The Shchedryk cucumber variety was developed for private farms and for the production of vegetables on an industrial scale. Approved for use on the territory of our country in 2005. Today, the fruits of this variety are used not only for salting, but also for canning, as well as making salads.

Description of the variety

Generic doesn't need pollinators. Its fruits are perfectly stored and have a pleasant taste. This variety shows good resistance to changes in air temperature.

One of the advantages of the described variety is good immunity to the most common cucumber diseases. This variety can be grown by different methods, due to which it is in demand among modern plant breeders.

When choosing a seed or seedling method of growing Shchedryk, it is worth focusing on the region where it will grow. If planting is supposed to be in the south, then it is better to choose the seed method; for the central part and northern regions, the seedling method is suitable.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

Shchedryk has an indeterminate type of growth. This variety is characterized by medium branching and medium sized foliage.

Flowers on the plant are formed exclusively of the female type, which is why Shchedryk does not need pollination.

This plant is referred to as a bunch, in one such bunch it is formed from three zelents or more.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Particular attention should be paid to the fruits of Shchedryk, which reach an average weight of 90-100 grams. Cylindrical shape, dark green color with stripes and dense tubercles are the distinctive features of this cucumber.

Shchedryk has no bitterness, the taste can be described as excellent. A pleasant crunch is preserved during canning.

Maturation

Shchedryk is an early variety, after sprouting, it takes from 42 to 45 days to harvest.

Yield

Shchedrik is a high-yielding cucumber variety with an average of 12.8 kg / sq. m, regardless of what method and in what conditions this plant is grown, that is, in the ground or in a greenhouse. Its yield is not very different.

The recommended planting scheme for Shchedrik is 50x50 cm, this is how much the bushes need for normal growth without thickening the crops.

Growing and care

By the end of April, Shchedrik's seeds can be sown on seedlings. Young bushes are transferred to open ground by the end of May. If you intend to immediately sow a cucumber into the soil, then the best time for the procedure is mid-May.

For fruiting and growth, the Shchedryk cucumber requires heat. The temperature required for the sustainable growth of seedlings is + 20 ... 25 degrees Celsius. If its value drops to +13 degrees, then the development of the hybrid is inhibited.Therefore, in Central Russia, cultivation of this variety in soil is recommended to be done through seedlings. Shchedryk's seeds are sown in a peat substrate with a diameter of 6-10 cm to a depth of 1 cm. It is not necessary to place more than 2 seeds in one container, since Shchedryk does not tolerate picking.

After the appearance of the cotyledons, we increase the access to light for the hybrid and make sure that the substrate is constantly moist. To provide Shchedryk with optimal conditions for growth, it is necessary to take care of the appropriate temperature, which should be + 20 ... 25 degrees during the day, and at night should not drop below +16 degrees. Such conditions for the described hybrid are easiest to obtain in a greenhouse.

Shchedrik is planted when young plants reach 15-30 cm in height, but not earlier than in the third decade of May.

Preparing the soil for sowing Shchedryk directly into the soil consists in careful mechanical processing, the introduction of compost or manure. All preparatory work is carried out in the fall of the year preceding the cultivation of the hybrid. If the soil is poor in macronutrients, it is worth additionally enriching it with phosphorus (35-45 g / 10 m2) and potassium (165-200 g / 10 m2). In spring, it may be necessary to apply nitrogen in an amount of 10-15 g / 10 m2. We spread half of the indicated amount before planting, the rest, divided into two doses, we use when Shchedrik begins to bloom.

Before sowing the described hybrid in the ground, the seeds should be treated against pests and fungal diseases with a manganese solution. The sowing period falls on the second half of May and the first half of June, when the average air temperature is kept at + 15… 16 degrees. Shchedrik's seeds are sown in moist soil to a depth of about 2 cm. This can be a single planting or in nests of 2-3 pieces.

Soil requirements

The soil for this hybrid should be well fertilized and light. A large amount of moisture in the soil leads to the appearance of diseases. When the first leaves are formed, Shchedryk's seedlings require an airy, warm and moist soil, with a pH in the range of 6.0-7.2.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.
