The mid-early cucumber variety Merry Guys is an F1 hybrid that embodies all the best features of the culture. The plant is in demand both for growing on a personal plot, and on an industrial scale, since it is unpretentious in care and cultivation.

Description of the variety

Among the advantages of a hybrid are:

  • resistance to temperature extremes;
  • the possibility of ovary inflorescences in cool weather;
  • high yield rates;
  • resistance to most of the diseases inherent in the culture;
  • universal purpose in cooking.

The disadvantages include the following:

  • you need to constantly tie and pinch the shoots;
  • planting material does not preserve parental genes.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The plant is medium-branchy, the maximum loop length is 2 m, when grown in a greenhouse, the height can reach 2.5 m. Parthenocarpic species with a predominance of female flowers, in each node 1-3 flowers. Leaves are medium in size, green in color.

The fruits are short, on average, the length of one cucumber reaches 7.5-9.5 cm, weighing up to 92 g. Their shape is cylindrical, with a slightly ribbed surface. The tuberosity is of medium density, with white spines. As they grow, the bumps become almost invisible.

The color of the cucumbers is rich green, with short stripes. The skin is thin, it is practically not felt when eating. However, it does not retain moisture well in fruits, which significantly reduces the shelf life of cucumbers.

Purpose and taste of fruits

The fruit is distinguished by its high taste. The crispy and juicy pulp contains a large amount of sugar substances, so sweetness prevails in the taste, there is no bitterness.

Basically, the hybrid is used for making salads, cool drinks, cold soups, snacks, rolls, sandwiches. For pickling and pickling, you need to use the freshest fruits, since wilted greens lose their pleasant crunch.

Maturation

It is a medium early variety. The full technical ripeness of zelents occurs 45 days after sowing the seeds. Harvesting begins in late June - early July. When growing crops in seedlings and in a greenhouse, cucumbers can be obtained 2 weeks earlier. Ripening proceeds gradually, as the fruits are removed.

Yield

High-yielding hybrid. From 1 sq. m, on average, you can get 14.5 kg of cucumbers, subject to the observance of agrotechnical technologies. But since this culture is one of the most unpretentious, you can get a good harvest without much effort.

Growing regions

The culture is zoned almost throughout the entire territory of the Russian Federation. Most of the fruits can be collected in the Central, Volgo-Vyatka, North Caucasian and Middle Volga regions, and the Central Black Earth Region.

Landing scheme

When planting the Cheerful Guys, they adhere to the 50x30 cm scheme. To maintain good yields, per 1 sq. m in the open field are planted 3-4 copies, 2-3 - in a closed one.

Growing and care

When growing, 2 methods are used: direct planting of seeds in open ground and seedlings.The second method makes it possible to shorten the growing season by several weeks. For this, the seeds are first soaked for a day. After that, it is left for several hours in a disinfectant solution.

The prepared seed material is planted in special peat cups. So the seedlings will be less injured when transplanting to a permanent place, since the integrity of the root system will not be violated and the seedlings will experience less stress. The plant is transferred to a permanent place at the age of 14-21 days.

Seedling care is standard. Moderate and regular watering with warm water, compliance with light and temperature conditions. Sowing seeds immediately into the ground is started when the weather is warm, and the earth warms up to + 15-17 degrees. It is important that there is no nighttime drop in temperature.

You need to choose a place for planting sunny or small partial shade. The variety prefers to grow on fertile, medium loamy, breathable soils. After planting on the site, it is imperative to install supports on which the plant will curl, since cucumbers grow and bear fruit better in an upright position. Experienced gardeners recommend pinching the stems from 3 shoots and removing the whip above 2 leaves.

Variety Cheerful guys need to be additionally fed. The crop reacts best to organic fertilizers. She also responds positively to complex mineral dressings, which allow to form more powerful roots, grow faster and form more ovaries.

Watering cucumbers in the evening. Mulching allows you to retain moisture in the soil for a longer time and prevents the development of weeds on the site, and also becomes an additional nutritious raw material for the crop. Regular loosening enriches the soil with oxygen. However, the Jolly Guys are able to put up with a slight overdrying of the earth.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
