Breeding history

Description of the variety

Platinum is a parthenocarpic hybrid with high marketability and female flowering. Self-pollinated, successfully grown in greenhouses. The plant is open and can be cultivated with or without a garter. The structure of the bush does not complicate harvesting, the greens are clearly visible on it, up to 3 of them are formed from each node. The root system of the plant is powerful and well developed.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

Cucumber bushes are medium-sized, develop in an indeterminate manner. Shoot branching is moderate, leaves are medium in size, color varies from normal green to dark. The plant has a strong ability to regenerate, the ovary is formed according to the bundle type.

Fruits are short, cylindrical, gherkin type, with thin skin and small tubercles covered with white pubescence. The average length of the greenery is 6-10 cm, the weight varies in the range 68-92 g. The color of the skin is green, with short stripes on the surface, uniform spotting for 1/2 of the length and more.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Maturation

The hybrid is early maturing. Ripening from the moment of emergence of shoots takes 38-45 days.

Yield

Platinum is a high-yielding hybrid. The average collection rates for industrial cultivation are 204-353 c / ha. 3-4.5 kg of fruit are obtained from 1 m2.

Growing regions

Platinum is a hybrid, zoned for the North Caucasus and Lower Volga regions. Here it can be grown outdoors.

Landing scheme

The recommended plant density per one hundred square meters is 300-500 pieces. The optimal arrangement of bushes is 30 × 70 cm.

Growing and care

Platinum seedlings begin to sow from the 2nd decade of April. In open ground, planting is carried out from the end of May. Cucumbers grow best without shelter, with sufficient sunlight and warmth. It is not necessary to close the seeds deeply, 10-20 mm is enough.

A prerequisite for the successful cultivation of this hybrid is regular plant feeding. They are applied up to 5 times per season, combining potassium sulfate, urea, superphosphate. You can tie the lashes on a trellis or net. Their placement on the ground is also practiced. Pinch the shoots after 7 leaves.

Soil requirements

Best of all, this cucumber grows on fertile, slightly acidic soils. Low-lying peat mixed with compost and sand is suitable.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Required climatic conditions

The hybrid is highly adaptable to adverse weather conditions. The location for him is chosen illuminated.

Disease and pest resistance

The hybrid is rated as resistant to most diseases. It is practically not affected by the cucumber mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, powdery mildew. It can suffer from gray or root rot, in cold and humid periods, it requires preventive treatments with preparations based on copper.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.

Review overview

Despite the status of the new hybrid, Platinum managed to win many fans in Russia. The crop is chosen as a versatile option for an early, bountiful harvest. The fruit is praised for its uniformity, attractive texture and firmness. It is noted that the peel does not spoil the taste when biting through the greens, it is easily peeled when making juices and smoothies. In the pulp, summer residents note a light sweetness that remains during salting and pickling.

To obtain maximum yields, gardeners are advised to prepare well-fertilized beds in advance, use open sunny areas, and organize a drip irrigation system.

The hybrid has received numerous positive reviews for its basic properties. It does not require pollination by bees, it blooms profusely, while exhibiting moderate lash formation. Due to the early maturity, it is practically not affected by many diseases, it is of moderate interest to pests.

This hybrid is practically devoid of cons. Its main disadvantage is the impossibility of seed reproduction. The resulting plants do not retain the properties of the parent bush. When assessing commercial prospects, summer residents indicate not the highest productivity. It is also mentioned that the bushes are not too resistant to downy mildew.
