Parthenocarpic varieties are more and more popular, because sweet and small countless cucumbers without seeds are good fresh and for harvesting. One of the best varieties for salads and preservation is the Zyatek cucumber.

Description of the variety

Cucumber Zyatek is a hybrid of the first generation, bred by the specialists of the Gavrish company and the Research Institute of Selection of Vegetable Crops. It was included in the state register of varieties in 2007. It is a modern variety that meets the new requirements for parthenocarpic cucumbers. The plant's ability to set fruits without pollination has ceased to be exotic, but breeders are actively working to rid this cultivar group of its inherent disadvantages. Cucumber Zyatek is a very successful result of such work. He sets a lot of cucumbers without bitterness, compact and incredibly hardy.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

Indeterminate bush, medium height. Ties not too many lashes. The leaves are green, medium in size. The flowers are predominantly female, very abundant - from 3 to 8 pcs. in one node.

Zelentsy are short, no more than 10-12 cm, from 3.5 cm in diameter, 90-100 g in weight, balanced cylindrical shape. The tubercles are medium in size, frequent, with white spines. The color of the fruit is green, with blurred stripes and thickening towards the stalk to a dark green color.

Purpose and taste of fruits

The taste is excellent, full-bodied and without bitterness, with a fragrant aroma. The skin is soft, thin and strong, with a bright color. Cucumbers are versatile, equally well suited for salads and preservation. They look very nice and neat when rolled.

Maturation

The cucumber is early ripe. The first full-fledged fruits are removed 42-48 days after germination.

Yield

Productivity - 13.2 kg per 1 sq. m, 6-7 kg are removed from 1 plant.

Growing regions

The variety is universal, can grow in any regions of the Russian Federation. This is a worthy representative of the latest generations of parthenocarpic cucumbers. They are hardy, tolerate drought, wind, hot sun or cold well. Of course, for maximum yields in traditionally cold regions (in Siberia, the Urals, in the Leningrad region), the Zyatek cucumber is best grown in warm beds.

Landing scheme

The distance between the cucumbers is 50 cm, in the row spacing is 50 cm.

Growing and care

Cucumbers Zyatek are grown in the open field and in a greenhouse. The variety is completely unpretentious, it is content with agricultural technology common to all cucumbers. Seedlings are sown in mid-late April. In the phase of 3-4 true leaves, they are planted in late May-early June in greenhouses or in open ground. In central Russia, greenhouses can be sown directly into the ground from the end of April, and to protect against temperature extremes, it is enough to cover the plantings with agrofibre until shoots appear.

For very early harvests, seeds are sown in February or early April. The variety emerges very amicably, sprouts appear in a week. During this period, it is important to provide the seedlings with very good care.

  • The temperature must be at least 15 ° C.
  • Watering is strictly verified. You can neither overfill nor underfill. The soil should be moist, but not wet. The issue is partially solved by the selection of loose breathing soil: this cannot be poured.
  • It is better to sow cucumbers immediately in peat cups. They have a root system that is very sensitive to transplantation.
  • The culture is very demanding on nutrition. The fatter the soil for sowing, the better. Sometimes gardeners plant cucumbers in clean humus.
  • The duration of daylight hours should be at least 12-14 hours. In February, the seedlings are supplemented by 6 hours. The number of hours of additional lighting depends on the quality of lighting during the day. For example, in Siberia, even with a sufficient daylight hours in April, there are many cloudy days, cucumbers may not have enough light.

Already in late April or early May, with accelerated agricultural technology, you can get the first salad cucumbers. And 2 weeks after the beginning of the yield of the harvest, the number of fruits will completely cover the needs of a large family.

All cucumbers love warmth, sun, abundant watering, and rich nutrient soil. However, the variety Zyatek can grow in partial shade and is successfully planted between fruit trees. To increase yields, you can plant next to another variety - Mother-in-law F1. Cucumbers do not yet have complete parthenocarpies, so planting a number of other varieties stimulates ovary formation. However, even without this, according to reviews, Zyatek bears excellent fruit.

In dry summer, cucumber is watered daily or 2 times a day: in the morning and in the evening. Organic matter is applied twice, using mullein infusion, slurry, chicken droppings. But it is better to plant the plant right away in suitable soil.

Soil requirements

Cucumber is one of the few garden crops that can tolerate fresh organic matter. All melons can be safely planted on manure or compost heaps. So you should not be afraid to over-fertilize the soil for cucumbers. The soil can be as greasy as possible. It is important to pay attention to the looseness of the substrate. It should perfectly pass moisture and air, because the plant has sensitive thin roots. Coarse sand, peat, rotted sawdust are introduced into clay soils.

The ideal soil will be light, fertile, sandy loam or loamy, rich in organic matter, drying quickly and easily. The acidity required for cucumbers is 6.4-6.8 pH. Dolomite flour, chalk or hydrated lime is added to too acidic soils.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Required climatic conditions

Cucumbers love an even warm temperature - 20 ° C. The Zyatek variety is unpretentious, but some reviews have opinions about its high sensitivity to temperature changes. Therefore, it is worth taking care in advance of a shelter for seeds in the open field, vents and night heating in greenhouses. Especially when it comes to growing varieties in Eastern Siberia.

Disease and pest resistance

The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, hardy to downy mildew, very well resists root rot. When preparing loose soil and a sufficient amount of sun, it does not get sick.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.

Review overview

The variety is very familiar to Russian gardeners and has earned a huge number of the highest ratings. It is interesting even at the stage of purchase, as it stands out with a funny name. And in the process of growing, he reveals a lot of advantages: he grows as if he himself, the germination of seeds is excellent. The yields are excellent: not only large, but also stable, because 7 kg are removed from 1 bush without effort. Doesn't get sick with anything.

In addition, the Zyatek cucumber is devoid of the disadvantages of the first parthenocarpic cucumbers. It ripens quickly, but its rind is not too soft. On the contrary, it is quite dense, the cucumber keeps its shape perfectly in the blanks. Delicious, crispy. All parthenocarpic cucumbers grow rapidly and actively, release a lot of shoots, which has a bad effect on yields. They need to be pinned and tied up. The son-in-law has a moderate growth force, he has a fairly compact bush, he does not require much attention. You just need to plant at the correct distance and not thicken the planting.

There are almost no negative reviews. Some gardeners noted that the variety reacts poorly to temperature changes. Very cold weather in May causes the cucumber to set fruit, but they quickly stop growing, turn yellow and fall off. In the largest fruits, voids can form. But even critics note that the taste is excellent, without bitterness, the consistency is ideal: crispy, firm pulp, juicy and sweet. And the plant itself is very prolific.
