Varietal cucumbers Director were bred by breeders from Holland. In our country, the heat-loving vegetable is grown mainly in the North Caucasian Federal District. Juicy, crispy cucumbers of this variety are in deserved demand among gardeners and amateur gardeners and professionals in their field.

Description of the variety

This type of cucumber was originally created for growing in the open field. But domestic experts have long come to the conclusion that cucumbers take root well and develop in greenhouses and hotbeds. The director belongs to hybrids, and of the parthenocarpic type. It has many advantages and has the following visual characteristics:

  • bushes grow medium-sized, tall and quite strong;

  • flowering type - female;

  • shoots of the lateral type grow actively in large numbers, a bundle ovary is formed on them;

  • plant type - indeterminate;

  • foliage has a dark green color, grows in large numbers;

  • the bush does not have a growth ceiling, so pruning is required in greenhouses;

  • one sinus produces no more than 3 flowers.

Among the advantages that this variety possesses are the following:

  • high productivity;

  • easy care for powerful bushes;

  • the highest palatability of fruits;

  • presentation is flawless, stored for a long time;

  • the fruiting period is long;

  • if the climate of the region allows, the variety can be sown twice, collect two crops of the full type;

  • excellent health and resistance to typical cucumber ailments;

  • does not turn yellow;

  • grows well in shaded areas;

  • yield on the open ground and in greenhouse conditions is equal.

As for the shortcomings, the variety practically does not have them, except that one conditional. The plant forms a fairly large number of stepchildren, which must be removed in time. If this is not done, the root system will be overloaded.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

On tall dark green bushes, greens of a harmonious cylinder-type form are formed. The maximum length is about 12-12.5 cm, the average size varies from 8 to 10 cm. The diameter is from 3 to 3.5 cm. The skin is dark green, there are many tubercles, the pubescence is light white. The mass of zelents varies from 65 to 80 g.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Cucumber Director has a light, dense pulp, moderately crispy and without bitterness. The fruits can be stored for a long time, they perfectly tolerate transportation, are suitable for both salads and canning. Dutch breeders managed to create a hybrid that is famous for not forming voids in the pulp, which many other varieties sin.

Maturation

This variety belongs to the mid-season, from sowing to harvesting the first fruits, it usually takes from 50 to 55 days. Much depends on climatic conditions, weather, care. Since the cucumber tolerates temperature fluctuations well, it can be sown a little earlier than usual.

Yield

A high level of productivity is one of the main advantages of the variety, especially since it is possible to take two full-fledged harvests per year.As for the number of fruits, the average yield varies from 250 to 360 centners per hectare. These figures refer to dry field cultivation. If the planting area is irrigated, the indicators increase to 390-400 centners per hectare.

Landing scheme

Most often, this variety is grown by seed. First, they are soaked in a stimulating solution for half a day, and then they are sown in soil, also treated with a manganese solution. The latter should be well warmed up. Pits or grooves are created in advance, their depth should not be more than 4 cm.It is recommended to adhere to the planting scheme: 50 by 50 cm.

In this case, planting more than two seeds per hole should be avoided. After the appearance of plants with leaves, a culling procedure is carried out, when weak plants can be simply removed. The optimal landing date is April or the very beginning of May. When there is a need for an early harvest, they resort to the seedling planting method. For this, containers or other containers are filled with a soil mixture previously treated with a manganese solution.

The seeds are laid out in pits, the depth of which should not exceed 2 cm. After the sprouts appear, top dressing is carried out, the grown seedlings dive. The seedlings are transferred to a permanent place according to the following scheme - the order is staggered, the distance is 50-60 cm between the bushes. At the same time, the row spacing is maintained within 80 cm - 1 m. There can be no more than 4 seedlings per square meter on an open ground bed. In greenhouse conditions - no more than 3.

Growing and caring

Despite the fact that the variety is unpretentious in terms of agricultural technology, there are a number of measures without which it is difficult to achieve a good level of yield. All procedures are simple, but regularity and timeliness are required.

  • Moisturizing. Cucumbers love moisture, this variety is no exception, so you cannot bring the soil to dryness. Watering is carried out carefully, exclusively in the root zone, without affecting the foliage. The water is used warm, it must settle. If you grow the Director in a greenhouse, water after the first layer of soil has dried. In the case of growing on a garden bed, watering is carried out every day, but not during the hot part of the day, preferably in the evening. The size and frequency of watering may vary based on rainfall.

  • Fertilizer. Regular feeding will definitely not hurt this variety. Experts advise to carry out the procedure 2 times a month using an organic type of fertilizer. Infused droppings or manure are suitable, they can be replaced with urea, superphosphate, ammonium nitrate. Root fertilizers are not the only ones that this cucumber variety requires. It is recommended to periodically irrigate the foliage with special vegetable dressings. Mineral options are used based on the growing season, solutions of this type are introduced every 10 days or every two weeks.

  • Pruning. Bush formation is a must for this type of cucumber. The main lashes are pinched after the eighth or ninth leaf. In addition, stepchildren should be periodically cleaned up, which create too serious additional stress on the roots. The picking is carried out every 7 days. In greenhouse conditions, the bushes of this variety are placed on trellises.

  • Diseases and pests. Since the variety is considered quite resistant to most cucumber ailments and pests, you just need to prevent the plant from becoming unhealthy. To do this, it is enough to carry out all agrotechnical measures competently. Fungicidal treatments of this type of plant are not carried out, since already during breeding, the protection of cucumbers is high.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers.With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
