Cucumber Dream of a summer resident

Cucumbers of the Summer Resident's Dream variety were bred by domestic breeders and entered in the register in 2008. Among the positive qualities of the hybrid, a long fruiting period and excellent productivity are especially noted. And undemanding care and versatility of use make the variety one of the most popular among gardeners in our country.

The variety belongs to the parthenocarpic, hybrid varieties, with a female flowering. To increase fruiting, it is recommended to plant a Summer Resident's Dream next to bee-pollinated varieties. The bushes of the plant are leafy medium, but the branchiness and growth are at a high level. Shoots of the lateral type are miniature, internodes are short, the ovary is formed of a bundle type. In one node, both 4 and 10 fruits can form. The cucumbers are poured in turns, which is why the fruiting period is so long.

The variety has its advantages:

• excellent marketability and productivity;

• good immunity to major diseases;

• well transported;

• high taste;

• can grow in shady areas;

• resistant to small and short-term temperature changes.

There are also disadvantages that are important to know, although they are conditional:

• after canning, they do not crunch, they become soft;

• regular fertilization is needed.

Visually, the fruits of the variety look like this:

• length varies from 10 to 11 cm;

• the shape is closer to oval;

• weight about 100 grams or slightly less;

• the peel is dense with tubercles, the color is juicy green;

• there are black spikes.

Since the fruits are small in size, they are suitable for pickling, canning, if the loss of crunchy qualities does not bother. The variety is ideal for fresh consumption, as an additive to salads. Very good palatability:

• juicy pulp;

• crispy;

• there is no bitterness;

• the aroma is fresh and very pleasant.

The variety belongs to the early ripening period. On average, the fruits ripen to full ripeness by about 40 days, sometimes a little later.

The high-yielding variety yields an average of 7.5 kg of fruit per square meter if the cucumbers are grown outdoors. With greenhouse cultivation, the average yield rises to 18.5 kg per square meter. Harvesting is carried out as it ripens with sharp objects, while the stalk is not cut off. The fruits keep well in a cool place.

It is optimal to grow this variety in a sunny area, a little shade is allowed. The soil must first be dug up, representatives of pumpkin should not have grown in this area. In order not to interfere with high-quality air exchange and healthy development, flowering, you need to follow the planting scheme. The recommended distance is not less than 15 and not more than 20 cm between bushes, not less than 60, not more than 75 cm between rows.

In the heat, it is necessary to moisten the Dream of a summer resident every other day, in a drought - every day. The water should be settled and not cold.

• Tying and trimming. In order for the ovaries to form more actively, the main shoot should be pinched. As a result, the side lashes develop better. It is optimal to establish a support for already mature seedlings, if they are tied correctly, the yield increases. The trellis version of the garter is recommended, in which the bushes are formed comfortable for harvesting. Fruit production is increased and the risk of disease is significantly reduced.

• Fertilizer. When the variety enters the period of active development, it is fertilized with phosphorus-nitrogen compounds. Before budding and creating the ovary, it is better to add compositions with iodine, boron, potassium. Organic matter is also required, which is well suited for diluted poultry droppings.

• Hilling. This procedure has a good effect on the development of this type of cucumber. It is important to loosen the soil in time, but carefully, since the roots are close. Loosening prevents the development of rot.

Despite the fact that the immunity of this variety is quite strong, the risk of developing various diseases, especially with improper care, remains. Powdery mildew, mosaics are almost not terrible for this variety, but the following ailments and pests may well hit it.

• Bacteriosis Warm, humid weather and too frequent disembarkation can provoke this disease. Before planting, it is necessary to hold the seeds in a bactericidal composition; for prophylaxis, disinfect tools and greenhouses. If the disease has already appeared, "Fitolavin 300" is used.

• Cladosporium. Fungal disease, which usually occurs in greenhouses when moisture is disturbed. It is necessary to carry out the treatment with Bordeaux liquid, spraying with copper-containing solutions.

• Spider mite. If this insect attacked the planting, you need to cut out the diseased parts of the plant, remove the cobweb, treat with tobacco-type dust, ammonia and biological products.
