caterpillar.
