Cucumber Topolek is a bee-pollinated hybrid that can be grown both in open beds and in all types of greenhouse structures: in winter, in autumn-winter, in spring film. Currently, the culture is successfully grown by gardeners and gardeners throughout the country. At the same time, the hybrid is rarely used for commercial cultivation, since it involves the use of a large amount of expensive fertilizers. Summer residents, on the other hand, choose this particular species due to its excellent taste and high yield.

Poplar is a 1st generation cucumber hybrid. It is a selection achievement of scientists from the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing (Moscow Region, Mytishchi). The work was carried out in the distant 1980s. The culture was entered into the state register for the Russian Federation in 1988. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in protected soils: both for winter versions of greenhouses when grown in autumn-winter circulation, and for spring light film greenhouses.

Poplar F1 is a bee-pollinated short-fruited hybrid, on the bush of which mainly female flowers are formed, there are few mixed ovaries. Medium early culture, while it has a rather long fruiting period: more than two months. The fruits are distinguished by an attractive appearance and high marketability rates.

Poplar is a medium-branchy plant with a central lash of considerable length. The leaf plate is distinguished by a pentagonal rounded shape, it is painted in a dark green shade, there is a slight dissection.

The rich green Topolek cucumbers grow oval-cylindrical or spindle-shaped. There are tubercles, pubescence of a complex color: from brown to white. Fruits grow 12-13 centimeters in length, about 4 centimeters in diameter, weight reaches 133-149 grams.

Topolek cucumbers have excellent taste. They are sweet, crunchy, and have a delicate cucumber aroma. A peculiarity of the hybrid variety is the fact that it retains positive taste characteristics, as well as an attractive appearance even after heat treatment.

Topolek is a mid-early hybrid. From germination to the beginning of fruiting, 50-58 days pass.

On average, farmers collect 4-6 kilograms of cucumbers from one square meter.

The culture is successfully grown in the North-West and Central regions. In addition to the territories recommended by the State Register, the hybrid can be cultivated in other areas with similar climatic conditions.

As a rule, a varietal hybrid of Topolek is grown by a seedling method. Seed material for seedlings is sown in early May. The seedlings are transferred to a permanent place when 3-4 leaves appear on them. This happens in early June. They are seated more often in a checkerboard pattern, 40 centimeters are left between the bushes, in the aisles - 40-50. Planting density - no more than 3 bushes per sq. m.With a weather forecast that promises night frosts, it is necessary to equip temporary shelters for planting.

It is desirable to form Poplar bushes in 1 trunk. On the main shoot, it will be necessary to remove the side branches at the first 2 nodes. As it grows, the main lash can be thrown over the trellis, then pinched half a meter from the fold.

The Poplar hybrid has good immunity. The culture resists such ailments as powdery and downy mildew. Almost not affected by cladosporium and mosaic.
