Many, purchasing a private house outside the city, strive not only to improve the territory at their own discretion, but also to build at least a small pool. To do this, it is worth considering in more detail the features and technology of building pools.

Planning

When designing a house, it is better to immediately take into account the presence of a pool on the site. The device of the entire local area depends on this. After all, you will need to calculate how much space the bathing tank, recreation area, planting will take.

In order to take everything into account, it is better to draw up a diagram where it will be indicated what and where will be located.

To calculate the volume of the pool, you need to take into account the number of people living in the house, and also decide for what purpose the pool is needed. It's one thing when you just need to cool off in the heat, and quite another if you have a goal to fully swim.

Typically, the depth norms for the tank on the site are 1.5-1.8 m. The width and length can be between 3 and 5 meters. But these figures are arbitrary, since, when developing a project, you will have to build on the available area and the need for other components of the improvement of the local area. Some need only a pool, moreover, a bizarre shape, while others, in addition to a tank, need a garden with fruit trees, flower beds and lawns for swimming. It is worth determining the preferences of all family members.

It often happens that the construction of the pool has to be deployed when there is already a house and other buildings. In this case, you need to look for a suitable site, clear it, and possibly move some objects to another place.

If it is decided to install the pool at home, then it is advisable to do this on the ground floor. And in this case, you should definitely think about its arrangement even at the stage of installing the building foundation.

If there is an idea to make a pool on other floors, you will need the help of specialists who will accurately calculate whether the building is capable of withstanding such a load.

Location

If the pool is not installed for one summer, but is being built thoroughly, then the location should be thought out very carefully. And here you need to take into account several important nuances.

  • The bathing tank must correspond to the general design of all buildings and in no case violate the harmony of the site. Therefore, all the details should be thought out in advance.

  • The site must be level, without drops and slopes. Otherwise, it will have to be leveled, and this is an additional cost.

  • It is necessary to take into account in advance how the water supply and sewerage systems will be connected to the structure. It is not worth installing a pool very close to the house. Excess moisture to the foundation of the house is definitely useless.

  • It is best to install the pool in an open area so that it is in the sun. This will allow the water to warm up to the desired temperature. You can provide an awning that will be removed or installed depending on the situation.

  • Placing the pool under trees is definitely a bad idea, as foliage, insects and other debris in the pool will be unnecessary. This will increase the number of cleansings.

Materials and equipment

The pool can be built from a variety of materials and technologies. Therefore, materials with equipment may differ.

Materials to stock up on include:

  • gravel, crushed stone or pebbles;

  • construction sand;

  • cement mortar;

  • fittings;

  • concrete;

  • boards and bars;

  • plaster;

  • ceramic tile;

  • waterproofing materials.

For the installation of the pool, it will be necessary to purchase all the necessary equipment, without which the full functioning of the bathing reservoir is impossible. These are systems for:

  • maintaining a comfortable water temperature;

  • pouring and draining;

  • disinfection;

  • filtering.

To ensure the purity of the water, different systems are used - skimmer or overflow.

In the first case, skimmers are placed in the pool, taking the upper layer of water. At the same time, clean water flows through special holes along the entire perimeter of the container.

In the second case, the water is poured over the sides into special troughs, clean water flows through the holes located at the bottom of the tank.

Besides, the pool must be provided with safe stairs with comfortable handrails. Decor elements and other additions in the form of waterfalls, fountains and massage systems are installed at will and based on the costs provided for the construction of the pool.

How to build a concrete pool?

When building a pool with your own hands on the site in front of a country house, in the country, in the garden, the main thing is to properly plan all the work and follow the technology. Only in this case, a home-made pool, especially if it is stationary and made of concrete and large, will delight the owners and fully fulfill its functions. Let's consider step by step what needs to be done to make the pool.

Pit

It is immediately worth solving the issue of the pit. Will it be a solid foundation pit and the pool will be completely submerged in the ground, or will it be a bowl on the surface, for which only a slight deepening is required.

In the first case, you cannot do without special equipment, in the second, you can dig a hole yourself using ordinary picks and shovels.

With a full-fledged pit, it breaks out 20 cm more than the planned height of the container itself. After the pit has been dug, the walls are leveled for subsequent work.

External waterproofing

The next work after the preparation of the pit will be equipment for external waterproofing.

For its implementation, a sand pillow is made at the bottom of the pit with a layer of about 30 cm, the sand is carefully tamped, after which roofing material is placed on the bottom. All these materials will prevent erosion of the pool base by groundwater.

Bottom concreting

The next step will be concreting the bottom. But first, metal rods must be installed around the entire perimeter, which will be useful for the construction of wall formwork. Their height should correspond to the height of the future pool. The distance between them is 30 cm. After this, the rods are tied together with a wire. Reinforcement is placed at the bottom of the pit.

Using a concrete mixer, cement, sand and fine gravel are mixed in a ratio of 1: 3: 4. After adding water, all this is thoroughly mixed with a concrete mixer. Then the bottom is poured with a solution, and left to dry for a day.

Formwork and wall filling

Then, with the help of boards around the entire perimeter, formwork for the walls is installed, not forgetting that this will be the height of the future pool. Then the prepared base is poured with the same concrete solution. Next, you need to give a week for the structure to dry completely.

After the concrete is completely dry, the formwork can be removed.

Internal waterproofing

The next stage includes applying a self-leveling mixture to the floor, and plaster to the walls. After drying, all excess debris is removed from the pool, all surfaces are treated with a primer. Then the entire surface is covered with coating insulation. This will protect all materials from moisture, and the method is the simplest and also the most affordable.

It is also worth paying attention to all the joints, for this, hydrophilic rubber is attached to them with the help of a sealant, this will help to avoid leaks.

Facing and decoration

The inside of the pool is finished with ceramic tiles, mosaics or porcelain stoneware. The sides are finished in the same way. Besides, it is worth taking care of the design of the area near the outdoor pool. And here, tiles are also most often used. It can be a flooring made of boards, but at the same time they must be well treated with protective agents against moisture, mold and mildew.

Next, it is necessary to supplement the structure with a staircase, equip the adjacent territory. Arrange a space for sun loungers, install a canopy, break flower beds, arrange paths. All this is at the discretion of the owners, with a focus on the general style.

Surface mounted bowl

A summer cottage pool can be built with a bowl made of polycarbonate, fiberglass and other materials. Besides, you can also purchase a ready-made structure, the installation of which does not require as much effort as in the construction of a concrete pool.

For the bowl itself, you can build a podium of boards or concrete.

Consider the stages of construction.

  1. When the finished bowl is already available, you need to mark the site, focusing on its size. This is done with pegs and rope.

  2. Then you have to make a foundation pit in order to deepen the bowl itself. It can be buried in half or a third.

  3. Sand is poured onto the bottom of the pit, compacted, a 30-centimeter layer is enough. A grid is placed on top. After that, the prepared concrete solution is poured onto the bottom.

  4. Then the bottom is insulated with geotextiles and polystyrene foam plates. A strong polyethylene film is placed on top.

  5. The bowl is also insulated in the same way - with expanded polystyrene and foil.

  6. After that, the bowl is immersed at the bottom of the pit.

  7. Then you need to pour concrete into the spaces between the bowl and the walls of the foundation.

  8. After it dries, the bowl must be finished with the selected material over the entire surface.

  9. Then you can carry out other work on the installation of additional equipment, stairs, decorating the space around and landscaping.

Other construction options

Craftsmen who decide to equip a pool in a country house or a plot of land cheaply and quickly use a variety of options. They make a container from any improvised means that they managed to get, or they ended up on the site: from foam blocks, brick, wood, galvanized steel, stainless steel.

It does not matter what exactly the container is made of - concrete blocks or metal, from boards or from a cube container. In all cases, a certain algorithm of actions will be followed, as in the installation of a solid pool. First you need a platform - flat, prepared and clean. And then a small deepening and foundation are already required.

An iron pool or a wooden one - it must be firmly attached to the surface and not pose a danger to bathers.

And he, too, requires waterproofing and design of the structure to make it look attractive. The shape of the pool will depend on what material is chosen. It is better to build a square or rectangular version of bricks and concrete blocks. Metal sheets can be used for more rounded shapes. Wooden structures can be both round and square, the latter being much easier to construct.

It is worth considering several ready-made examples in order to understand that a variety of materials are used for the construction of the pool at the dacha.

  • All you have to do is cover the inside of an old iron container with tiles, attach a ladder - and the mini-pool is ready.

  • Such a container on hot days can also replace the pool.
  • A bowl lined with stones with cement mortar can also be considered an option.
  • The container, finished with wood, fits well into the overall landscape.

Nuances of indoor construction

As for the construction of a swimming pool in a private house, even a very small home pool should be planned in advance if it will be located, for example, on the first floor of a residential building. In addition to all the equipment that is required to keep the pool in order (water drainage, filtration, heating, etc.), supply and exhaust ventilation is necessary to avoid mold and moisture in the room. Sometimes air handling units are replaced with dehumidifiers.

This option can be useful if the pool is small and located in a room with large windows that can be constantly opened and well ventilated.

Many people are considering a more convenient and acceptable option when the pool is located in a separate room under the roof. It can be attached to the house. Thus, it is possible to save space in the house, and such an indoor pool is easier to maintain, and it looks beautiful if you take care of its design.
