For many gardeners, hybrid varieties of early maturing cucumbers are ideal for garden cultivation. One of these is the domestic selection of cucumber Mazai, which is characterized by simple agricultural technology and high yields.

Breeding history

Mazai is an early ripe cucumber bred by biologists of the Manul agricultural firm. The authorship belongs to I. N. Krylov, A. V. Borisov and E. A. Orekhova. The hybrid was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation in 1998. A productive plant growing in the Central region. You can grow a vegetable in the garden, under a film and in greenhouse structures.

Description of the variety

The early cucumber is a vigorous plant of the indeterminate type. The cucumber bush is characterized by a strong central stem, growing up to 350-450 cm, limited branching, developed climbing, moderate thickening with large green leaves and a powerful root system.

During the flowering period, amber-yellow flowers of medium size, predominantly female, appear on the bushes. Several ovaries are formed in each node. The culture belongs to parthenocarpic ones, therefore, it does not need additional pollination by bees.

Characteristics of the appearance of plants and zelents

Zelentsy Mazay are characterized by high commercial qualities. In a favorable environment, vegetables gain a mass of 100-122 grams and a length of 10-12 cm, extremely rarely - 14. Cucumbers have a neat shape - cylindrical triangular. Ripe greens are evenly covered with a grassy green color, diluted with blurred light stripes. The peel of fruits is of medium density, not hard, rarely covered with medium-sized tubercles and white thorns.

It is recommended to collect ripe greens on time, as they are prone to overgrowth. The harvested crop transfers transportation over long distances without losing the marketability of vegetables. In addition, cucumbers can be stored in a cool place for some time, preserving their taste and useful properties.

Purpose and taste of fruits

Mazai cucumbers are remembered for their excellent taste. The flesh of the vegetable is fleshy, tender, medium-dense, crispy and very juicy, without voids and wateriness. The inside of the pulp contains a small number of seeds that are not felt when eaten. The taste of vegetables is balanced - pleasant sweetness goes well with a refreshing aroma. In addition, there is no bitterness in the taste.

The collected greens are characterized by a universal purpose - pickled cucumbers, canned whole, eaten fresh, added to salads and various vegetable cuts. It is also ideal for pickling.

Maturation

Mazai is a hybrid representing the class of early ripening vegetables. The growing season lasts 42-46 days. The germination and ripening of fruits in the culture is friendly. It is recommended to remove the fruit every few days. The fruiting period is somewhat extended. Harvesting is in July-August.

Yield

The yield indicators for the vegetable crop are good. With proper care, the plant will certainly reward with a high yield. On average, 6.7 kg of crispy greens can be collected from 1 m2.It is characteristic that in greenhouse conditions the yield indicator is slightly higher than in open ground. In a greenhouse, 12-15 kg of cucumbers ripen per 1 m2.

Landing scheme

Keeping the distance between cucumber bushes is very important. 2-3 bushes are placed per 1 m2 in a greenhouse, and up to 5 plants are placed on a garden bed. The optimal layout for planting is 70x40 cm.

Growing and care

Mazai cucumbers are grown mainly in seedlings. This requires bushes 20-25 cm high, with a strengthened central stem, 3-5 leaves and a developed root system. Planting in a greenhouse is carried out in the second half of May, and in a garden bed in June. Planting seedlings requires a stable temperature regime and well-heated soil. You should not plant seedlings in a place where pumpkin crops used to grow.

Vegetable culture needs intensive agricultural technology, which includes: regular irrigation with settled or warm water, fertilization, alternating organic and mineral (3-4 times during the growing season), loosening and weeding the soil, tying bushes to a trellis, frequent thinning, providing air access , moisture, light to plants, disease prevention.

Soil requirements

The plant grows comfortably in loose, fertile, air and moisture permeable soils. In addition, the soil should be non-acidic, free of weeds.

In order to collect strong, tasty and beautiful cucumbers on your site, you need to make top dressing. Lack of nutrients can negatively affect the appearance of the plant and significantly reduce the yield. Fertilize cucumbers with organic fertilizers in combination with mineral fertilizers. With the right balance of these components and adherence to the fertilizing schedule, the cucumber yield will be maximum.

Required climatic conditions

The Mazai hybrid is a thermophilic culture, so it should be grown in sunny areas, where there is enough light, heat, good air circulation, and there is also protection from drafts and cold winds.

Disease and pest resistance

Due to its immunity, the plant is resistant to the cucumber mosaic virus, cladosporium and powdery mildew, and the hybrid is also tolerant to root rot.

Despite their popularity, cucumbers are often attacked by diseases and pests. From them, cucumber plantings often die before the start of fruiting. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to try to prevent ailments or get rid of them at the very beginning, having studied in detail their causes of occurrence, signs and methods of treatment.
