Breeding history

The Real Man variety was bred in a Russian agricultural company by I.N.Dubinina, S.V.Dubinin and A.N. Lukyanenko. It was entered in the State Register of Russia in 2010.

Description of the variety

The real guy is a hybrid cucumber. It has good adaptation to external factors. Will grow calmly with fluctuating temperatures, a weak light source and high humidity. This variety can be grown both in greenhouses and in open spaces.

This vegetable is resistant to underlying diseases (powdery mildew, spotting) due to its strong immunity. But at the same time, there is a possibility of infection with peronosporosis. Pollination of the plant occurs with the help of insects.

The plant itself is tall and has strong, large leaves. Basically 3 flowers are formed at each node.

These cucumbers have an elongated, elongated shape. The length of one cucumber can reach 30-35 centimeters. The tubercles are pronounced, and the base is completely smooth. The mass of a cucumber is about 300 grams. The skin has a dark green color with elongated white blotches.

Maturation

The hybrid has a medium early ripening period, so you can pick the cucumbers about 55 days after the seeds sprout. Although they grow up to 35 cm, it is not at all necessary to wait for such a length. On the contrary, on the advice of agronomists, it is best to collect the vegetable when it has grown to 20 cm.

Yield

The harvest of this vegetable will delight you for three months, fruiting is long-term. Collecting cucumbers should be carried out no more than once every 2 or 3 days. This is done so that the greenhouses have time to grow to larger sizes.

Growing regions

This type of cucumber was specially bred to be grown in the Black Earth Region and the North Caucasus. It is also grown in the following regions:

  • Volgo-Vyatsky;

Growing and care

This vegetable should be grown in moist soil that is low in acidity. At first, the cucumbers must be covered so that they do not freeze. Then, with the onset of warm days, the covering material can be removed and further germinated in the open air. Leave the plants open during flowering so that bees and other insects can pollinate them.

It is best to plant these cucumbers after carrots, onions, peppers and potatoes. It is necessary to change the landing site every five years. In greenhouses, after this time, the soil is completely changed.

No seed treatment is required as they are already sold treated. The seeds are planted in holes with a depth of 2 to 4 cm. They are preliminarily spilled with warm water.The distance between each hole and the row should be about 35 cm. If you have germinated seedlings, then you can plant them when the ground temperature is about + 15 ° C.

The soil in which you will plant cucumbers should be loose. It is imperative to apply fertilizer so that the sprouts grow strong. It also needs to be properly prepared:

  • removal of weeds and old vegetation;
  • processing the site with Bordeaux liquid, copper sulfate (these substances will protect the plant from fungal diseases, pests and other adverse conditions);
  • digging a vegetable garden in the fall;
  • adding humus or manure to restore the chemical composition of the soil and introduce nutrients.

As the plant grows longer, it is shaped and tied to trellises or nets so that it grows upward. The peculiarity of the garter is that only the main stem is fixed, and the ovaries remain suspended. With this method, the plant receives more air and light. In addition, harvesting will be easier in the future.

Now, until flowering, cucumbers are watered once a week. If the soil becomes dry earlier, then watering should be done every five days. Watering should not be skipped, as this variety does not tolerate arid soil. Top dressing must be applied three times throughout the season:

  • 1 time - when two or three leaves appeared on the seedlings;
  • 2 times - two weeks after the first fertilization;
  • 3 times - after about 1.5 months.

Fertilizers are usually rotated. First, they are fed with organic mixtures, and then with mineral ones.

Loosening of the soil, weeding it is considered necessary care. Do not forget about the treatment from pests, because if everything is smooth at the beginning, then at the end of the season the plant is exposed to various diseases and attack by harmful insects.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers.
