The hybrid variety Pasalimo is quite well known to Russian gardeners. Its qualities make it a real northern gherkin.

Description of the variety

Pasalimo is a parthenocarpic hybrid, gherkin, bred by the Dutch company Syngenta Seed B. V. It was included in the Russian State Register in 2005. Hardy and productive, it has an excellent balance of commercial and consumer characteristics. The hybrid belongs to a new generation of parthenocarpic cucumbers. Pasalimo is devoid of the disadvantages of the first varieties, which had a soft skin and high demands on growing conditions.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

The bush is indeterminate, medium-sized, the leaves are light green, medium-sized. The flowers are predominantly female, 3-6 pcs. in one node. Most often, 2 fruits are tied.

Zelentsy are short, up to 6-9 cm in length, weighing 80-90 g. Cucumbers of this size are classified as gherkins. The shape of Pasalimo's zelents is smooth and neat. The color is dark green, with streaks at the end, thickening to very dark towards the peduncle. The tubercles are large, with white spines, of medium frequency. The skin is thin, strong, durable, does not fade in the heat. Keeping quality is excellent.

Purpose and taste of fruits

The taste of gherkins is excellent, without bitterness, balanced, bright. Fresh greens are crispy, fragrant. According to its intended purpose, the hybrid is salad and canning. It looks best in blanks thanks to its strong skin.

Maturation

Early maturing, ripens in 39-41 days. The fruits do not tend to outgrow.

Yield

The yield of marketable fruits under temporary shelter in the open field is 14.2 kg per 1 sq. m (on average). The commercial qualities of the crop are very high; when harvesting 96% of the zelents are of high quality.

Growing regions

The described culture is recommended for growing outdoors in any regions of the Russian Federation, from cold to hot. It can be cultivated in the Urals, Siberia, in the northern regions, in the Far East and the North Caucasus.

Landing scheme

The Pasalimo cucumber bush is quite compact. Between the plants they are kept at 30 cm, in the aisles - 60 cm each. Planting density - 3-4 plants per 1 sq. m.

Growing and care

The crop is officially recommended for outdoor cultivation. Like any cucumber, it loves good lighting and timely watering. Pasalimo is a reliable and productive hybrid that can grow in partial shade, but in a bright place the yield will be even higher. Watering in dry summer is needed daily. Watered in the evening with warm, settled water. If there is a strong heat, watering is carried out in the morning. In cold rainy periods, watering is not needed; in dry cool weather, water is watered once every few days, after checking the soil - it must be dry.

Pasalimo tolerates temperature extremes, but if the summer is cold and the greenhouse gets very hot during the day, it is better to install a barrel of water in it. At night, the water heated during the day will give off heat to the air, leveling the microclimate.

The formation of a bush will be required. The plant is of medium vigor, but has the ability to grow the main lash indefinitely. The lashes are tied up after the appearance of 5-6 leaves.

To obtain super-early harvests, seedlings are sown in January-February. Additional lighting is required, this hybrid is very fond of abundant sun. Without supplementary lighting, the harvest is obtained on days 65-70. But gardeners consider this result to be very good. Pasalimo has a great return.

For better yields, cucumbers are regularly fed. The first feeding is carried out two weeks after planting the seedlings in the ground - a solution of mineral fertilizers is applied. Further feeding is repeated every 3 weeks.

During the period of fruit setting and flowering, spraying with boric acid will be useful. The plant will tie even more greens. It is better to collect them at least 3 times a week, and better - daily, so that the bush directs its forces to the growth of more and more fruits.

Opponents of mineral fertilizers bring organic matter under the cucumbers. In general, the Pasalimo hybrid is undemanding, it can provide a good harvest without any additional measures. Suitable for beginners.

Soil requirements

Cucumbers love loose, moisture and air permeable, very nutritious soil. This culture is native to India with its torrential rains and instantly drying soil. Pasalimo is very hardy against the general background, according to some reviews, it can be planted in any soil - it will still grow, the shoots are active and strong, with thick stems. But the plant does not have radically different habits. A sufficient amount of loosening components is added to clay soils: cut plant residues, peat, coarse sand, sawdust, humus. Poor soils are abundantly flavored with compost.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Disease and pest resistance

Pasalimo has excellent immunity against powdery mildew, olive spot. It is highly resistant to the common mosaic virus. In most cases, prophylactic treatments with "Fitosporin" and good agricultural technology are sufficient - the plants do not get sick. If spots are found on the leaves, they are sprayed with an ash solution or milk whey.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.

Review overview

Reviews are controversial, but everyone is unanimous that culture is charismatic. It can be capricious with a lack of light, but in June-July it shows excellent growth. Even, seemingly, frozen seedlings can begin to grow intensively, the yield will be high as a result. Pasalimo has beautiful fruits, very abundant and strong. The skin may seem harsh, especially to those familiar with other parthenocarpic varieties. But it is tough in moderation, cucumbers are still very good fresh. Very fragrant. The pulp is also firm, capacious, and absorbs brine perfectly - this is an ideal variety for canning.

The Pasalimo hybrid will also be very good for small farming purposes. The yield is excellent and reliable, even in cold summers. Persistent, hardy plants, their cultivation is not very laborious, and lying, not prone to overgrowing, fruits of excellent caliber are an excellent option for sale.
