If you want to grow a cucumber that can withstand small frosts, you should pay attention to the Trilogi variety. This elite hybrid is very popular in our country, since its fruits have a universal purpose.

Breeding history

Trilogy came to us from the Netherlands. It was allowed to be used by domestic plant breeders in 2011, so it is considered relatively new.

Description of the variety

One of the advantages of Trilogy is self-pollination. This variety of cucumbers is grown with equal success both in the open field and under a temporary film cover.

The fruits of Trilogy are highly marketable, and they are also easily transported over long distances.

It is worth appreciating this variety for its unpretentiousness to soils and excellent responsiveness to various types of fertilizers. This hybrid demonstrates good stress resistance, experiences both a slight decrease in temperature and a lack of precipitation.

Trilogi is praised for its flavor and speed of pickling. Thanks to the thin skin, the cucumbers are quickly pickled, and a large salt consumption is not required.

This variety also has several disadvantages that are worth mentioning. It is not resistant to peronosporosis, therefore, prophylactic treatment is required not only for young plants, but also for sowing material.

During the flowering period, Trilogy will require more fertilizing than most other varieties. In addition, a multi-stage bush formation will be required from the grower.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The described variety of cucumbers belongs to the indeterminate species. The lashes are formed medium in length. Pollination is not required for him; female flowers are formed on the vine. Trilogy's ovaries form in the leaf axils of a bright green color.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Trilogy's fruits are grown not only for themselves, but also for commercial purposes. They are suitable for salting, canning and preparing salads. The fruits grow short in size, usually the length of the cucumber is 8-10 cm. The shape is very similar to the cylinder.

There are small bumps on the surface of Trilogy. The color of the fruit is dark green, with stripes and even small spots.

These cucumbers taste a little sweet, the flesh is not very dense, but very juicy, there are no voids. It is impossible to convey the aroma of the fruits of this variety, for which they are so demanded in the market.

Trilogi cucumbers have one feature - after heat treatment, a void may appear inside, this is due to the insufficient density of the fruit pulp.

It is necessary to collect these cucumbers with gherkins, it is not worth waiting for them to fully ripen, since then there is no bitterness, but the crunch remains.

Maturation

Trilogi is a mid-early variety of cucumbers. After the shoots have appeared, the crop can be harvested in 39-42 days, sometimes this period extends to 55 days.

Yield

Up to 4 cucumbers are formed on the stem in the bosom. To get the maximum result, experts advise to remove side shoots, since they draw out juices, but do not produce a large amount of fruit. All ovaries that are located above 50 cm along the central lash are also removed. If the formation of the bush proceeds correctly, then up to 6 kg of fruit can be collected from one Trilogy bush. The average yield is 328-666 c / ha.

This variety has a peculiarity - the main crop is formed in the first month of fruiting.

Growing regions

Trilogy is grown with great success in several regions:

  • Northwestern;

  • Central;

  • Volgo-Vyatsky;

  • TsCHO;

  • West Siberian;

  • East Siberian.

Landing scheme

When landing Trilogy, the scheme is very important. Here, the 50x30 cm version is used, since it allows you to achieve maximum results without thickening the plantation.

Growing and caring

If you sow Trilogy for seedlings, then it is better to do it in mid-April. Young plants are transferred to open ground depending on the air temperature, which differs at different times in different regions. The main condition is that at night the air temperature should warm up to +16 degrees and above. It is worth choosing a sunny place for landing.

The seeds are placed in peat tablets. You can use 2 seeds per container. Before carrying out the procedure, it is imperative to germinate Trilogi; for this, the seed is placed in wet gauze.

Cucumbers of this variety will grow faster if you use a nitrogen supplement every 10 days. Watering is done daily, so that a hard crust does not form around, you can slightly loosen the soil, but shallowly.

Before planting Trilogy seedlings, it will need to be hardened. It is not difficult to master this procedure, you only need to take out young plants for half an hour in fresh air. The time can be gradually increased.

You need to understand that growing Trilogy in a greenhouse does not give a big increase in yield. This variety is good outdoors. It is allowed to sow the seed directly into the ground, but it is better to use the seedling method.

A few days before planting seedlings on the site, it is necessary to clean and disinfect the soil with wood ash, which is also a good source of nitrogen necessary for Trilogy's growth.

Sawdust is placed in the planting holes, or superphosphate can be used. After planting the seedlings, watering is mandatory, but it is not worth pouring the soil, it is enough to slightly moisten it.

Soil requirements

Trilogi will appreciate if it is planted in loam or sandy loam soil. The main condition is excellent oxygen circulation around the roots. It is impossible for moisture to stagnate in the soil.

The site needs to be dug in the fall to the depth of a shovel, cleaned of weeds and fertilized. In this case, the mullein is ideal.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Required climatic conditions

The cucumber variety in question copes well with weather changes, for which it is appreciated. A short-term drought will not harm the crop, but it should be understood that a long-term lack of watering will destroy any plant.

Disease and pest resistance

Trilogy is characterized by high resistance to diseases such as cucumber mosaic virus and powdery mildew. He also has good immunity to cladosporium.

But you still cannot do without preventive treatment, since there are other diseases that can affect the plant at different stages of growth. For this, fungicides are most often used. Commercial remedies have worked well with the Trilogi cucumber variety.

As for insects, the variety is practically not affected by them, but the infusion of garlic can still process young seedlings after planting in the ground.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
